  1. Now what will they call it when they find a new 5-quark particle? pentaquark 2? heh. So doe sthis mean there could be more and more combinations of quarks we havn't yet discovered?
  2. Quite interesting, but we already knew that!
  3. 60-40 mystery!
  4. Thank God not all people are ignorant If you want to be a white hat then there are unlimited resources. If you want to be a black hat (aka a cracker) there are still loads of tutorial, depending on what you want to do. Be a white hat
  5. Open Source: The source code (the actual code as it was written before being compiled) is freely avaliable, and you can modify it to improve / personalise it. Linux: A user friendly OS which gives you more control over what your computer actually does than windows. You could try BSD aswell. If your new to computers you should install a GUI for linux, just to get to grips with it, soo you will find you are using the shell nearly all the time.
  6. Stopping production completley is not possible, it will jus become very scarce, so prices will rocket, so all the hard core addicts will steal more to pay for their addiction.
  7. I understand, thanks
  8. I should find out what most of what you guys just said means, then maybe i could reply.
  9. I don't think so, my logic (which is undoubtedly flawed) says there will be some fndamental particle, probably not a quark, but not much smaller.
  10. Thanks I get it now, but y = ln x is not a straight line, so you shouldn't use pythagaros. Are you just using it because it's nearly straight, or is there another way to answer the question?
  11. NavajoEverclear: I already showed where the 1 = 9 trick goes wrong.
  12. Could someone please explain how to get the formula for the length of the arc please?
  13. More importantly, why does pi come up in all areas of science?
  14. Maths 'tricks' are stupid, they only work on people who don't understand maths. This is correct. Now you have square rooted both sides, and added one. Nope, the lhs is 1 + sqrt(cos(x)^2) The 1 is added to make the lhs positive, as you can't sqrt a negative number (unless you want to go into imaginary numbers). So when the -0.5 is squared it becomes +0.25. Then is square rooted to be +0.5. The one is added and it all works out. 2.25 = 2.25
  15. The Babylonians used a symboy as a placeholder long before 1700 BC, it's more like 3000 BC. The Greeks later used a round symbol to note the gap. In 642 AD the Moslem's destroyed the great library of Alexandria. Most of the ancient Greek mathematics was lost, but a few books survived. Later the Hindu's in India realised zero was a number in it's own right. Years earlier Aristotle had said it could not be a number as dividing something by zero was incomprehensible. Brahmagupta used the division of something by zero to be a definition of infinity. It was India who also made the counting system we use today.
