You're right about the repetitive philosophising. Ughhhhhh. When Neo was talking to the Architect I actually started having a seizure. jk. By the way though I don't see how the guns in the first film hid the fact that the W. brothers cant direct and action sequence. The lobby scene was cool as hell. Just because guns were involved doesnt mean the action sequence wasn't good though, it worked perfectly with the guns. I think maybe the problems with the action sequences in Reloaded has to deal with the fact that in the story, Neo knows he's the one, so he lacks effort? I dunno, it just seems like anyone he fights from now on is not worth the effort.

I dunno man, I was bored. I wasn't exactly trying to bump it up, it just happened to be a thread that I wanted to post in, since I still like the first Matrix. Reloaded I didn't think was too bad, it just wasn't the same as the first. I think a lot of people had expectations about it. Looking back that rave scene in Xion, I thought that was pretty cool. On the downside they used way too much of that CGI shite. I knew they were gonna do that though, because they used it for the Animatrix. I hate the CGI Neo, he looks like a freak. Definitely looking forward to Revolutions to see what they do with it. Hopefully there will be lots of bullet time and less CGI and more elaborate martial arts sequences. The martial arts sequences in Reloaded had to be one of the weakest points of the movie, they were just lame.

Old topic. My friend and I used to be obsessed with The Matrix and I've seen it over 20 times. Anyways I'm bored at work and I feel like talking about the Matrix cause I feel under appreciated for my extensive viewing of that damn movie. I think the idea is that once you see the fields, and see what the human race has been reduced to, you're in such a shock from the whole ordeal that you immediately have an urge to rebel against the machines. As for Morpheus he's just a maniac. He's a classic freedom fighter. Most rebels don't believe in mutualism and will fight to the very death for what they believe. And yeah you're right, it is just a story and it is fun to analyze but the plot is quite simple. Even the machines themselves say the Human race is a "virus" who doesnt form an equalibrium with their surrounding environment. If this is so, the humans are obviously offering more evidence to that by not being mutual with the machines. And besides, if you really think about it, being naked in a bunch of pink goo is not the way to live your life, even if the matrix is a fun program. Even if it does produce "reality" through the brain, it's still not life. Also, the machines suck because they try to kill Trinity and Trinity looks damn good in tight leather. In fact, they tried to kill lots of humans during "the war." If they hadn't tried, there wouldnt have been any war. The machines needed energy, and they also thought "wow, humans are digsuting" so they killed and enslaved us. The machines arent giving the humans the matrix as part of a plot to keep us happy while they use us, so that we can be happy. They keep us in the Matrix to keep us unaware of what's happening, and to keep us from rebelling.

it's pretty cool but at the same time disturbing. people really do stuff like that, they get off on that type of thing.

"LONDON (Reuters) -- The universe may be finite, spherical and patched together like a soccer ball, according to U.S. and French researchers. Jeffrey Weeks, a MacArthur Fellow based in Canton, New York, and researchers from the University of Paris and Observatory of Paris studied astronomical data which suggests the universe is finite and made of curved pentagons joined together into a sphere. In research reported in the Thursday edition of the science journal Nature, the scientists said data from NASA's Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe, which maps background radiation left over from the Big Bang, is not consistent with an infinite universe. "Since antiquity, humans have wondered whether our universe is finite or infinite. Now, after more than two millennia of speculation, observational data might finally settle the ancient question," Weeks said. In a commentary on the research, George Ellis of the University of Cape Town in South Africa, said if Weeks and his colleagues are correct we might indeed live is a small, closed universe." http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/space/10/09/universe.soccer.ball.reut/index.html The europeans would love if the universe was shaped like a soccer ball. I can see it now... My opinion is that I hope their data is correct, and I hope the universe is finite.

oh sweet. I didn't know I had to go to the alien homebase. I knew that they psi attacked on mars, cause I went there for like a few turns just to see what it was like, then I loaded my game again. the reason that i've been playing it on and off for 5 years is that I had the playstation version with my games on a memory card. i would play for a while, then I would get frustrated and quit for a while. Soon after I would start playing. Recently I downloaded it and I have been playing it on my computer, which is a whole new game. I finally think I'm on my way because I'm currently training soldiers in psionics, and already researched "cydonia or bust." I always get worried that countries are gonna start hating me though, and then my game would be ruined.

As a "drug user" I think I can add my opinion to the thread. I took certain drugs because I was curious and I was with people who were curious also. As for becoming a junkie, only one "drug" stuck with my body but I dont see it as a problem. I can go to work and maintain a life, but at the end of the night while I'm relaxing I do like to smoke some marijuana and zone out for a little bit. However I do feel like I need it to relax.

I never got a chance to play apocalypse, I want to though. I"ve been playing X-Com on and off for about 5 years and I still havent beat it.
-
You could probably download it pretty easily.

You control a military type program called X-Com to defend the earth against a rising alien threat. You set up bases on the planet, then you shoot down the UFOs. After that you land at the site and you control a squad of soldiers to kill the aliens on the ground. You get to research alien technology, and use it. It's pretty intricate. Eventually you like travel to Mars and kill the aliens there, but I've never gotten that far.

I think a lot of people have heard that story where a guy with a bunch of LSD is his car gets pulled over by a cop, and he puts it all in his sock and starts to sweat while sitting there. An hour later he is tripping extremely hard. I pretty much thought thas was a rumor.

I dont know if I should post this in here but I wanted to make a thread to see if anyone still likes this game. I've been trying to beat it for so long that once I finally beat it it's going to suck. It's pretty fun right? Even if it is pretty old. Am I the only one that thinks they should make a new one with all the same mechanics, just better graphics?

I'm with Max on this one. Trying to find life in other parts of our solar system kind of seems like a joke and a waste of money and time. I guess we have to do it anyways, for science.

I've been playing violent videogames since I was like 9 and I can't tell if I always wanted to shoot people, or the videogames put those fantasies in my head.

I dunno, the frontal lobe thing was just my opinion. Seems if you're missing a physical piece of your body you're handicapped. I was just exaggerating.

Will Man ever become extinct??

war is ingrained in our primtive brain. fact is people like to kill people, especially in war. when bullets start flying, you're going to be happy to kill the person thats trying to kill you. anyone can be converted into a killer, even if they join the military for the economical benefits. I think someone who likes war is not any more likely to die in combat before anyone else. if anything, they'll survive longer on instinct. -
I disagree with people being called mentaly handicapped if they're bi-polar. It makes them sound retarded, or like theres something wrong with them, when there isn't. It's not a mental handicap its just an imbalance. A mental handicap would be not having any frontal lobe.

heh, nah. "alien abductions" are just dreams or hallucinations.

yesterday in Boston they had a freedom rally for marijuana. hightimes and NORML sponsored it. I was there it was pretty cool. there was free music, and tons of vendors to buy merchandise from. people were smoking joints and blunts and pretty much anything else in the area in front of the stage, and the cops kept a conscious distance from that area, but they were around. It's funny how at concerts at rally's like that, the cops dont care about people getting high. Alaska is already moving towards reforming laws, and I think the rest of the country is on its way. very cool gathering yesterday. the cops were cool.

personally I never have been able to do it, but I did have this weird dream once. I fell asleep with my arms above my head after i got home from school or something, and next thing I knew i was like in the same room that appeared to be at the same time but I couldnt move my body. then this person with no face walked into the room and moved next to me and put their knee on my chest and pushed down. it was a really really weird feeling, it felt like i was being pushed down through the bed. they walked out of the room backwards and came back in and did the same thing. it happened one more time and then i was just laying there. at this point i knew i was having some sort of sleep paralysis so i was just kind of waiting, but i started to get frustrated because it was annoying not being able to move my arms. then i started to hear a humming noise in my ear and i heard what sounded like people talking in my ear. at that point i could feel my arms starting to come back and next thing I knew i opened my eyes and sat up. it was weird, but cool.

Have you ever watched it? Do you think it's cool? Have you ever played the videogame? Is it "better" than UFC? I for one think it's a pretty cool sport. I like it more than I like boxing, and I think it's about time this type of fighting can be broadcast and have a big following. I'm relatively new to watching but so far I like it a lot. It really tests the emotions and skills that humans have. Not to mention its pretty damn exciting, it gets your adrenaline flowing. You never know when someones gonna land that big face crushing flying knee or thundering knock out punch. A lot of skill is involved in managing yourself when someone tries to get you into a submission, and you reverse it and get out. It's damn cool. The videogame is hard and sometimes I feel like I broke my hand smashing the buttons on my controller.
