What the hell is this.........
-
First off. Math as we have made it encompass is man-made. Applying the "halves" of math to reality is HUMAN ERROR. Much of math is universal - this is a stupid illogical application of math that (obviously) is wrong in reality. One can use halves and never get the reality answer, or one can use addition and multiplcation and get the reality answer. What this person is saying is that time does not have continuous values. It's idiotic for ANYONE here to even try to prove or disprove this. Time is merely a function of space. If space is discrete, then it's likely time is as well. But this person has provided an age old concept (this is nothing new) with no evidence that I see. And ultimately, who cares.

Well. There really are two reasons why humans to date wouldn't be able to explain something. 1. We haven't discovered the scientific tools yet. 2. We haven't even given it effort. For number one an example would be the specific of the first 1/4 of a second of our universe. For number two an example might be why there is a ham sandwich sitting on a table on pluto. We don't know about the ham sandwich yet, so we couldn't know why it got there! So I guess would you mean is what we can't seem to find the ability to answer. There's really nothing experimentally - it's pretty much all theoretical approaches (used because experiements are impossible) that hold "us" back....

Linux, Open Source, Operating System
Intelligence replied to NavajoEverclear's topic in Computer Science
linux is an OS. What makes it different than windows is that it's NOT windows. Open source means that the code used to make it is public and you can obtain a copy - edit it to your own means............ ......and essentially change is so much that it becomes your own UNIQUE operating system. so you want to hack...... .......why. What will you get out of hacking something? It's really not worth it there's nothing to be gotten. -
it was a whale people. I whale. There was another "blob" discovered i think in a cave. It smelled soooooooooooo bad this one...... ..........what this one is hasn't been determined.

What the hell is it. I read the first ten lines, seemed like complete idiocy. Someone summarize the point here.

I want mystery. Do it.

The search for primitive life. Why?
Intelligence replied to matter's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
Read above for the link to the Europa mission date. Frankly I have serious issues with NASA. NASA does not have a number one interest in "finding life", they're merely a group of astrogeologists is what they are. I mean what they do is their choice - I sure would like all the funding to go to the mars water missions and to Europa - but that's just me. I mean let's face it bubs, finding any multi-cellular (or multi-something) life would be incredible. That we lived when it happened, wow what are the odds!!!! Which could happen - I mean it wouldn't suprise me - I'll be alive for quite a bit much longer, sooner or later it's bound to happen. It's amazing how amaetur we are in space. Shoot we ain't even personally been to another planet, what pansies are we? -
What do you mean look smaller. This has too many assumptions. If you stood an an infinitely white space, and I put an object you'd never seen before RIGHT in front of your face and 50 feet away..... ......You'd never know how far away each was. The only reason you judge an objects size is: 1. You are familiar with the size this object SHOULD be at a certain distance 2. You are comparing how much of the background this object blots out. This is why people say the camera ads ten pounds. Because your eyes look AROUND an object and can see more of the background BEHIND the object. A camera does NOT have this depth, being only one eye - and thus it sees LESS of the background behind an object and the object looks slightly larger. Make sense?

It is good to know that with 2 billion MORE people on the planet since this idea really became scientific reality - that we are still only 6 degrees away. Many of you saw my comment about a neural network in another column. When I read this news today on cnn.com I got thinking - It would be so cool to, merely by interviewing people and getting a list of people they can communicate with.......to begin to build a network of people. Wouldn't that be cool? I mean if one wanted to do this on a large scale it's insane. I don't mean I'm gonna do it! But that it would be an interesting thing would it not? Just imagine a website with the database and graphical GUI where you can follow your path to say....... .......Britney Spears .......President Bush Wouldn't that be kinda neat?

Quark. I don't know you nor anything about you. But I would like to say I AM SO PLEASED TO HERE YOU ARE TEACHING YOUR CHILD THE CRITIAL THINKING OBJECTIVE PROCESS OF SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTATION. You just made my dammed day.

I think I can sum up Glider's comments. I wasn't going to type up for you all the stupid ways therapists go about "dealing" with someones therapy. It's complete and total political idiocy. There is, was, and always will be certain methods which work BETTER for someone than others. You damn well wouldn't have a doctor picking from a bag of medicine to decide which pill you'll get. The doctor will use the MOST affective one for your specific case with the LEAST amount of side effects. This is the largest problem we have in the field of psychology and it's sickening. A therapist has a BIAS philosophy about what method of therapy they'd like to use, and they use it on EVERY client they get no matter whether it's success ratio is HIGH OR LOW for a particle statistical client. I absolutely cannot stand this aspect of therapy, and it kills me that it is still taught in undergraduate AND graduate schools that these methods are of a therapists choice. It's as if you can go to one physician who will ALWAYS perscribe PAXIL, while another will ALWAYS perscribe ZOLOFT no matter what the case. The worst thing is that clients do not know this. The average person seeking therapy has no idea that a therapist will always use the identical method. Sorry to get off subject but Gliders post riled me up. Not that Glider is saying this is good or bad - but it just got me started.

It is HIGHLY LIKELY your gold fish has a bacterial infection because of it's water content. Do ya clean the water every week at least?

In otherwords you don't have the BALLS to admit you posted 20 links to idiotic untruthful pieces of information. It's no wonder it's so easy to disprove everything you say - all you know you learned from random personal internet websites. Monkey - by the way I work as a medical neuroscientist - I know medicine.
-
Here comes monkey with his untruths, little troll Hahnemannian444 you are right. Here is a quote from the NATIONAL CENTER FOR HOMEOPATHY http://www.homeopathic.org/news1100.htm End of Story. Someone ban this troll.
-
I see about 4 movies a year at most......I only see the very well done ones in the genres I like. The perfect movies with no flaws in story.
-
Monkey - I couldn't help but notice how plain stupid your signature definition of truth is. I've never heard of a more twisted mentality.
-
You guys aren't apparently seeing a big point here. In movies violence is fake - and known to be fake. Nudity is ALWAYS real. Duh!

...to program something simple in VisualBasic for example. It's the language the book I'm reading uses - what exactly do you need to program in this language? Provide some type of link please, thanks!

I didn't mean that the entire sun blots out in a blink - I meant that when you use a filter on the telescope that sees light that removes coronal spectrums than all you see is a dot - which is usuall color enhanced to BLUE for hot, and white for hotter - not your normal red shades. Then the planet crosses it appears as a black dot. The dot in some photos is 1/100 the size, but can clearly be followed in a time lapse video. so I was generalizing about the blink....... -
If you are only 16 then do not worry. I'm not going to critique the mentality of a 16 year old that's like commenting on a project before it's done..... ......If you are NOT religious then you're ahead enough, and if you're not then there's no hope. You say "nothing can be proven" But this is logically impossible. If nothing can, then that statements that nothing can be proven CANNOT be proven. Therefore it's false and something can be proven....... Of course claims can be proven. There's no faith in accepting the claim that a value can is completely true.

Sad thing is girls who were spanked when they were young are more likely to grow up to like older men spanking them during sex. They are also MUCH more likely to grow up to be sexually subserviant to males.....usually males that were there fathers age at the time of the spankings. Thanks for the kinky chicks!

NOTE: On further examination I am wrong only 2 planets have been found using this method, but 160 found using ALL methods. See here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/2636643.stm
