Didn't anyone watch Star Trek? huminoid seeds were planted on MANY planets by a species that is now extinct so that the "new life" wouldn't be alone in the universe like they were... which is why all life in the universe looks close to the same. Or maybe it's what happened in Stargate, and an "ancient" race "accended" and left the seeds for humans, and all life in the galexy is humans, but they've evolved to their environments and are slightly different from us. I'm joking by the way.

I'm a fan of special effects and all, but the story was a lot better in the original Matrix. It had the, this could happen to you (sci-fi style) thing going for it. You could identify with Neo because he had no clue what was going on most of the time, he was just along for the ride, like the audience was. The story for Reloaded and Revolutions just seemed a little too much like a sequil. By that I mean, it's a BIG hit, people love it, so lets stretch the story as much as possible. Although, I'm a big fan of the scene with the archetect. Lots of $10 words.

Ok, we recently had some lightning storms here... Some were pretty bad. One of the strikes of lightning struck the church... Theological implications?

At this point, I would like to go on record and apologize for picking this thread in which to start this argument. Yes, my original point was that what I thought to be creationism (which is what many of you have said is intellegent design) is a posibility. Not neseccarely a very probable one, but still a possibility. Just because it's my CURRENT belief (as there was a time when I was a true nutcase creationist), doesn't mean that I'm trying to prove it right, or get you to prove it wrong, just say that it's possible. I wish I hand't posted in this thread now, because now I better understand what a creationist is (as I thought creationist meant some devine being created life. Nothing more), and felt like it was a personal attack on me, and other people like me. This created in me a desire to "fight back" and instead of biting my tongue like I should have, I said something, got into a debate, and proved, yet again, that I have a hard time controling my impulses. When someone invents a time machine, tell me so I can go back in time and stop myself from looking like an idiot in this thread. Again, my apologies.

Did you know that Bling-Bling is a word in a lot of dictionaries now-a-days?

If it's on this site, I can't find it... I've heard that in order for a species to survive, it needs (I believe these were the numbers I heard, I don't swear to their correctness) 13 females and 7 males. (This obviously says that Adam & Eve and Noah's Arc didn't happen.) Can someone explain it to me, or point me to a place where it can be explained? My guess was that (if 1male and 1female), that since everyone has the same genes, eveyone's features would be based off of two possible aspects. eg, mother's eyes or father's eyes. There are no other genetic possibilities. It's probably over my head, but could someone try anyway? Thanks much.

Yes, I know. I wasn't going to say anything about it.

When you start dealing with imaginary/complex numbers, it's no longer true that sin=opp/hyp, cos=adj/hyp... etc... This is a complex sin... For any real x and y, sin(x+iy)=sin(x)cosh(y)+i.cos(x)sinh(y). Sorce (aside from my father) Also, the "imaginary" triangle doesn't have a true right angle in it so sin=/=opp/hyp. Additionally, when sin=undef... if you're getting the hypotinuse from sin=opp/hyp, where sin=1/0. To get the denomitator by itself, you multiply both sides by it, in this case 0. This is the same type of thing that I described in a thread a while ago about singularities, where D=m/v. where v=0. You can't find the mass because to get the mass, you have to multiply both sides by 0, which gives you the equation 0=0. Which is true, but irrelevent. The same concept is true here... where sin(x)=o/h, h=o/sin(x) WHERE sin(x)=/=0, and h=/=0. I don't know if any of that made any sence to you, but I'm sure a math expert will help out any further if needed.

Space existed before the Universe?
BobbyJoeCool replied to who_knows's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
Thank you for elaborating on what I said... I'm mearly pointing out the possibility, that our universe is a four dimentional object in a for dimentional world. IF you're a 2D being, you can walk in a straight line on the surface of our planet and end up in the same place... which is puzzling because you are going straight in one direction, and you end up in the same spot (note how we know how this works because you see 3D). Now, what happens if that sphere gets bigger, The "universe" of the 2D being on the sphere gets bigger, to us it just expands into three dimentional space, but to the 2D being, it just gets bigger even though it seems to not have any space to expand into. Now of course, I can't prove that this is what's happening in our universe today, but I do believe it is in mainstream science in some form, as it's a very plausable explaination to everything. And it's VERY hard to visualize because it's hard to see things in 4D because we are 3D. -
Why does car insurance for men cost more than it does for women? I mean, most of the men I know are very good drivers whereas most of the women I know are completely nuts! "I can't go the speed limit, people will pass me!" ~A girl I work with who's had her licence taken away more than once. Is it just the people around me are different from the rest of the world or is there a logical way to explain this?

So now all we need is someone who hasn't slept in days, get them totally smashed on booze and some sort of narcotic like cocaine, and put a cell phone in their hand and put them behind the wheel of a car... NOTE: If anyone EVERY does this, let me know so that I can be anywhere but where this person will be... Preferably on Air Force One or something...
-
Take it to a jeweler...
-
I've also heard that driving tired is worse than driving drunk... I mean, if you're drunk, you have some control over the wheel, when you fall asleep... what control do you have? On a phone though... with the whole hands free thing most people have nowadays, talking on the phone is like talking to someone in the car. With one minor exception... they can't see when you're about to run that red light when you get distracted by them.

I can see that, but look at it this way... the area between our galaxy and say... M13 Galaxy is empty (aside from a bunch of random atoms) and that space is getting bigger... Also, the expantion of the universe isn't so great at the center (because there isn't as much to expand), and it is possible for atoms to move against this expantion and get to the point of the "center" of the universe. But in answer to your question, it is possible that at the center there is a gigantic void, completely void of anything because the expantion of the universe just carries it away.

and, given the nature of infinity, even though anything times 0=0, infinity is kindof a special case, inft*0 doesn't neccecarely equal 0... I'm not sure how to quote this, because my father is a Math proffesser at a College here in town and he told me that, so I'm sure it's true, and maybe the maths people can explain it better than I can, but glad to be of help!

It's a mistake I made all the time, until my physics teacher taught me to ALWAYS plug the numbers in BEFORE changing the equation in any way (he took off points if you didn't, even if you came up with the right answer... but he gave 80% on tests an "A" (with no minus ), so I'm happy with him).

e=mc^2 determined the amount of energy given off when an atom's nucleus is destroyed (fission). Destroyed is probably not the best word but... The equation is meant to tell you what happens when mass becomes energy. That doesn't happen in this case, mass is just added to mass... Here's a link to a definition of e=mc^2 given by Wikipedia.

We're talking about gravety here. Gravety doesn't have a charge, just a quantity. By your theory, since I have mass and the Earth has mass (both positive), then we should repel eachother (and thus I should be floating in space)... doesn't work that way. The positive mass creates an attractive force while the white hole creates a repulsive force. Which every force is bigger, wins. As in if the black hole is bigger, it sucks up the white hole into it's oblivion. And if the white hole is bigger it pushes the black hole away. Since gravity and magnetisum are closesly related, I can see how you might have confused them, but in magnetisum is where like forces repel and opposite forces attract.

You know... I came to this fourm because I wanted to talk with open minded people about what evolution and creationisum is, and speak about it without having to attack other people. I really thought that people in general were good people and especially scientists, would have an open mind about the realm of plausability. You cannot prove creationisum (at it's core, that life was created by some form of superior being) wrong, so why do you rule it out altogehter? Forgetting about the "odds." Is it possible that evoluition is a direct result of a superior being (note how I don't say suprime being). And that even evolution is controled by said superior being, instead of everything you just said. Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? No. But back to what I said about people on this fourm. I wanted to speak with open-minded people about evolution and creationisum, but all I've seen on this entire fourm is each side attacking the other. Not just the views, but the people who believe them. If that's what this fourm is about, then I guess I'll excersize my free will and not come here anymore... *holds for applause* I know you're all happy because you've driven off yet another "creationist." But you know what, you all believe what you want. If, in the end, you're all right, you can say I told you so. But, you people are painting a picture of scientists in my mind of closed-minded people who have nothing better to do than exercize their ego in saying that anyone who doesn't believe what they do is "evil." At least the creationists I know are NICE about expressing their view, unlike you guys. Kudos to you all for breaking the will of someone who was going to study science but now thinks that all scientisis are like you guys... arrogent, closed-minded, ego maniacs.

Two black holes would suck eachother in, where the repulsive force of two white holes would push them away from eachother. But I do see that if the white hole is "bigger..." Than it's repulsive forces would push the black hole away with greater force than the black hole could pull it, and a smaller black hole could be created. And, since small black holes can actually evaporate (Hawking proved this somehow, and I'm sure someone could provide the link this...), in theory, the intersection of a black and white hole of similar mass could create normal space, and all the mass and energy (and information) contained in a black hole would be expelled into normal space.
-
Ok. in answer to a question asked earlier in the post, if two black holes collide, it would make a bigger black hole. Both black holes have mass, and when they collide, their masses are added to one anthother to create a larger mass (and energy) at the singularity, thus a larger black hole. And I was meerly stating earlier that a while hole is a point that had negative mass (and thus negative energy), and therefor would push things away from it and create a white hole. But I didn't know that such things existed... I mean, in theory, it's possible, but I didn't know that it existed.
