  1. changing operating system because you want to learn how to program is a bit drastic. Learning to work with/in Linux is already an learning experience on its own. You can later always change to linux (or add Linux) when YOU know why you want to change to Linux.http://www.suse.com/ (55Euro) BTW which language do you prefer or doesn't that matter for you?
  2. It may not be much in the past but I'm pretty sure 1000 in the futute will be much. why?? because we are more and more taking 'natural' selection in our own hands. We are just starting to change genes.
  3. 1000 years that is long. (assuming we are still here) Wel then you sure should consider all kinds of implants connected to the brain. keyboard will be history that's for sure. thinkboard3001 that wil be a hot item. 1000 years is so long that everything you come up with is good enough. Also keep this quote of Einstein in mind: "I don't know with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones"
  4. We need to silence him before he figures out the truth
  5. You are missing the point you van only see one bandwith of 5Mhz at the same time. also keep in mind that the noise radiation is always there you just don't see it if there is a stong signal on it that strongly decreases the noise/signal-amplification in the TV.
  6. 600Mhz ??? The bandwith of one channel is about 5MHz.
  7. Touch a probe of an oscilloscope then you will see the signal. (a sinus that has some extra smaller signals on it) 50Hz in Europe 60Hz in America. (power electricity cables) You are an conductor in a magnetic/electric field, like an antenna.
  8. Escape velocity is the velocity needed to escape the gravity. But we are talking about throwing a stone. an engine that compensates the grafity force during travel has notting to do with escape velocity. I don't think the helium balloon is giving us enough height gain and you will still have to launch but this time under worse conditions.
  9. Maybe you can start here: http://www.perldoc.com/ An hour google would help you out. Remember that programming isn't just programming everyone has his/her own style. Like everyone paints the same paintng a different way.
  10. different ways: http://home.tiscali.be/kpmoerman/special/special.htm#cube Obviouly the smart way is the one you were supposed to find. Easy when you know the answer. I didn't know it either when that problem was given to me. (I burried myself under with star to triangle calculations)
  11. Like I said: pointless to discuss it now.

  14. Also still too cloudy/rainy here (Belgium) I have an 11.5cm Newton telescope (f=900mm). 300x theoretically but really 150x This will help us for now although the "LIVE" thing is so much greater. http://hubblesite.org/
  15. Because (DoomIII or HL 2) aren't out yet I think we would both be wasting our time saying which cards are better. But one thing is for sure at the moment, it is 1-0 for ATI in DX9 games. (and not by a small margin) I don't know about Doom3 but from what I heard from developers it's very likely that HL2 will make it 2-0.
  16. UT2003 is DX8 Doom3, Half Life2, DeusEx 2, Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness: are DX9 games. Doom3 isn't out yet but Half Life2 is said (not proven yet, it's not out) to be faster on ATI cards.
  17. All of them, read the article please. Close in DX8 games yes. I'm talking about DX9 performance. If you would read that article from that link I gave you wouldn't be saying that.
  18. interesting read: http://www.beyond3d.com/misc/traod_dx9perf/ Although most of you will probably already know that buying an FX isn't really a smart idea. --------------------------------- info about windows 64bit for AMD64 available here: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winhec/pres03.mspx Well, then we have at least more than one thread LOL, the board automatically changed 'ASS' to 'TAIL' in the subject.
  19. I did build this game PC for me: AthlonXP1700+ @1800+ 128+256MB PC2100 DDR GF4 Ti4600 with TV-in (128MB) Deluxe with 3D shutter glasses. DVD-player 5X SCSI CD plexwriter 12/4/32 SCSI 2 hard disks IDE For the internet I use this one (with cable connection) Athlon650 256MB PC133 AIW Rage128 (32MB) DVD-Writer Sony DRU500AX (I won this writer with a correct F1 prognosis) CD-player 34x IDE 3 Hard disks (one SCSI) They are connected with a network card and with an electronic PC swith (Monitor, keyboard, Mouse, Sound) Mid next year I plan to buy new core comp. CPU,MEM,MB Probably an AMD64 but benchmarks and price will decide. If it's a cold winter then I will buy an Prescott (there is about 2years between my PC upgrades) I would like to have more MEM in my game PC but it will have to wait until I upgrade, this MB can't handle DDR400
  20. LOL, Probably true, only people that score close to 100 should not need those plates.
  21. Well, I don't know anything about 'G. K. Chesterton' but he seems to have some very funny quotes. About Albert Einsteins quote: I think it's just his way of expressing how he sees the world. I'm sure you can understand that. And although I don't believe in a God I don't think that this universe is made up out of coincidence. Is it relevant? Well that is relative to your point of view Edit: I just realize that you probably talked about relevancy with IQ-test. Nevermind: I thought we already agreed that they were useless. Edit2: Jus in case you wonder about what I mean with funny quotes, here is one: "The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because they are generally the same people." G. K. Chesterton
  22. Do you mean the quote you just gave or one in a previous post ?
  23. This will help you: http://www.space.com/spacewatch/where_is_mars.html too much clouds here
  24. - Music (why do we all like it it's not like it is food) You better do a check on that because the shaders changed form 2.0 to 2.1 so there is a hardware difference. P.S. The R360 is knocking on the door now.
  25. Yes, they keep saying that everywhere but do you have data about which test he did at which age? if you see an IQ list with famous people it is most of the time followed with: "It is important to remember that the numbers given above are estimates." So did he do something great and then they did put an high IQ on him? I'm sure his score wasn't low though P.S. Did you know that Einsteins brain weighted a lot less than the average male brain (although the density of neurons was greater)
