  1. I`ve heard that some snakes can too Rattlesnakes for sure can. I`ve tried my cats with this IR light, I can`t make up my mind if they can see it or not, are they just ignoring me whilst thinking "he`s a complete nut case" or they just can`t see it, and when they seem to be able to, could it be sound that`s making their heads move tracking me with ears instead? It`s a very high output on this IR transmitter, I can blind my web-cam with it across a room, so I`m sure if they could see it, they`de look away? Glider, are there any foods that you know off that contain this protein or would act as a co-enzyme to enhance already existing proteins? carrots I`ve heard help, but I`m not sure if it`s and old wives tale or not
  2. Faf, you never cease to amaze me! don`t s`pose you got any pics of it as well? (wouldn`t surprise me). You can certainly tell who goes to the superior University! (sorry Blike)
  3. did anyone hear about that "Amnesty" offered to pirates that swap files, they`ll effectively be "let off the hook" if they promise to "change their ways" ROFLOL, wtf`s that all about? "yes your honour, I prommise never to do it again, I`ll be a good boy now" snigger snigger, lets see if I can find a new proxy router next time. LOL I mean how the hell are they gunna enforce that? it`ll just goto DCC in chat rooms (it already exists there now). shall I bring the marshmallows to the bonfire too?
  4. true, but it is the minority that get effected adversly, it`s a pity that when they DO get effected though, it`s very dramatic! take a look here at the "Difficult experiences" and the "Bad Trips" posts, pretty scary stuff! http://www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_Cannabis.shtml I can rellate to a few of the stories myself, that`s why I don`t smoke it myself, had some laced stuff about 16 years ago, I`ve never touched it since, even the smell gives me an uneasy feeling (Pavlov Dogs). but on the whole, I don`t think it`s a bad drug, it`s just like any other, Moderation`s the key.
  5. What`s the difference between a Hypothesis a Postulate and a Preposition or a Theory? they all seem quite similar to me, and just bigger words for "Idea".
  6. Enrolled at College last week, and instead of doing just Science, I`ve decided to take Maths as well (on the advice of a few friends). Oddly enough, I`m actualy looking forwards to it And we STILL haven`t had our results from last years Sign Language course It`s a good thing this years choices didn`t depend of having it!

    aww man

well as far I remember it was just the A level that you did at college over 2 years, now year one is called AS lev and year 2 is called A2 so it`s the same really but it probably employed a room full of people to call it that and over complicate it, helping bring down the unemployment figures from the A level you can then go on to university (If you have your other basics, Maths English etc...).

    Yikes!

    Definately a "Kodak Moment"
  9. that`s not really refraction, refraction is more akin to re-direction, rather than slowing
  10. Yup, same principal
  11. Excellent! be sure to let us know how you get on with it Good Luck and all the best

    Yikes!

Holy crap! heads are gunna roll for that! gravity`s a real downer I curse Newton for inventing it!
  13. A friend of mine used to design model aircraft, I remember him mentioning something about Reynolds numbers and Laminar flow. maybe a google search for these will help a little All the best
  14. So with the right proteins in the rods, we could enhance our ability to see IR and wouldn`t necesarily need a specialised sense organ for it. but since it would be the rods we`de just see it as white light (a bit like the cam does). and the vague deep red color, is just leakage into the visible spectrum that my CONES detect? so it`s nothing really at all to do with IR? Kinda makes a little sense now
  15. Fafalone, yeah, to a point, it is true that some people have adverse reactions to the weed, paranoia, panic attacks, Schitzophenic episodes. But it does have the advantage of being temporary and impossible to overdose on whereas "harder" drugs can kill you outright if you take too much. Class `C`? what exactly does that mean in real terms? what other things are class C that I may have heard of? and do Alcohol and Tobacco have a drug class?
  16. the fuel is an organic peroxide, HMTD (HexaMethyleneTriperoxideDiamine) it has a detonation velocity of near 6000 meters per second, but at a low density in the open it will just flash off it seemed ideal as it leaves no solid wastes and Is quiet easy to make.
  17. It`s been annonced today that in the UK the police will no longer arrest you for possesion of cannabis, and in 4 months time it will be degraded in status to a class C drug. no weights or exact measurements were given as to how much constitutes possesion or "dealing", but it`s a step in the right direction and I don`t even smoke the stuff !!!
  18. In pyrotechnics Chlorine donors are often used to enhance certain colors (blues in copper for example). powdered PVC is used. I`de like to know it Fluorine would make them brighter/more vivid? and could PTFE, PolyTetraFuoroEthylene (teflon) could be converted for the same purpose?
  19. I`ve made what seems to be a great rocket fuel!, for solid rocket motors (model), the only problem is that it detonates I need a binder/regulator to make it Viable. I`ve tried plasticising it (Blu-Tak and petrol, then collect the liquid when the grit drops out) that just makes a plastic explosive I`ve tried solidifying it in Styrene, but then it doesn`t burn reliably is too much used, and not enough and crumbles or blows up maybe a good idea to add this: DDT= Deflagration to Detonation Transition. any ideas?
  20. So... it would be possible to see IR light with the correct proteins (that we have anyway but not enough to be usable)? A group that was bread in that environ would produce eventualy (IR seeing beings). would that involve a random gene that allowed that person to see more succesfully and therfore re-produce, or would it just happen anyway gradualy over time? Could someone be "injected" with these proteins within a lifetime and appreciate the benefits of it, maybe only slight? a bit like "carrots help you see in the dark" tale.? And, Is it the rods or cones in your eye that picks up the near IR? I recon it`s the cones as they deal with color, but could be wrong?

    aww man

not familiar with that? how does that compare to the UK A`level? or now the AS and A2 level (yeah they changed it again) ya need an A`lev to just understand the level system

    aww man

AP? chemistry what`s that? the AP part
  23. yeah, and you`ll usualy find the cheaper the cam the more range (frequency) you`ll get. it`s do with the quality/purity of the silicon doping in the CCD`s, the more impurities the broader the band it`ll look at, specific devices exploit this and so you get IR specific CCD`s that the firemen use and rescue workers etc... could/would your body adapt over years though? I know it would be a cruel experiment to try on any living thing sure, but it would sure be interesting to find out Another thing (yes probably VERY stupid I`m sure) but when shining this IR light (that you can hardly see) into one eye, I noticed that there was a distinct difference in my vision! it lasted about 2 mins, but it was a bit like being out of focus and things seemed difficult to see, a bit like walking indoors after being in bright sun, but without the darkening effect? so eyes CAN detect something? (I tried on both eyes in case it was fluke).
  24. yeah that`s how I used it to test that all my assorted IR LEDs were working and batts in the remotes YT2095 selects <Cheat Mode>
  25. yeah, it`s a high powered Inrfa-Red (IR) Light Emiting Diode(LED). Good point Kedas
