  1. Its a habbit, even if I did I'd still end up typing it in the post anyway Cheers, Ryan Jones
  2. Great description woelen! So burnins if nothing like explosions then? Makes sence now you put it that way Not many people know this nut nitroglycerine is used to treat people after a heart attack although itss minute quanities mied with other things to stabalise it but its also given the name glycerol trinitrate so people don't realize they are basically eating an explosive! I told my grandfather this and he thought it was funny to know hw was eathing somehting so unstable! Maths question for you guys now, how does one calculate the blast radius for an explosion? If there a formula to do this? And another one too: How do those shaped blastin charges work like the ones they use to cut through steel lines in demolitions, why not just use a normal explosive charge? And yea Azides sound nasty - do these things have any practial uses other then blowing small quantities of them up? Seeing how toxic they are I would not thing so. Cheers, Ryan Jones
  3. Contact them about a security course, if you do good then they will probably enlist you Cheers, Ryan Jones
  4. Yup, it is a good program but its not strictly a decompiler either because it does other things too Cheers, Ryan Jones
  5. Yea thats the way it should be I am afraid thanks to people who would go out and try and make the stuff! No positing how you make the matrerials or the devices because we want everyone reading this thread to keep their finders, halds and even lives Posting how the materials and stuff work should be fine as long as no-one can make that into a bomb and or firework Accodring to the rules (Which the mods also said were fine), you can talk about the making as long as it does not allow someone else to make the device / material from what you have said (Just miss somehting out or whatever) Flash powder again is fine just gon't tell epople how to mkar this stuff... YT has already talked about it in this thread somewhere! jdurg: Great description! And I right in saying that things that explode just burn really fast or is there nore too it than that? Cheers, Ryan Jones
  6. Yup, it is a good program but its not strictly a decompiler either because it does other things too Cheers, Ryan Jones
  7. I took a computer security course with them (Took 2 years but it was worth every second, lots of hacking and the like involved) and got in that way by passing with one of the highest scores they have had (I was 4th out of all the people who have done the test, a guy I was in the course with came first ). I may still be at school but I have a lot of free time so I find holes in their software - what better way to send my day when I'm not reading or playing with an experiment! Pay is not bad and knowing Windows inside and out gets its uses especially annoying the hell out of the school administrator by taking over the network... I've done this when he tried to annoy me by taking control of the computer when I'm using it. The guy is annoying as hell and I have more than enough programs on my file to block the proxy and the like... again just to annoy him because he can't remove them due to a flaw in Windows securty... I just love annoying him it brings me great joy! As for getting you two copies - your limited to 1 per user, sorry Cheers, Ryan Jones
  8. It actually supposed to have a software one but I'm shure the EU won't like it as it violates privacy so it probably won't even be in anything but the test versions. the reason its in the test version seems to be they are testing out various security ideas most of which will be broken days after the release... Can't give you a source other than official microsoft security testing documentation. Your not even supposed to know about it... Don't ask me to go into any more detail because I can't, I don't want trouble (hope you undestand!) As for removing like I said its not even going to get into the full release, if it does I'll let you know about it Cheers, Ryan Jones
  9. Explosives avoid at all costs. Even if anything is remotly dangerous state that you will not be responsibe for any damage etc. I've seen the effects of some of these unstable chemicals myself and they are not pretty as Lance said they are best avoided Cheers, Ryan Jones
  10. Your first one looks correct I'll show you #2 and lets se if you can do the rest! Aluminium(III) Oxide, [ce]Al2O3[/ce] Splits into... [ce]2Al2O3 <=> 4Al^{+3} + 6O^{-2}[/ce] Anode = positive, cathode = negative. Anode: [ce]6O^{-2} - 12e^{-} -> 3O2 + 12e^{-}[/ce] Cathode: [ce]4Al^{+3} + 12e^{-} -> 4Al[/ce] I ballanced the equation also You may need a little help with the ions that are formed so I'll help you tere too and you can work the equations out: Lithium forms [ce]Li^{+}[/ce] ions Fluoride ions are always: [ce]F^{-}[/ce] Bromide ions are normally: [ce]Br^{-}[/ce] (Unless with something more electronegative) Copper is [ce]Cu^{+}[/ce] in this case. Magnesium is always [ce]Mg^{+}[/ce] Sulphide ions are [ce]S^{-2}[/ce] Good luck! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  11. It shure is! I'd say because it makes the things much eaier to do than would otherwise be possible although sometimes you'd think not but trust me calculus is easier than the other ways and in some cases the only way! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  12. Well, looks like to get some freedom you need to get rid of some, in this case you cna get chemicals but you can't do some interesting experiments with them. Its the opposite here, you can't get a load of the stuff from arround here but when you can say import it you'r allowed to do pyro as long as you don't endanger anyone can. Like I said its normally some idiot that gets all the people a bad name, I know no chemists that live close too me but I know of one kid who got hurt real bad because he messed with acetone peroxide and it wxploded with him in contact with the stuff - not nice but it was his own fault. Anyway back to the topic. My next quesiton to the experts or anyone else: Why do things explode? What is it about them that makes then react so fast? Before we go into this topic let me say that there are two types of explosives (Mainly anyway) HE's and LE's in this care I'm talking about HE's such as nitroglycerine and RDX Cheers, Ryan Jones
  13. I've only ever come accross two of those (None in the wild), they were quite large too because of the compexity of the task. In a way the boot sector is more read only than anything else so its almost impossible to do and a pain in the head to undo. Mind you its not the worst type I've seen though... I've actually seen the code for ones that are capable of flashing ROM and imprinting the logs there. These are way beond anyhting you'll ever see and I cna garantee you that... I very much doubt that you will ever see a boot sector one - infact I cna almost garantee that you will not. Though Microcrap intends to include one in its next windows version to monitor what people are doing to stop illegal programs and the like... good luck, I know where it is and I'll be removing it from mine as soon as I get the new test version! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  14. Chemistry experiments, Chemistry experiments, Chemistry experiments! Detailed list of the apparatus involved (These can be a pain to find)! Scienntific reason as to the experiments result and the expected results Cheers, Ryan Jones
  15. OOPs' date=' sorry. In that case yes your right - its quite easy to do Fortunatly its not easy to do as the boot sector is treated as a hidden part of the hard drive, irt is accessible but only if you know quite a bit about how Windows works fortunatly because if something gets on that part it cna be a pain to remove! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  16. I'm shure you will after Brian has explained it, you'll see why what you've said simply does not work if your looking you buy the book it can be found here Cheers, Ryan Jones
  17. YT2095: Thats quite a complciated setup, no wonder these types of fireworks cost a lot! I bet it must take a lot of work to get one of these things right then? So they are basically like mini-fireworks inside a larger firework that when the larger one explodes a fuse on the smaller ones are set off so that when they are in the correct possitions they all explode making a pattern! Does that mean that the fuse lengths of each of the seperate parts need to vary accordingly?! woelen: You can get chemicals easily there but you can't do any pyro? That sucks so bad! Nice set of descriptions there too! I've never actually worked with or even seen any azides but I'm heared they can be quite dangerous at times. And I'm shure everyone will be interested to hear the results of your experiment! When I started home chemistry a few weeks ago I decided to talk to the local police about whats permitted and whats not - they were happy that I did actually. They basically said anything that does not hurt or disturb people after a certain time - anything below the level that could hurn someone is acceptible without a lisance. Fortunatly I do not intend to mess with this stuff without training first (Some kid arround here did try and mamaged to hurt himself quite badly because he did not know what he was doing)! I have a question for who ever can answer it: why is Sulphur used in a mix? I'm not shure it actually provides any colour so does it do something for the actual reaction like regulate speed or something? Cheers, Ryan Jones
  18. Good description there! The cell suicide feature also releases a warning signal to the rest of the immune system, cancer cells should commit suicide but sometimes they don't leading to a cancer spreading. Cheers, Ryan Jones
  19. Very true but the reason I know about this is related to security testing hence I am forbidden to say any more despite all the informaiton I would like to give I can't (Along with hacking, viruses, spyware and such...) I actually know of a few keyloggers that write to the boot sector, those are the ultimate ones though and your never likley to come accross them. As for USB keyloggers they are not very common yet but they are getting more advanced fast! Problem is relating too how the USB works in conjunction with the keyboard-software interface - makes things a little more complex Cheers, Ryan Jones
  20. Yes it does, increased gravity and increased speed relate to time change (relative of corse). But don't forget there are experts out there in these theories who know these theories much better than anyone at this froum I'd take a bet and what makes you think they'd miss something like that? I don't think so and I rememeber reading about the callanges and how they were beated. If you want a real objective view then read the Fabric of the Cosmos, if you can find something Brina missed then write a paper and submit it! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  21. That explains why when someone threw a copper pipe on a bonfire (No, it was not me) there was a very faint green flame there and yea it looked bad! YT is always right! Its his job to always be right (and all the otehr mods too!) Cheers, Ryan Jones
  22. Ok.... What type of firefork effects can you have? I know thinkgs like Flash-Bang, Flash, fountain, etc. but are there any more exotic types? Also, this is more of a general question than a chemistry one but how do they make those fireworks that produce patterns when they explode like shapes and the like? Those thigns are really impressive! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  23. I hope too some day I'm actually studdying AS level chemistry right now so once I'm done there on to get a masters and what ever other qualifications I need to become a chemist and a pyro chemist at that Chemistry interests me in any shape or form but pyro chemistry is one of my favourites! Cheers, Ryan Jones
