  1. Did some searching myself for the origin. That funny piece of text is present in more than a few forums now. (all without reference) http://www.bisso.com/ujg_archives/000224.html there is also a version with 'Elingsh uinervtisy' and one with just 'uinervtisy'
  2. I think MrL_JaKiri said something about it indirectly in one of his first messages. Gravity does have the same effect although I'm not sure about that. (because it's also the same acceleration effect) MrL_JaKiri? any clear explanation ?
  3. That is interesting I didn't know that. I did read your text without a single hesitation. But I quess I do have an advantage I have dyslexia so I'm more 'trained' to read it that way. The other way to look at it is if they are in the right order then it's an advantage for most people but not if you have dyslexia.
  4. This isn't really an DX9 test but a DX7+DX8+DX9 Test. So it's an overall hardware performance test: Here are neither ATI or Nvidia a clear winner. http://www.guru3d.com/article.php?cat=article&id=76&pagenumber=1 To be honest they are soo close that you may think that something is wrong. The differences are below 5% The problem is you don't really know when DX9 or DX8 is used.
  5. http://www.allstar.fiu.edu/aerojava/bernoulli.htm if you want to find something with google add 'Bernoulli' here you can find all kind of physics info: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/hframe.html (The best physics collection site I know) wing lift is about conservation of energy, isn't everything
  6. NASA today announced a major milestone in the development of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the selection of a beryllium-based mirror technology for the telescope's 6.5-meter primary mirror. The JWST prime contractor, Northrop Grumman, Redondo Beach, Calif., recommended to NASA the mirror technology, supplied by Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corporation, Boulder, Colo., be selected for the JWST primary mirror. http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/2003/27/text
  7. not a medical opinion: I don't think our eyes would adapt noticable but our brain could probably learn to filter the right info better. Just to clear something up: LED= Light Emitting Diode Soo LED doesn't mean IR or UV or visual light.
  8. examples: Y=X=1 1^1=1^1 (1=1) Y=X=2 2^2=2^2 (4=4) Y=X=3 3^3=3^3 (27=27) Y=X=4 4^4=4^4 (256=256) Y<>X 2^4=4^2 (16=16) Although I can imagine it is looping in your head They say I have a lot of patience
  9. Soo you are the one that invented loops ?? serious: I have no idea what loops have to do with this equation. It's like (but more complicated): x^2=2Y what is X? Answer X=SQRT(2Y)
  10. Yes, together with all the other numbers you can think of (assuming y=x)
  11. I assume you use a balance to measure ?
  12. Yeah, I know I was curious so I did search the internet a bit. This could be a good start: (I can't read it) http://www.zahlentheorie.de/forum/messages/618.html If you want more brain trouble you can find that here: http://www.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/~sillke/ solution : http://www.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/~sillke/PUZZLES/x%5Ey-x%5Ey
  13. A few more DX9 (HL2) preliminary tests: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973,1261768,00.asp and http://www.gamersdepot.com/hardware/video_cards/ati_vs_nvidia/dx9_desktop/HL2_benchmarks/002.htm "Valve will have Half-Life 2 treat NV3x hardware as DX8.1 hardware for the default settings." Poor Nvidia Glad that my Ti4600 is still performing very well (wish I had an DX9 ATI card though)
  14. You mean you have to build your own alternator ? Well, magnets and wire and start building (the wire or the magnet has to move) An elektric fan is an electrical component. Fans are mechanical components. you have to specify how far you can go. (I quess components are allowed but no devices) otherwise it's going to be sticks and leaves.
  15. if x=y is already one solution I guess you already knew that one
  16. call someone with your mobile and hold your phone close to your monitor. (not very healthy for your monitor) Your mobile is a strong transmitter.
  17. Before taking control of Iraq: We go to war independant of what the UN says. after they went to war: "Members of the United Nations now have an opportunity, and the responsibility, to assume a broader role in assuring that Iraq becomes a free and democratic nation." Since when are the results of his decisions the responsibility of the UN ??? If he was a child you would let him learn the hard way so he wouldn't make the same mistake twice but there are two things why you can't really do that now. 1) a lot of people in iraq suffer from his decision. (This was never his concern the oil was his primary target.) 2) I would be surprised if he learns from his mistakes.
  18. The lower the resistance the higher the heat: meaning: series R+R = 2R parallel R//R = R/2 (smallest resistence highest head) P=U*U/R
  19. Yes, of course it depends on the conditions but we assume the same conditions for a 'safety tets' otherwise it would be like cheating. Having to add money to it to make it equally safe means it's not that safe.
  20. It was a rhetorical question
  21. Is hydrogen cheaper/safer than diesel ?
  22. I don't like it. Imagine you are standing on the football field ready to play and then suddenly you remember that you forgot your oil !! Or they drop an EM bom and you die. Or you feel very attracted to a girl, after a while it turns out she was only carrying a very big magnet.
  23. I agree that it is extremely unlikely, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. - Contaminating mars/area on mars possibly. - That we find our own contamination after some time, very unlikely. The most important question is one that hasn't been answered "is/was there life on mars?" if not then there isn't anything to contaminate.
  24. yeah, I know what you meant. I just wanted to turn things around
  25. What if life on mars accidentely did contaminated earth before they stopped living or stopped living there. That brings up the question how long would it take before all our satellites fall back to earth. (without someone correcting them of course)
