Number of Connections in the Brain
RyanJ replied to aj47's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Yup true. The number of possible combinations though is another matter and far surpasses the number of atoms in the universe by well... a long way I'd think Cheers, Ryan Jones -
Hi there all! Does anyone here use Gmail? Just wondering because I do but I just found something even better - 1000Gb of space free! http://www.mailnation.net/ Its actually true I just signeg up... I'd like to know how they can afford to give all that space for nothign though... Cheers, Ryan Jones

Actually the basic oxygen in out atmosphere (Or most of it wanyway) was formed from chloroplasts and not through cells themselves. The record shows that there were baceria arround for a while before they evolved and in this time the oxygen level did not rise then when the invention of the chloroplast came along the Oxygen levels shot up killing 98% of the species on the planet at that time but alowing people to form! You may try sending an E-mail to Microcrap... ahem Microsoft and see if they can provide more direct assistance Cheers, Ryan Jones

Its solubility is [math]0.0070^{25}[/math] g / 100g [ce]H2O[/ce] Cheers, Ryan Jones

Heres a few links to try (Some programs, some instructions ) http://www.tomdownload.com/utilities/security_encryption/advanced_windows_password_recovery.htm http://www.tomdownload.com/utilities/security_encryption/advanced_windows_password_recovery.htm http://search.microsoft.com/search/results.aspx?st=b&na=88&View=en-us&qu=password+recovery Good luck Cheers, Ryan Jones

I agree with some of those but as for trecognition and telepathy I do not think so. Precognition is forbidden in physics as one can never know the exact outcome of anything - only a probability that one event will occur. Prediction of something and precognition are different, prediction is something of a guess and precognition is more like knowing an poutcome before the outcome has happened. For example how could you predict something you have never seen before and knew nothing about? Telepathy: I don't see how you class this as telepathy, you are not actually communicating to someone else though your mind. Resurrection: This would be an interesting one. We have already achieved some mild success in this after all we cna bring people back who have been dead for less than 8 minutes? Atom Manipulation: This is a good one - the alchemists dream although its not a chemical process as they thought but more like a nuclear one Good list though I don't really agree with your ideas of precognition and telepathy Who knows what will come: We can already create new atoms, break them apart and one day we may be making worholes or even things more bizare than that! Cheers, Ryan Jones

Yup, as with anyhting it varies form one to another (Nothing is as easy as they all are or are all not unfortunatly) You may try a Google search if you are looking for a specific compounds solubility Cheers, Ryan Jones

I'm shure that mitocondria were formed first (And my biol teacher agress with me on this one) because they released the oxygen that allows aerobic respiration to take place, without which the miocondria would not function. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't aerobic respiration require oxygen? If so then the answer must be that somethign like a chloroplast formed first. Cheers, Ryan Jones

You'll have to be a bit more specific. There are hundreds of programming languages out there in two main catorogies (three really...) Catigory 1: Web Programing Catigory 2: Computer Proramming. C beloongs in the second catogory so it all depends on what area you wish to focus If you like computer programmng then things like Visual BASIC, Java or one of the other versions of C may suite you. If you like web programming then Java, PHP, ASP, Javascript my suit you If you'd be more specific to the language(s) then I'd be glad to offer as much help as I can and point out some good references for you Cheers, Ryan Jones

@LazerFazer: I'm not shurw is thats correct but it sounds right - good description Cheers, Ryan Jones

Hard to say - you'd need a pretty impressive machine to move them though Cheers, Ryan Jones

I'll give you heat results - if I give you anything else then that will ruin the experiment. As heat increases so does the rate of reaction untill the point where the enzymes beguin to denature after this point the rate of reaction will rapidly fall to zero. Cheers, Ryan Jones

I've seen the second one before but nope none of those are the one. The one I am refering to is basically a coil just there is something different about it Cheers, Ryan Jones
-
Yea she should do - I'll ask mine too on monday (If they don't know then I'll ask them why not ) Cheers, Ryan Jones
-
No those are are what you will find as your results but you can easily make them into a hypothesis Cheers, Ryan Jones

No problem - I don't remember the name for the cil apparatus but if I do I'll be shure to tell you Like I said there are loads of ways to cool things (You'll definatly want something live so you can mwatch its temperature closly) and I'm shure your school must have oone or more of them That device is clever though, the water that goes through there - something happens to it and one lot of it is made boilling hot and the other part goes freezing cold... I wish I could remember what it was called and then I could look up how it worked again Cheers, Ryan Jones

Number of Connections in the Brain
RyanJ replied to aj47's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Well when you think abut it, it is logical You conider how small a connection is and how many neurons there are in a brain and you get some idea of how its possible Also don't forget that one neuron can have multiple connections - thats another reason for the large numbers and if you also consider the ammount your brain can store (hink about it and it will amaze you ) then you'll see its true Read More: [*]http://science.howstuffworks.com/brain.htm [*]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory [*]http://human-factors.arc.nasa.gov/cognition/tutorials/ModelOf/ Edit: The number of connections in the numan brain is about [math]10^{14}[/math] according to my encyclopedia: Thats amazing when there are only about [math]10^{14}[/math] cells in the human body! Cheers, Ryan Jones
