  1. The human body is millions of single cells working together. How we are alive is explainable by science. How we are sentient is still a question.

We can lose our sentience and still be alive.

It's called the pressures for evolution.:slaphead:

  2. A scorpion sting ain't so bad. It only hurts really really bad for about two days. Stepping on a sea urchin hurts worse cus you have to cut the spine out of your foot, but thats only in the Gulf.

    It builds character.:cool2: :cool2:

Snakes won't bite you if you got character. They just bite you if your a jerk.:loser:

With the people there has to be a mutual respect. Takes character.

    I'm just saying don't be a nieve jerk with a phd.:nono:

Be cool with a PHD. :cool2:

Character is as important as education.

  3. You should get a lot of answers on Sept. 16

Fox will show a live Nat. Geo. Special, Pyramids Live.

8-10pm ET worldwide. They will send a custom robot with a high res. camera and the worlds smallest ground penetrating radar up the shaft in the Queens Chamber. Watch it. All the details are at the bottom of the web site I posted in my last response.

    I'll be watching.

    Be ready to discuss.:flame:

  4. It's at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/

I've cranked 60 WUs with my snail Dell with close to 1200 hours so I'm at about 20 hours each.

The best part about it is I joined a group called Skyzdalimit.

They are so friendly and have an incredible amount of tech expertise. I've asked some dumb questions and get an answer to any computer problem within a day by several experts.

I'd recommend you join this group if you sign up for the WU's.

It's worth it just for that.

  5. I still don't understand the prejudice against healthy genetically engineered foods or Gamma radiated foods which can be tested and proven safe but people still will pop all sorts of chemicals into their bodies they have no idea about.

Sometimes I wish we had a few Vulcans here knocking some sense into peoples heads.

My motto has always been, practice moderation in all my excesses. In the USA we are exposed to all sorts of opportunities for excess and you don't have to be rich to practice excess.:nono:

Now if you can stay thin and still eat way to much it will only make the character weak.

And where does all that food go?:toilet:

  6. Since I'm not on my computer a lot I have the Seti@home software running on my little Dell and I process work units from the Aricibo radio telescope in Puerto Rico. It's run in Berkely with almost 4 million volunteers. I am going to be the one to find ET.

Anybody else here doing it?

  7. The Washington monument is topped with pure aluminum, the most precious new metal of the time. If the pyramids had aluminum then maybe they would be signs of advances like you describe.

    Show me the aluminum. :dunno:

    1. Names of your first four girlfriends. :embarass:

    2. Doctors suggestions for your name in maternity.

    3. Nicknames of your High school gang members.:loser:

    4. First seven words of your High school fight song. :bravo:

Am I right yet? Just tell me if I'm warm. or not.

  9. We've had ice ages in the past and all it did was got places a lot colder. We've had shifts in magnetic fields that temporarily left us unshielded from cosmic rays. If we get too hot the Earth will heal by getting too cold. Maybe. All these can be argued because the

Earth is a volatile place. I think a little to volatile to let itself be lightly coated with anything for very long, much less oil.

  10. Thanks Deep. I'm glad CNN has some good news too. I just don't trust surveys like this. If it's true than drug use is down. If its not then we still have the same amount of drug users but now we also got more liars.

I'd like to believe it, but I was a kid so I know. Kids suck :loser:

I'm talking about the useless ones you see. Most of the quiet, unassuming, aware ones stay out of trouble and maybe they are increasing but since thay don't make headlines we don't know.

  11. I tried reading up on beginners quantum entanglement at this site

    http:http://www.mathpages.com/home/kmah174.htm

It sounds to me the entanglement is more of a statistical anamoly that shows the quantum particles are more likely to be entangled than not but it can't be totally counted on yet.

Entanglement seems to me to be a more likely thing than an absolute.

  12. :toilet: It would cripple our already vulnerable economy.

Maybe something that could be phased in might work.

Bad management and greed got us in this situation.

There used to be a very efficient electric train system throughout Orange County and Los Angeles, Ca. but big auto industry and tire industries lobbied and had the whole system scrapped and replaced with buses. It was a big scandal but it still happened. This was back in the fifties.

Big money is hard to fight.:flame:

  13. How do you corrallate the graves and tombs of the craftsmen who worked on building the pyramids being found and dating to the historical Egyptian early period? How could they be buried 4000 years after they built them?

    I'm a proud, capital N, married to a babe, NERD.:cool2:

  15. As long as the world is covered mosly by water and the ocean currents stay the same and the jet streams don't change to much we'll be just fine. Piece of cake.

Theres to many things to blame.

  16. Einstein said there must be a force in our universe that keeps existance stable and called it lambda although he never knew exactly what it was. It must be what keeps an event horizon stable and possibly passes on either side of the horizon without change. It's only known by its effects and mathamatical necessity but seems to be the only force not acknowledged in the field theories. Forces don't have mass but are dependant on it.

Photons don't seem to act like forces but seems to act more like masses dependant on forces.

  17. We have a small model of galaxy development in the planet saturn. If you want to build a scale model and do the math you can learn a lot from Saturn and its rings. Extrapolate how it collected. Then come the analmolies. How come the heaviest elements are in the center. Are there any heavy metals in the rings? That might be a clue also.

    Just for thought.
