Since indications by experiment are that matter at 0 Degrees K or no energy will collapse on itself into a singularity and Black holes with incredible energy can meet the same definition, then are they close to the same thing but from different directions? Maybe mini-black holes are just really cold. Just aman

Issues with Origin, Part 1: The Suddenness of Life
aman replied to blike's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
I'm torn between life being planted and the idea that there is some natural law or pressure that forces life to be generated relatively quickly in certain conditions. It seems even now that in an abundance of energy things have a tendency to grow more complex, using the energy. Something I feel is beyond the microcosm with building instructions that capitalize on energy and materials. It pushes and pressures small things to grow into an ordered greater complexity. I just thought I'd throw that in for thought. Just aman -
Sentience may be engineered into evolution. At a time when food is not the major problem and time is available for observation rather than sleeping, protection and comfort would be pressures to evolve into sentience. Everything that happened in our past seems to make sense toward evolving us. Cold blooded animals had some of the pressures to evolve but not the mechanisms. Apes had the pressures and the mechanisms. It's a fascinating concept. Just aman

A virus is being spread that arrives as a confirmation E-mail from E-Bay saying your order was received on something you didn't order and it has directions for you to question the order and fix the problem. E-Bay is working on it. My cousin received one in CA. and has been in contact with E-Bay about the problem. If you didn't order it. Don't open the E-mail Just aman

I can't think of any way to reverse entropy. Gotta think on this. Thanks Fafalone. Just aman

Two Gunfighters in the street. Reduce it to an equation Statistical speed and accuracy, eyesight and sobriety today, size of targets, guns and ammo statistics. These are objective data. The subjective date is state of mind of the Gunfighters. Are you saying the neurons are all lined up in a mathematical sequence so there can be no other conclusion except one. I think sentience is the ability to change the equation to a different outcome no matter if the equation is correct up to the last 10,000th of a second. I don't believe there is a correct mathematical equation if sentience or even simple life is involved and we can chose or change outcomes. After we chose and act then the past is written forever. Looking at fossil records we can find very ancient and simple bacteria fossils but is there such thing as a virus fossil? It sure would help in figuring this out. Also maybe bacteria evolved in the rich enviroment on Earth and a virus could have evolved in space. Is there evidence of proto-bacteria in the fossil record or any found in research of sulfur-acid caves or black smokers? You'd think a proto-bacteria would resemble a virus. Thanks Fafalone for the question. I have some research to do. Just aman:dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

It's hard to give you any answers that are testable. What is the smallest increment of time we can measure? Photons moving is a good indicator of time but how small of a movement is an increment. Add energy and we can move forward in time at a faster rate. The opposite is not true since no energy still has us moving forward through time only slower. Good question. Just aman

Since the smallest bacteria genome that can reproduce is over 2X the size of the largest virus, and a virus can't reproduce without parasiting the bacterias structures for reproduction, the first conclusion I see is that virus came second. Is that a good guess? Just aman

If the US doesn't get over its problems with viewing the unclothed human body then we are in for a real stinky pile of crap in the future. Not that I wouldn't mind seeing a lot of naked women. Hey I'm a man and that's just what we do. Maybe familiarity might breed adaptation and no response but if we get where we can see under clothes I'd rather we went nude than wrapped in tinfoil. In our existence the quantum problems are irrelevant because we only have one existance relative to us. If we jump out into space and observe from 10 light-minutes away we will see us build a sandwich only one way. Make only one decision and act on it. That's because we are in this singular universe relative to us. We act and it is eternal, broadcast forever into the cosmsos on a clear day or night. Just aman

A driving force for viral evolution sometimes depends on the host infected. Slight differences in hosts like malnutrition or vitamin deficiency can cause a virus genome to change by a small percentage to adapt to host deficiency. Just aman

I read an interesting article in Discover recently about a light scanner for seeing inside people. You know how a very intense light held against the human chest in a dark room will show a pink lit body from the back that will illuminate the room. That means light passes through the body. Our technology is trying to make receivers that interpret the light reflected directly back from the body but by minute time increments. Just below the surface some light gets through and reflects and the same with deeper tissue. By measuring that light that is reflected directly back and tuning the time difference of light reception these receivers can see a total visual scan of the insides of the body. Linked to a computer a diagnostic can be made. The future seems almost here. Just aman

I enjoy Salsa and Celine although I hear Celine can make some people cranky. Try prunes Faf, they'll get you running right. As far as the murderers I hate them being called snipers. It's like calling a burglar who uses a rope, special forces. These are nothing but coward backshooters. 100 yards with a 10 power scope looks like your aiming at a target less than 11 yards away. Thats just backshooters. Cowards. I hope they are too scared to show their heads and the cops have enough clues to get them while they hide. Just aman

Since we live in reality and some day may not be able to distinguish it from virtual reality I believe we can go back in a virtual reality past and do whatever we want till you die of old age. Whats the real difference? Your born, you do stuff, you die, no matter what. Just aman

Thanks blike, This time it was worth reading every page. It answers a lot of questions about things I've been curious about. I saw a guy in a steel factory run his fingers through pouring molten metal and never could understand until now. Little pieces of knowledge help put the whole puzzle together. Just aman

When I was studying vedic sciences I was given a Mantra for my meditations that works incredibly well for me. It is the only one that does and it is for beginners. My life is like a well with tons of crap thrown in but the Mantra takes me down below the crap to the clear water. After fifteen minutes I come back the best that I can be. I've been practicing for almost thirty years, no cults or religious dogma connections. Just the meditations. Is this just a psychological trick or is it actually resetting the brain to perform correctly:flame: Subjectively I vote for reset Just aman:scratch:

It seems as the story of humanity unfolds that if we can imagine doing it, we will find a way to do it. Our record so far seems to be getting better at supporting this. I feel the energy barrier is close and big clues will come when the CERN upgrades are finished in about 2 years. Just aman
