Mutation and evolution
cambrian_exp replied to cambrian_exp's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
In order for a mutation to be inherited, it must occur in the genetic material of a sex cell . but what about asexually reproducing animals like microbes? how then they evovled in to sexually reproducing animals? thus evolution cant work without genetic variation and only mutation can bring that! -
well see this...http://www.christiananswers.net/q-eden/genetic-mutations.html Mutations behave like a "blind gunman," a destroyer who shoots his deadly "bullets" randomly into beautifully designed models of living molecular machinery. In all this research, not one mutation that increased the efficiency of a genetically coded human protein has been found. !!! then how can evolution happen?
-
evolution of new species can occur only when genetic variation occurs. but how will species evovle if it is reproducing asexually ( genetic variation cannot occur) and since genetic variation can occur only on mutations. and mutations are rare and most of them are harmful for living organisms and does not make much impact on genepool .according to this evolution site... http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evosite/evo101/IVBMechanisms.shtml "Mutation: Some “green genes” randomly mutated to “brown genes” (although since any particular mutation is rare, this process alone cannot account for a big change in allele frequency over one generation)." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- see this para from that site states that mutation ( the basic principal on which evolution functions ) is rare and cannot account for big change, then how did asexually reproducing species evovled during edicaran times? for genetic drift and gene flow to happen there must be genetic variation happaning first! and that basic principal of genetic variation is rare and harmful! ( i m talking about asexual reproduction because they cant exchange genes by sex , i think they only have 1 way that is mutations) if u have any link then send me which will better explain this problem

well i got this forums idea from a tv programme called origins which told what would have happened if chordates losed evolutionary battle with arthropods during cambrian exp -

cambrian_exp replied to cambrian_exp's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
hey acording to evolution every living thing tries to survive and reproduce than why does sucide and homosexuality ( opposite to survive and reproduce ) have arisen in mankind? ---- (hey dont think that i am creationalist ) -

cambrian_exp replied to cambrian_exp's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
hmm , only these things can stop creationalists .............. 1) proof of life on other planets ( even bacteria or microbes will do because bible says there is no life on other worlds) 2) solution to origin of life... i mean finding how chemicals (non living things ) became singled celled creatures by the way some creationist say that dinosaur survived after flood 6000 years ago thats why some fossils are not mineralized , fossil only mineralize if they all are too old. and some do say that there is flaw in carbon dating and other dating methods. and u know in churches they show pictures of fossils of man with dinosaurs....shits and they say that world scientists are making conspiracy by not showing those fossils because they are setting up world for Antichrist ( end of world ) ) and things like that !!!! -
i just wanted to know that is music science? or related? since it has its own theory , language and exprimentation ( rock music was invinted by exprimenting on blues and metal by exprimenting on rock)

against evolution
cambrian_exp replied to cambrian_exp's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
i was talking about bibalical creationatnism . by the way i found this.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------.. Second, wherever one observes information, whether in a book, on a sign or from the words “I love you” in the sand, one intuitively knows the information came from an intelligent source. Information is far too complex to come from a natural source like wind or water erosion. DNA is known to be a long string of assembly instructions for building an entire organism, animal or person. The amount of code in DNA for even the simplest life form, bacteria, would fill entire sets of encyclopedias. Since information is always from an author; logically, the code in DNA is from the magnificent author--God. While evolutionists provide rhetoric that evolution is true they really have very little evidence. Evolutionists misrepresent and distort the creationist view while claiming that any change within a kind is evidence for evolution. In reality, changes within kinds better represent the creationist view. If evolution is true, reveal to us laboratory evidence for upward changes that go beyond a virus, bacteria or any other kind of organism. ============================================================ i really have poor english ;-) -
i got these paragraphs from creationist websites. how to answer them? Later Adolf Hitler indeed applied the Darwinist concept of the "survival of the fittest" to the human race. During World War II the Nazis forcibly sterilized more than two million people and began systematically exterminating people whom Hitler considered to be inferior. The Nazis justified their atrocities by rationalizing that they were doing mankind a service with "genetic cleansing" to improve the races. As long as evolution-with its implications of amorality and the survival-of-the-fittest mentality among "superior" and "inferior" races-is accepted and believed, genocide, as sporadic ethnic cleansings in various parts of the globe show, will have a scientific justification, even though most believers in Darwinist theory would object to this conclusion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- What Does the Fossil Record Show? Traditional evolutionary theory predicts a fossil record that would contain: Simple life forms gradually appearing with similar predecessors. Simple life forms gradually changing over time into more-complex forms. Countless transitional links between kinds of creatures. Beginnings of and partially completed features such as new limbs, bones and organs. The biblical account of creation predicts a fossil record that would contain: Complex life forms suddenly appearing with no evolutionary predecessors. Complex life forms multiplying "after their kinds" (Genesis 6:20), but with limited variety within those kinds. No transitional links between kinds of creatures. No partial features such as new limbs, bones and organs; all parts are complete and fully functional. After years of study and research, what does the fossil record show? Complex life forms suddenly appearing with no evolutionary predecessors. (Cambrian Explosion) Complex life forms multiplying "after their kinds," but with limited variety within each species. No transitional links between kinds of creatures. No partial features such as new limbs, bones and organs; all parts are complete and fully functional. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blood Clotting: A Biological Miracle One relatively simple process necessary for animal life is the ability for blood to clot to seal a wound and prevent an injured animal (or person) from bleeding to death. Yet the only way this intricate system works is when many complicated chemical substances interact. If only one ingredient is missing or doesn't function in the right way-as in the genetic blood disorder hemophilia-the process fails, and the victim bleeds to death. How can complex substances appear at just the right time in the right proportions and mix properly to clot blood and prevent death? Either they function flawlessly or clotting doesn't work at all. At the same time, medical science is aware of clotting at the wrong time. Blood clots that cut off the flow of oxygen to the brain are a leading cause of strokes and often result in paralysis or death. When blood clots, either everything works perfectly or the likely outcome is death. For evolution to have led to this astounding phenomenon, multiple mutations of just the right kind had to converge simultaneously or the mutations would be useless. Evolutionists can offer no realistic explanation of how this is possible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- If there isn't a just God to judge the actions of men, isn't it easier for man to do as he pleases? Sir Julian Huxley admitted why many quickly embraced evolution with such fervor: "I suppose the reason we leaped at The Origin of Species was because the idea of God interfered with our sexual mores" (James Kennedy, Why I Believe, 1999, p. 49). He later wrote, "The sense of spiritual relief which comes from rejecting the idea of God as a super-human being is enormous" (Essays of a Humanist, 1966, p. 223). Could this perspective have something to do with the immorality rampant in so many schools and universities where God is banned from the classroom and evolutionary theory is accepted and taught as fact? Can the Genesis account be reconciled with the idea of an ancient earth? What about evolution? How strong is its case? -----------------------------------------------------------------------

size of arthropods
cambrian_exp replied to cambrian_exp's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
but spider and dragonflies dont have exoskeleton? then why cant they grow upto 3-4 metres and i know of largest arthropod which lived during silurian times, it was sea scoropian that grew up to 1.2 metres. cant these creature produce intellegence? and what abt mollusks? i mean mostly all invertebrates are small. none of them matches the dinosaurs and mammals and birds. -
i would like to ask that can arthropods become as large as humans? or elephants? . what if all the chordates ancestors were wiped out during cambrian era , then did arthropods would have produced some large creatures or an intelligent creature? if u have any web link on this topic then post it

Von Neumann probes may be cause of origin of life
cambrian_exp replied to cambrian_exp's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
However, a possible explanation for why Earth still has life on it in the presence of berserker probes is that berserker probes, in order to remain energy efficient, remain dormant in space awaiting activation by a sign of intelligent life. One can assume that berserker probes are designed to eliminate advanced intelligences only. And that to civilizations like Phase II , which may be using gravitation waves as means of communication instead of radio waves or some other forms . This probes may be awaiting in our own solarsystem? who can tell? universe is so big and life can arise even in place like antartica ! -
Von Neumann probes sent out to cultivate seeds of life through out galaxy may be the cause of origin of life on earth. just think that, we type 0 civilization can think of this.. then what ideas and technology civilization type III would be having. Or it is entirely possible that berserker probes may have caused mass extintions like that during dinosaurs, by delibrately sending astoroied to hit the earth so that life may not develop or remain under control or to sterlize the galaxy so that other intelligent civilization may not arise. Completing such project would take only half million year . -------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berserker_probe

but what i mean to say is that theropods and birds may have evovled from common ancestor rather than birds from theorpods. thats why birds embroyoes retain II III and V digits of their ancestor's hands while theropods retain I II and III. Mokele i didnt understand your point. what do you mean by developmental patterns change in macro evolutionary time scale. do u mean to say that theropods had I II and III digits and when they changed to birds their pattern of hand also changed?
-
recently i read in a book which suggested birds may have evovled from small lizard like ancestor rather than theropods. it said that, fossils of earliest birds appear in mid-jurrasic period while its theropod feathered ancestor in early creteacous . secondly reptiles started from five fingered ancestors, hence early dinosaurs retained this feature. but theropod retained only I II and III digits that is thumb index and middle finger while bird's fingers are reduced to 1 but recent embroynic studies has suggested that they have II III and V fingers . i.e index middle and last. ALL This suggests that although it has reptailian orgin birds didnt came from dinosaurs. --------------------------------------------------------------- all this was written in that rubbish book, and i m afraid of that. i personally belive dinosaurs were avian ancestors.. does any of u has any web site addresss which suggests non-dinosaurian ancestry of birds? forgive me for my poor english as it is not my first language, not also second. but third i m from india thats why

even if after 200 years earth will not be fit... we would remain on earth because it will much better than other planets like mars ( too cold no oxygen) and venus too hot. hey and what about sun.... may be in 100 million years our sun would have increased in luminosity. we only have 1 billion years.. after that oceans on earth will evopurate. and has any one seen future is wild series?

does anyone hear knows about john titor? what you think of his time travel being true? or he was just a fraud?

recently i read a book called rise of prehistoric vertebrates.. can any one tell me names of some tertiary predatory birds other than Diatryma and Gastronis.. (my spell may be inncorrect ) . were there any other large dino-like birds comparable to diatryma in tertiary or quaternary worlds?

What did cause the Cambrian Explosion?
cambrian_exp replied to MaxCathedral's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
during cambrian explosion basic body plans of multicellular life on earth were established... then why didnt it happened again in earth's history. i mean why did no new phylum emerged after cambrian explosion?
