Enlighten me, please, on what your thesis actually is? Because the questions in that survey, ask about Turkey, and the outside world's view on it.

Yes, you cannot "clone a frog" without a "top-of-the-line" laboratory and modern equipment. I am not even sure if there are really any DNA experiments that can be performed without such materials.

Can you consider rape victims abortions justifiable based upon lack of consented intent to become pregnant? (m) I am Anti-Abortion, and in the case of Rape and lack of consented intent to become pregnant, I believe that abortion is not justified. Just because the mother was raped, this does not mean that the child is not a living being. If the mother still, after birth, does not want the child, she can eaisly put it up for adoption, rather than have it killed. Lack of consented intent to become pregant does not mean the child is not alive. Every being should have the opportunity to experience the world and live life the way they want to, not be killed because some man raped the mother...

Time Is of the Essence!!!! Technology Is Evolving!!!
Mike Kovich replied to Sostyles's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
I read about this recently, where this machine would take in used water, split it into hydrogen and oxygen, then combine them again, making fresh water. I suppose this would work... But other than money and water, your idea seems to work.. Lets try to refine this idea a bit more, its pretty good so far Also, about the money thing: We may find this important, but its not important in the eyes of everyone else...you have to think of things from the perspectives of others also. And, the International Space Station was an example, basically, if we had a structure capable of holding a spacecraft, it could work. -
I have researched this area a bit more, and decided that it just is not the thing I am looking to do...it is mainly observation, I think I am going to do something in Physics or Cosmology, maybe Engineering. Science is so broad, its hard to narrow it down to a good topic....

Time Is of the Essence!!!! Technology Is Evolving!!!
Mike Kovich replied to Sostyles's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
Well, it makes a lot of sense. On the International Space Station (My Avatar) we can build something like a ship dock, and simply start building from there. After the ship is built, already in space, as you said, we wouldn't have to launch it through our atmosphere. This would cost an immense amount of money, but I do see where you are coming from. Eco-sphere...quite advanced for our current technology is it not? Also, as aforementioned, where would you get the water to sustain all of these living things? -
Contemplating using Opera rather than Firefox
Mike Kovich replied to Cap'n Refsmmat's topic in Computer Science
I have read everything here, I have checked both websites and.... I am going to be using [hide]Firefox, because it owns other browsers lol.[/hide] -
http://www.pandorabots.com/botmaster/en/home It is not really a java thing, but you can register (Free) and then create a robot, you can build it, train it with responses, and soooo much more. Once you are done, you can put it on your website. You can even view the chat logs between people and your bot.

I have received a reply from George Smoot, I inquired about what he does during a normal days work and any suggestions of websites or books he may have. Several minutes after I sent my email, he replied. This is his reply letter, thought you might find it interesting: --------------------------------------------------------- Dear Michael Kovich, I am more senior now and a Professor. So I have a large and varied number of things that I do. Typically, during the school year I have teaching activities three or four days per week of a total of about 4 hours in class, 6 hours of office, and similar amount of time preparing lectures, demonstrations, grading etc. I do research and administration with the rest of my time and that includes lab work, analyzing data, training students and post doctoral fellows, reading papers and attending lectures and seminars (talks on recent research). There are very many popular books on astrophysics and cosmology of varying levels from popular to fairly technical. They depend upon your level of preparation. You should also visit a web site we are developing for high school (and sharp middle school) students at UniverseAdventure.org Best Wishes George Smoot

Once again, a lot of information. I enjoyed reading it. I am going to contact some Professors and other successful Astrophysicists, I am going to do so after typing this. I'm not too far from Penn State, my brother who is 21 is going to Penn State Main Campus in the Field of Aeronautical Engineering and Various Propulsion Systems I believe. I will find the times and such of various lectures and seminars as you suggested and go there. While I am there, ill take a look at the bookstore. Now, another question, does Time and things like that fit into Astrophysics? In a post on SFN I seen an "Aspiring Astrophysicist" as he calls himself, talking about Time and his ideas about it... Thanks, Mike Edit: What other fields of science include studying Space? What other fields include studying Time? Where would I look to find information on the Relativity Theory?
-
Okay, well, If I was an Astrophysicist, what would I be doing on a typical day of work?
-
Definitely quite a lot of information. I thank you very much for taking the time to tell me it. Here is the thing, I suppose I should have stated this in my beginning post, I am only thirteen. Anyway, thank you, but do you have any information on where to start learning about Astrophysics, the stuff you are telling me about is a bit over-my-head? Could you define astrophysics in your own words? Thanks again.

I read, that you can use Vegetable Oil (they suggest that you do something like go to a Chinese Restaurant and ask for used oil) then using that rather than gasoline... http://www.mtv.com/thinkmtv/environment/renewable_fuel.jhtml ...does this work with all cars? So, can I just go to a restaurant, get the Vegetable Oil, then put it in my car? What are your thoughts?

Hello All, I joined SFN a while back, but I have not been too active, I intend to change that. Anyway, I am only thirteen. I have been striving for years to discover a field of science to go into, and I believe, it will be Astrophysics. I have information on this field, and I have been finding as much information as I can. After awhile, I thought that maybe you people could help me. What exactly is astrophysics, in your own words if possible? Can anybody give me some links, maybe the titles of some good books? Thank You, Michael Kovich

Yes, we plan on http://www.InternationalDiscussionForums.net to be a great place for people of all ages, races, genders, etc to visit and partake in contribution of information and discussions. IDF should be up and running very shortly and it has a home on IRC. IDF is going to be the next biggest forum (Aside from SFN of course). We hope a lot of you show interest in this project and help make it a success. (Oh, and JPQuiceno wouldn't mind if you donated funds to this project because it is becoming costly ;-)) Basically, just check out http://www.InternationalDiscussionForums.net and see if you can help, and remember to check back soon because the actual forums should be up and running tomorrow!

Hello Everyone, I require some assistance in the matter of science fair experiments. I am entering these science fairs for the second year now, last year I won first place in engineering. This year, I need new material, but I have no idea what to select as a project. I am not coming up with anything and I figured this is the best place to turn to. So if anyone has some science fair experiments (must be experiments not projects) please tell me, its really important! Even if someone could give me a theory or hypothesis I could most likely make it into an experiment. I could get my hands on almost any materials and I have until lets say somewhere around Jan. - Feb. 2006 to get this done, possibly a little more. Thanks, Mike

I require a bit of assistance...
Mike Kovich replied to Mike Kovich's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
I am not only interested in astronomy but thats what I decided to work at first. I wanted to learn about space and such and then move to other subjects. Around my area we do not have things like math, science, and electronics clubs, because no one around here is interested in that stuff except me... I think I will take your advice though and start getting some books, ill do that tomorrow I have been interested in science, engineering, and technology for as long as I can remember. Well if anyone else has some ideas I would enjoy reading them. -
As some of you may or may not have noticed, I am only thirteen. I am profoundly intelligent and plan on being a scientist or engineer in the future. Some of you may have read my very few posts but in conclusion, I am asking for some help. I want to learn about space and things in that area but the things they teach us in school are not informative and are basically insignificant pieces of information. Where should I begin to learn about space/astronomy? I have no idea where to find information on this subject but it is of an immense importance to myself. Please extend any assistance you can. Thank You, Mike

Our space program is a joke. They arent working to colonize other planets. Our last shuttle up was to collect garbage.... If an asteroid was heading to Earth (for the sake of argument) and it was going to hit in lets say 32 years, we would develop more technology in those 32 years then we have ever...ironic isnt it?
