  1. Heat Shock Proteins Baby!!! Exercise, Study and Evolve!!! Serious... Oh and try some Psychotropes, Nootropes, etc... Later when the technology is right then you can try embedding some neuroelectrical systems...
  2. Wow... I wish I had time to search for their patent... JUST LIKE HERBALIFE... Take a red pill then a brown pill then a tan pill... You'll feel great!!! Until the FDA makes them take the ephedra out of them. It's funny... One person starts a thread and acts like a potential customer of the product... Then a representative shows up on the same thread and defends it.... I wonder how many times this person has sold this product like this....
  3. It is caused by n flux of Calcium if I remember right. I can't remember if it is an influx or out.
  4. Wouldn't you be concerned with calories using a calorimeter and the Basal Energy Expenditure, then build upon that? I know Wattage as Voltage multiplied by Current. This is electrical.... Not metabolic. This is where we gain most of our thermal content... Right?
  5. The wikipedia entry for Influenza tells you about Influenza A, B and C and the animals they infect. It's a very quick read if you skip down to Influenza A, B and C...
  6. Typically I think it is the secondary metabolites that are psychotropic. Most of the time they are alkaloids. I don't know if animals produce alkaloids. then there is the fact that anything with a brain would have neurotransmitters. These are almost all psycho-ACTIVE. The problem is administration without degradation.
  7. I love when someone becomes passionate about a subject to devote such time and organization of resources. Thank you! I am interested in maybe trying to give this a twist. I would be interested in innoculation, incubation, isolation, inspection and identification of purified cultures for microbiological research and development. Is there a way to add terra pretta to hydroponic systems? I have not had time to dig into your database. Later when I have time I'll be back and try to answer my questions. I figure you might benefit also... lol Thanks, Brandon
  8. You want a screen filter, not a Chemical filter (ie. Carbon). The chemical filter will react with the nutrients. The micron size off the screen is important. If you go to home depot or another hardware store you will probably find water drip and spray equipment. They usually have the filters there.
  9. I too am a hydro grower. I try not to use pH up or down. If you use General Hydroponic 3 part nutrient it will adjust your pH to about 6 for you. Your ppm and pH will be just about right for the application (seedling, veg, transition, bloom). I'm trying to figure out a good buffer for the system also. I'm thinking Dipotassium Phosphate and Monopotassium Phosphate. I have to analyze this and see how it works in application. If you keep this thread alive I will report my findings. The pH scale math formulas are all logarithmic from what I understand. What nutes are you using? What strain? hehe... I'm running Auto Flowering strains of Hindu Kush and Diesel Ryder. If you get into the gentics let me know!!! I'm building databases of inheritance patterns as I collect data. Soon I'll be adding two more auto strains and following non auto and auto hybrid patterns.
  10. I would think of the brain and neural plasticity more in terms of a binary storage system with an integrated processor. I don't think you would have millions of signal cues. Consider Developmental biology. There is what are known as homeotic and homeobox genes that contain a general guidline for differentiation.
  11. By the Epitope. You should really get a 15 dollar Schaumm's Outline: Immunology book. Or a General Biology book. They have some really good illustrations that would take 40 pages of typing to explain. You could also search the net for some illustrations. It's really a complex process that can easily be broken down to a couple of good pictures and flow charts.
  12. Wow... I've got to add my 2 cents.... A Prion I believe is an enzyme that has become destructive yet virulent. I believe that it has come to existence by evolution. With the number of enzymes and the functionality of the enzyme I believe that it has to be one of the better ideas. Consider the various anatomy and physiology of enzymes: The Alosteric site The Active Site etc... I believe that this is just another flaw that will work itself out through evolution. The method of infection, transmission, etc... is most likely inherited (yet not always expressed), etc... I'm not a prionologist... lol... But when I sit through various lectures I have developed this as my personal thought on the subject.
  13. I would imagine it would depend on the type of laser. If you consider the semiconductor based laser I would imagine it would depend on the semiconductor. If the semiconductor was developed with nanotechology you could probably get the power consumption down very low. The amount of Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER) could be reduced. You really would need to propose an application for this laser. Coherence of the wavelenght is important for the photons to avoid bumping into each other. This reduces the scattering. To maintain the wave you would also have to consider the amplitude and frequency. If you are talking about a single photon per second you are only considering only the actual amplification of the light through the stimulated emmision. You would really need to explain your interest and /or application.
  14. Consider genomics, developmental biology, embryology, etc... It would require a huge number of attempts to genomically combine the homeotic/homeobox genes. You would see much more guess work until you have a very good understanding of the genome, genes, expression factors, etc... You would more than likely develop cancerous and or mutant organisms that will not reach maturity. Until you have developed a database that approaches to answer some of the important factors you will be shooting in the dark. Understand the needed modifications to the circulatory system among many other issues.
  15. An electropositive radical is a free electron in a shell. Typically most people think of free radicals. They are very reactive. Obviously they are capable of providing a electropositive charge on a species. Typically an electron produces a negative charge (electronegative). An electropositive radical vs. an electronegative species is something you could consider in a seperate thread (to maintain clarity). Water is not a salt. Water has covalent bonds which share electrons. An ionic bond is required to make a salt (in my definition). That is what the above definition is trying to tell you in a technical term. A radical is the free electron on the element which makes it reactive. A salt is made from a anion and a cation. Ionic bonds vs. covalent bonds are the primary issues to consider. There are also different types of covalent bonds (pi, sigma, etc...). I'm sure if you look into ionic bonds you will notice the electronegative and electropositive radical / charge interactions to make the bond. To think about the physical differences between an ionic bond think about the boiling point of salts versus any organic matter with a covalent bond. The Boiling point of salt is very high in comparrison to covalently bound molecules. Hope this puts you on the right direction.
  16. Sorry no alien ships or organisms to reverse engineer except our own. We have developed communities that adapt and evolve in cyber space. I believe this to be alien to the physical world. hehe
  17. If it is not in the Quran then they will not do it. Their every action is so tightly governed by the text that their society is not meant to evolve a complex society in which the world has become. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged The idea that Obama is a Muslim is mostly due to the fact that he is an Indonesian and is hated by such a large republican party among other racially and hate motivated people. I don't think the issue is about Islamophobia. I believe it is about the human rights issues that develop through the interpretation of Sharia Law and other strict Islamic laws. I believe that everyone will hate and fear the alright dude next door that is living with such interconflict within their own head and households. These interconflicts rise from living in society that is not aligned with the Quran. We are Infidels and will always be. As Islam spreads they will always try to create an islamic state in which they can live. This would completely trump every constitutional and human right we have ever developed. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged Waging war on terrorists does not cost a lot unless your occupying the area (as we chose to in respect to help re-stabilizethe a government for democratic developmental purposes of the indigenous). We are spending so much because we are trying to rebuild a country that is in civil war. The majority of the war is violence directed between sunni and shite. While trying to maintain a presesnce and influence in a region that is fed hate and lies by Persian / Iranian Influencial puppets such as Irans "President". We all know it is the Ayatollahs that are running the country and oppressing Reform. The Ayatolahs are Revivalists with a strong influence into Strict Islamic Law. This is the obvious oppression of the GREEN PARTY which IS SUPPORTING ISLAMIC REFORM!!!!! NOT ISLAMIC REVIVAL!!!!! THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT YOU COULD CONSIDER THE GOOD GUYS. Then you have the Malitias supporting ISLAMIC REFORM.... These are the guys supporting the Revival (Going back to the old days of no human rights just live by interpretation of the Quran). These Malitias are the guys that support similar views of strict Islamic law as that of Osama Bin Laden. We are losing these wars because we have destabilized the region and spent so much trying to fight and restabilize. We have tried to win the hearts and minds of a people that are told that we are there to steal their oil and convert and kill muslim people. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged How can you expect "Islam" to reject radical islam when Islam is divided in itself (ex. Shia, Sunni, etc...). At the same time you have to define Radical Islam. I define radical islam as any form of islam that does not consider human rights, womens rights, civil rights, etc... and uses any form of Quranic interpretation of Sharia Law or any Strict Islamic law.
  18. It is developmental biology. Homeotic and homeobox genes. Your right lung has three lobes. The Left side has two lobes. The heart is on the left side where there is only two lung lobes. The heart structure and function has a lot to do with its location. The various pressures inside the vessels help maintain a framework, along with the chambers they are in. Consult an embryology, developmental biology, anatomy, pathology, and many other sources/ texts.
  19. Well... What do you know and what do you need help clarifying? This is not the "we will do your homework and research for you.net forum". Post the details and most people will help clarify any misunderstandings and data.
  20. I have tried a graft that has been done by others and have been unsuccessful. It really is an art. Most of my grafts were of succulents and cacti. If you find any good reading about it please let us know in this thread. I am hoping to learn a bit about the practice also. From the scattered sources I have read, I believe there is very little limitations as long as the vascular tissues can connect and maintain integrity. There is no immunological rejections from what I understand. As I don't think plants don't really have an immune system. There are defense mechanisms but I don't think they are considered immune based systems. As far as terminology there is the rootstock and the scion. The scion being the rootless component in the graft. As far as the various other tissues, I'm not sure how they interact and develop a stable platform/ connection to support the scion. Good Luck!
  21. I recently had a little bug I was not familiar with. It was not all you ask for but I figure i will comment. I had back pain for a little while and didn't think too much about it. It ended up being a bacterial infection that causes join pain. The doctor did a blood test and I was positive for an antigen. It was the Antistreptolysin O Ab test that was high at 264 (the normmal range is 0-200).
  22. You mention "minimize leakage from underground storage". I think the CO2 will be absorbed or fixed by lime. Much like a rebreather used during scuba diving.
  23. I think there is much we can do now that has not been a focus before. Mr. Skeptic: I understand what your talking about. Lots of thought to go deeper into interspecies genomic integration. This is just something that peaks my interest and I will consider continuously throughout time. George: Yes the wired article has discussed the proteins seperated from Newts and application to mouse muscle with the result of stem cell development. I'm sure there are many other experiments to include humans. It would be nice to have a good collection of journals related to the subject. CahryonY: NEB, VWR, and various lab suppliers are essential for developing a price range for lab development. I have plenty of books on the various general to specialized subjects/protocols. I am just pumping thought out to gather reactions form others in the similar frame of mind. This is just my little think tank. I will be considering various other threads for the need. Right now I'm just kinda getting to know you all. Thanks!
  24. If you are trying to maintain genetic diversity you would want to promote breeding projects. How about a website where you: 1. send a sample of DNA. 2. are introduced to others based on genetic factors. You could cure disease by breeding out various genetic diseases. Recieve a free genetic profile with the a membership of 2 years or more! I think we should call it DNA-DATE.com
  25. I think we are not too far from the possibility. I have been looking into the biobricks and NEB.com and think there is some good resources. Yet, I have sooo much more to read in various areas of bio. Organizing these resources and referencing material in various threads will possibly bring us on the same page. Have you worked with agrobacterium, tissue cultures, palsmid vectors, etc? What kind of work do you currently do and specialize in? I'm currently preparing for plant tissue cultures and then later hopefully animal tissue cultures. I would like to culture various non/cancerous tissues and understand it more by growing. A focus on culturing various cells/tissues will help me understand the nutritional needs of the cells/tissues. It seems in plant tissue cultures there is various mediums for the need. First you need a callus medium to dedifferentiate the plant cells Second you need a rooting medium last you neet a shoot developing medium. The difference between the mediums seem to be primarily hormonal. I'm wondering if there is much of a difference for animal cells/tissue.?. I'm guessing there is not much known on dedifferentiating animal cells. Here's what I foundd so far: ://www.hhmi.org/research/investigators/keating.html in Laymens terms: ://www.wired.com/medtech/genetics/news/2005/04/67155
