Very interesting post. Your answer seems reasonable and is worth more investigation. I have the same problem with water as the oringinal poster, water makes my stomach cramp, I feel bloated and nauseated after ingestion, and it doesn't seem to quench my thirst. I have tried adding lemon, a little grapefruit juice, or sugar to make water more palatable and to see if the additional ingredients will help to make me less thirsty after I drink it. I prefer tepid water, I don't drink very cold water because it hurts my teeth and irritates my stomach but I still get relatively the same symptoms; bloating, nausea, etc. We have installed a filter on our sink and then we fill a container that has a built-in filter with the pre-filtered water. I get the same symptoms even when I drink bottled water.
At least I know that I am not the only person who has this problem. People find it very strange that I get sick from drinking water. They criticize me for not drinking water saying that it is unhealthy to avoid it. Pain is a warning sign, it lets your brain know that something isn't right. Isn't it more unhealthy not to listen to your body and continue to do the things that cause it pain?
