  1. Never heared of that one before, I know some beans contain caster oil which is highly toxic! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  2. Well, probability says there should be a few that would! Hydrogen Cyanide is the closest I have found thus far but I'm researching now. Cheers, Ryan Jones
  3. A cold place - its just about the only way. DO NOT let this stuff get anywhere near anyhting hot in a confined space or it will probably explodedue to preassure build up. I also think preassure works well to store this stuff but I'm not really shure about that one Cheers, Ryan Jones

    A Question!

Not shure is its right but Google seems to give the same answer! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  5. Yup, all good examples Most of those will be impliemnted withing a few years with any luck, you could have cures for various diseases, you could even engineer them to target special organisms such as those nasty parasitis wormc and the like. The one about genetic defects is a hot topic right now as is all viral research as its applicaitons are again all but endless! Cheers, Ryan Jones

    Vitamin C

It is, My mistake... Sorry about that!
  7. One of the thigns I did was change the way it scanns the ports for rogue information, this was not difficult to do but it significantly sped up the process and also it improved its funcitonality, In have submitted this modification to the good people at Zone Labs and maybe one day it will be intergrated fully The method I used was a bit too complicated to go into here (And I'm not giving away all my secrets ) but it basiclaly makes it more efficient by using a single dimensional array to store the ports scanned and are being scanned rather than an inefficient multiple array system it currently uses. Another thing I did was alter the code so that instead of just scanning the content of the page as it normally does it now intergrates with my virus scanner (Which ZA does not nativley support, this was a hell of a job to fix) and scans the pages with that as it gos along too. This lead to a slight decrease in overall efficency but it was minimal for what I got back Cheers, Ryan Joens

    Vitamin C

Good point. Funny thing though, Citric acid is supposed to be an anti-oxidant so if you apply it to something like the potato slice it should oxidise more slowly than one without it applied Cheers, Ryan Jones

    Vitamin C

it does? In that case it could be UV does have an effect, causing the cutric acid or some of its compoents to decompose. the actual question is what is actually causing this effect and how cna you be shure it is the UV light? Your experiment should find this out. Cheers, Ryan Jones

    Vitamin C

Well, actually ascorbic acid (2-oxo-L-threo-hexono-1,4-lactone-2,3-enediol) is more stable than citric acid (2-hydroxy-1,2,3-propanetricarboxylic acid) and decomposes above 192°C instead of 175°C As for the exact effects of exposure to UV radiation I am not shure. I can find little informaiton on the subject after some research. Maybe a little Googling will trun up some more useful results and more informaiton than I can provide! I suppose the UV light could encourage the substance to decompose but I'm really not shure sorry Cheers, Ryan Jones

    Vitamin C

Not much effect I would think unless you are close to the sun and the temperature is above 175°C at which point itwill start to decompose Links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citric_acid Cheers & Welcome to the forums! Ryan Jones
  12. Thanks guys so tetraoctotetraazocubane is probably the most powerful explosive then? Now onto one of my favourite areas - thermite! Why does thermite work? What "types" of thermite are there? Does the ignition temperature vary according to the reactivity of the netals involved? Cheers, Ryan Jones
  13. How did I miss this old thread when I was reading throught eh archives? Thanks for digging this up, I have some reading to do! Cheers, Ryan Jones

    mass

A particle known as a photon and another called a graviton are example sof massless particles. I'm not shure how they cna be defined as having no mass (Though I havea asked this question ymself I was confised by the answers I got back). I don't somehting cna have negative mass, since you can't travel at light speed anyway its not really a matter of urgency to find otu either Cheers, Ryan Jones
  15. Yes I did. Its not that big of a modifcation but it adds something that I felt it was lacking and fixed some security holes too. Cheers, Ryan Jones
  16. Yup, one of the reasons I tool A level chemistry was because it gives a nice insight over most of the chemistry areas. Sounds like you have the right idea, leave your options open and then choose when your shure - nothign worse than doing a course in a part of chemistry and then deciding you do not like that area any more. Good luck with choosing your corse! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  17. Well, thats peopel for you only interested in the money, I'd rather see some exotic chemicals burn myself Next question for you explosives exeprts: Whats the most powerful explosive known? I've heared Nitroglycerine is damn powerful with a detination devlocity of about 7700m/s Also, I have another question: Does Nitrogen Triioide explode or does it just decompose very rapidly? Cheers, Ryan Jones
  18. Don't worry I already HATE XP... its a useless pile of junk if you ask me. You have a point there, firewalls cna be hard to maintain and configure though I can say on my OS and on this computer I have never had any probelms with the modified version of Zone Alarm Cheers, Ryan Jones
  19. phpBB is free and open source SMF is annother good one. YaBB is another good system and again its free. Here are the wo paid one si know: VBulletin - expensive (This forum uses this software). IPB - not as expensive but still quite pricey. Cheers, Ryan Jones
  20. Oh, one more question related to this topic. Does electronegativity of a compound affect the products in displacement reactions? Say we had KF and NaCl, would they remain the same or would we have NaF and KCl? What I mean is would the element with the greater electronegativity act like a more reactive metal would, displacing the lower electronegative element? Cheers, Ryan Jones
