  1. ps2, the book is probably a good guide for you, but to learn how we Americans speak, you really need to watch our tv and/or movies. However, in more formal settings, like writing for a job, then you need to know the rules. I believe the American Psychological Society puts out a book about grammer and it is considered by many to be the book to go to when you have a question.
  2. When my wife had cancer, I read about oxygen therapy. Supposedly the oxygen kills cancer cells but that is all I know. I haven't heard of it as a treatment for other diseases. I suspect that the cancer cells have high rates of metabolism so with hyperbaric oxygen, the oxygen would be toxic to the cancer cells?

Because of different conventions around the world, it makes sense to me to write 1 Nov. 2005.

  6. There isn't a shower scene in Alien. Maybe MetaFrizzics is referring to the end when Sigourney is wearing the smallest panties in existence?
  7. Aliens built them, haven't you seen Alien Versus Predator?
  8. I think we can also say that phylogenetically speaking, we are animals.
  9. Are there nukes that can fit into a suitcase? If so, how heavy would they be and what would the power be? Not dirty nukes, but the real deal. I know that the US had an artillery piece during the Cold War called "Atomic Annie" that shot nukes, but I don't know the size of the projectile.
  10. Faces of Death is footage of people being killed, but not necessarily by other people.
  11. I believe the mods don't want members to do your work for you. If you come up with answers on your own and post them asking for corrections, that is more in tune with the nature of this forum.
  12. That is very funny Bettina and that is a cool site Sayonara.
  13. I thought that any (most?) chemicals that end in -ose are sugars. So fructose is a sugar, right? So Bio-Hazard is correct in calling sucralose "sugar" but by not using "a" or "table" in front of sugar, he was being ambiguous.
  14. Well I just wonder how I would score on the Kinesiology IQ test. I am no longer young so my body can't go every which way anymore. Since he chose a dancer (Martha Graham?) as the genius in this category, I am assuming that I could demonstrate my lack of kinesioloy IQ by not contorting my body But I can dance like Elaine (Seinfeld), I wonder what that would get me.
  15. What mistakes has Hollywood made regarding science? - Tom Sizemore's character in Red Planet says "I am a geneticist. I write code, A,G,T,P. - The space shuttle craft in Armageddon flying like there is an atmosphere when on the asteroid.
  16. Too, renin production decreases as we age. For the sake of future generations not suffering from lactose intolerance, keep consuming dairy products so that our bodies learns to handle it
  17. Daniel, If ee is what you want, then stick with it. Others have completed the courses before you, so you can do it too. Last week I saw a job for an ee that started at $85 - 95 k with just a B.S. It was for radar designers, let me know if you want to see the job description and I will find it for you.
  18. You have my apologies, Phi for All, it was a gut reaction on my part.
  19. D22K, That may be, but if that is you in your avatar, I can safely write that at least I don't look like one!
  20. That Bush planned 9-11 and the buildings were rigged for demolition so more people would die. YT2095, I am glad Bush is interested in Iraq's oil, because I like to drive to the store.
  21. Do you mean this to be a trick question or do you mean which river did Man think was the longest?

  23. I don't know how the education system works in the UK, but you seem awfully young to go to med school. Young as in you are inexperienced, not young as in can't handle it Good luck though, I wish you well.
  24. All of the dead ones seem to be covered. Ever hear of Dean Kamen? A brilliant engineer who has invented or improved upon many technologies and invented many gadgets used in the medical field. His brother is a physician and would tell Dean: "Doctors could really use something that does this ..." and Dean would go out and invent it. dean kamen Alfred Loomis deserves an honorable mention. This man, during the 1920's through the 1940's and beyond, personally funded scientists at his home to do research that was directly related to the development of radar and first atomic bombs. Mr. Loomis was a gifted mathematician and physicist to boot. You can read his story in the book Tuxedo Park and can read about the book here: tuxedo park I have also read a poll where people think the chap who invented the toothbrush was the best inventor.
  25. Thank you, yourdadonapogostick, for serving, my hat is off to you sir. Good luck and keep us safe
