  1. I know our school has none now thanks to one stupid kid who stole a small flask of the stuff, tripped and sent the stuff splashing all over the school yard - took them a few days to get rid of it all buton the plus side we had a few days off (I didn't miss chemistry so I did not care ) I'm shure there is a huge list of things that schools can and cant' have for security reasons though, doing AS levels, we are allowed to use a greater veriety of chemicals that we were not allowed to before. For example we used quite a few Barium compounds last week, testing their solubility, and as far as I know most barium salts are quite toxic... lucky Barium Sulphate is not soluable too Cheers, Ryan Joens
  2. I've eaten apple seeds in the past and nothing bad has happened so either there is not much there or none at all The real question should be why would you want that stuff? Unless you plan on being interogated... I heared there was a leak of this at my school once, they closed off the whole place and the fire brigade cam ein and had to put some stuff in the air to neutraise it, not even shure if its true though but it sounds pretty nasty stuff. Cheers, Ryan Jones
  3. Dome that, made a pretty puny rocket out of it - well, it went a few feet up anyway Cheers (Already read through your website by the way) Ryan Jones
  4. Oh, I know all about those. Last year I had to write a 2,000 page report on Redox reactions, uses of and stuff like that. Pretty interesting though especially as we got to see a thermite reaction at the end of it Cheers, Ryan Jones
  5. Would it be possible to edit my post title (I can't) to something like Reccomended Experiments for an Amature instead? Cheers, Ryan Jones
  6. Hi there everyone! Would anyone like to reccomend some experiements that an amature try? Forget about the Buying Chemicals Online. I've decided that is probably not best to ask this in public view as it could cause problems if people find out where to get the stuff and then blow them selves up and ruin it for other people, its the last thing I want. If a moderator can change the thread title to something aloong the lines of Reccomended Experiments for an Amature I'd be most greatful Cheers, Ryan Jones
  7. So you couls say find anyhting with the word "Cyanide" in it and go the other way then Cheers, Ryan Jones
  8. Vitamin C is water soluble and is regularly excreted by the body. Therefore, toxicity is very rare. Amounts greater than 2,000 mg/day, however, are not recommended because such high doses can lead to stomach upset and diarrhea. So its probably best they you don't take too much So thats about 20 times the reccomended limit. Cheers, Ryan Jones
  9. It is Its a good thing they did not tell you about it in the book then. Thanks for telling me Cheers, Ryan Jones
  10. Hi there all you fellow chemistry fans! I was recelty reading a chemistry book in school, it was quite new too. I saw a vague reference to 2 chemicals I have never heared of before: Sodium Triiodide ([math]NaI_3[/math]) and Nitrogen Triiodide ([math]NI_3[/math]) Does anyone know what these do and how I would make them? Please note: If they are very dangerous then please say so as I don't want to endanger myself or someone else. Cheers, Ryan Jones
  11. Hi everyone. Recently reading a topic that was asking how you would make Hydrogen Cyanide (Among other things) and of corse there was no reply as I would have expected.
  12. Well, no. Because you have your own reference frame according to Relativity you would pass through the event horizon as normal but to ayone looking from the outside you would seem to be stuck on the surface of the event horizon as your light waves are pulled ever harder untill they take an infinte amount of time to escape, the point at which you seem to be stuck on the holes edge. In reality though you fall into the hole as normal. You could say as space is warped by the signularity, just as time is seen to go in a strait line, time and space go in a strait line to the singularity and thus there is no way to avoid it Cheers, Ryan Jones
  13. Hmm, I see. Thanks for the information woelen Cheers, Ryan Jones
  14. Heres one you may like: http://www.bookrags.com/sciences/chemistry/alchemy-woc.html A Google search for "Alchemy Information" turns up a load more too Also, if you ask specific questions the experts may be able to provide more help Cheers, Ryan Jones
  15. Thanks The Thing, that was exactly what I was looking for Cheers, Ryan Jones
  16. Hi everyone. I'm a but stuck on two questions and have no idea how to approach them as my teacher has never covered them! What amount of each substance is contained in the following: b) [math]1.00 * 10^{22}[/math] atoms of Cu 3) The mass of one molecule of a compound is [math]2.19 * 1^{-22}g[/math]. What is the molar mass of the compound? Any help appreciated Cheers, Ryan Jones Edit: Sorry for the double post - somethign wierd happened while I was posting...
  17. Thanks for those, bookmarked also! Cheers, Ryan Jones
  18. Hmm, thats interesting why can it not de done with Helium in that case? Is it because it is the only group 0 element with 2 elections in its outer shell and not 8? Cheers, Ryan Jones
  19. Bookmarked them both Are there any others too? Cheers, Ryan Jones
  20. Thanks for the information jdurg, very useful Can that be done with all the other group 0 elements also? Cheers, Ryan Jones
  21. I presume you mean blech and Hydrochloric Acid there? I've mixed some things together but I tend to stay away from mixing things like acids with things that I don't know exactly what they are such as bleach Or did you mean Hydrogen Peroxide and Hydrochloric Acid.... Or was it Hydrogen Peroxide and bleach... :S Cheers, Ryan Jones
