  1. what is a "Chronon"? please cite a reference to this words meaning (outside of a Starfleet academy training manual) so that we may All be enlightened. Cheers
  2. I`v no idea, I guess you`ll have to do some research for that? but to ensure the message doesn`t get bumped down too much, I`v made this thread temporarily sticky for now.
  3. did "Biasm" really pass your spell checker?
  4. no one here has ever been asked to cite Everything, but when Asked to cite a claim, it`s usually best to do so. otherwise you end up with a place that`s full of garbage and little in the way of true Science and facts, and I don`t think Anyone wants that!
  5. yeah, I posted it here a few days ago: here
  6. Because it`s There.
  7. maybe I`m just a boring old man, but I thought the idea was Love and Protect your kids no matter what? seems to me it`s all about Selfishness on the immature parents part without a seconds thought for the child.
  8. well let`s look at it from a Chemical level, you say you`ll get Chloride and sulphate ions on one side, and so you`ll likely have Mg,Ca and Fe ions on the other side (assuming tap water is used). ok, having that established how long do you expect these "ions" (in Very minute traces I might add) to last after hitting the Stomach? you`de get a greater effect overall just adding some Mg, Fe, and Ca hydroxide by the teaspoon to the water and drinking it! incidentally that would require several 10`s of gallons of water and lord knows how much electricity to produce doing it their way even then the effect would be very little unless you had bad acid from a curry or something.
  9. up until This point: it sounded a lot like Acupressure, and anecdotally I can say it and more specifically acupuncture can be quite effective in some pain manegement albeit temporary in my case. but "rolled up and tucked in an odd place" sounds a bit, how shall we say... Strange? and certainly in need of more Accurate elaboration.
  10. I`m thinking:
  11. no, I don`t think "Dick" would too bright either
  12. your computer parsed a series of 1`s and 0`s in an HTML format through Tables that broke it down into Machine code would be more accurate assembly language is just MC translated into mnemonics.
  13. I have a 1953 all metal Pickett slide rule in its original leather case here too, although I haven`t the remotest idea of how to use it?
  14. actually this has reminded me of an Idea I have for a possible White beam laser using Red/Green and Blue solid lasing materials as rods whose cross section looks like a 1/3`rd of a pizza slice (120 degree angle I think it would be), and these are put together to form a rod and then fused with an induction heater. would the middle bit give a white light? or would it just be like 1 giant TV pixel? sorry for the Off Topic sidetrack but the OP has been answered and I didn`t think it warranted a new thread.
  15. I got quite a few from here many years ago: http://www.scichem.com/ the nice part is that they`re only a 10 minute drive away too the bottom of this page onwards: http://www.scichem.com/products.aspx?id=-1&tier1=Safety&tier2=Hazard+Warning&resultsperpage=100&page=2
  16. There is a major flaw in Internet Explorer that could allow attackers to steal passwords or take control of your computer. For more information see: BBC NEWS | Technology | Serious security flaw found in IE and lots more at: Slashdot | Experts Say To Switch Browsers In Light of IE Vulnerability Experts are advising people to switch to another browser such as Firefox or Opera.
  17. the AC128`s rock, I made my 1`st radio with those in 73, I`v made valve radios too, and also all the gates in valves, just for a giggle I`v also made my own Valves before now too!
  18. LOL, I rem being forced to learn Octal because I had no BCD 7 segment driver chips, I could have bought some but that meant leaving the house (I was quite anti-social back then). I printed up a conversion chart on my Commodore PET and then memorised it, I kinda miss those days.
  19. yup, but more specifically Binary. the OP codes for the CPU are represented in HEX for us really. you may tell him that a guy who has designed and built his own computer From scratch (chip level) told you this
  20. I`m not disputing what your saying there, but a Thermit reaction requires that the Other metal be Oxidised, so unless the carrier was made of Rust... well, you can see where I`m going with this
  21. the sodium ion is far too reactive for any HCl or Cl2 to escape into the air, you`r quite safe in that regard. Do however be careful when adding Metals to Hydrogen peroxide, depending on the strength and metal used, the reaction can be quite energetic.
  22. I would hope that after nearly 3 years he`s got it sorted now
  23. that`s nice dear, now how about answering the question you were asked
  24. I agree, and it was a documentary aimed towards the general public (I think we already have a thread about "Discovery channel" type documentaries as well). to be honest those where the Only times I`v heard it used as a concept.
  25. if it`s any help, that young fella with the odd haircut and almost constant grin that presents some of the recent LHC documentaries has said it a few times. I forgot his name. edit: Found it, he`s Dr Brian Cox.
