  1. Done that. I wanted more of an experience based info.
  2. I was looking into this chemical for a project for myself, and I'm afraid I can't find much info on it. What are some of the dangers in this chemical, storage properties and the status of it being watched. It'd be hard to explain why I have loads of NaOH and LiOH in my garage. Even though I'm a ligament soap maker.
  3. I see....well thank you for the info.
  4. I couldn't find any other ways to make it other than from Wikipedia so I was decided to make sure if it would work first. From wikipedia: Phosphorus trichloride is prepared industrially by the reaction of chlorine with a refluxing solution of white phosphorus in phosphorus trichloride, with continuous removal of PCl3 as it is formed. P4 + 6 Cl2 → 4 PCl3 Industrial production of phosphorus trichloride is controlled under the Chemical Weapons Convention, where it is listed in schedule 3. In the laboratory it may be more convenient to use the less toxic red phosphorus.[5] It is sufficiently inexpensive that it would not be synthesized for laboratory use. If I get some phosphorus (red probably) and chlorine (probably pool grade stuff, so crystals) how would I convert the chlorine into a gas form, and then how would I measure 6 moles of the gas? Also, once refluxing and adding 6 moles of chlorine, how would i remove PCL3? By distillation? Would it be a liquid? I'm some what new to chemistry on this level. Thanks in advanced!
