ROFLOL, sounds like when we used to play "Manhunt" `cept we used airguns and lead pellets (surprisingly few injuries). where do actualy play this and is it legal anymore? as for camping, good point, but it involves (or can do) GPS treasure hunts and who can start a fire fastest with only things you can find, and who can drink the most beer and remain standing, then who can scare the crap outa who with the best ghost story at night, See Loadza phun )

"November Rain" by Guns`n`Roses, Slash does a great bit towards the end. then Gary Moore, Most his stuff kicks a$$

I love a game of darts or taking the guns to the shooting range with the wife, I dunno if you class chess as a sport but I enjoy that alot too. Camping`s probably my fave though (What`s "airsoft"? )

Sayonara, yup, it was half the size of a breifcase and a bit taller I bought it second hand from a mate that upgraded to 20 meg !!! AND bought himself (or rather his mother did) a US Robotics Courier 14.4 modem! didn`t even think it was possible in those days and it wasn`t much smaller than the HDD he sold me ) he also lumbered her with a £2000+ fone bill ( we got plenty good pirate s/ware from him though

general IQ`s variant anyway, someone that may exceed at logic maybe dreadfull at basic spatial awareness or analogy. and so it can only ever be a generalisation. and never a true score anyway, even the ones conducted and overseen by so called experts.

thinking about particles and observation effecting them... it seems clear that we couldn`t observe a photon, because it would need to hit your eye or instrument, that would effect it for sure! but I wonder what happens to a photon after that? does it "die" or vanish? I know some of them generate energy again like in a photovoltaic cell, but what happens to it`s journey after? just a though

LOL, I`ll take your word for it, I`m not really that into star trek tbh. and certainly couldn`t envisage how such a device could be made to work. sounds good in a film I supose
-
Thats the fella I remmeber reading something about that as a reason why a matter transporter (think star trek) could never be made to work.

Does the right girl only come around once in your lifetime?

Chin up and take heart, There`s no such thing as a failed experiment, only more data! and that applies to life experiences too, so from your mistakes it puts you in a better position to A) help others and B) help yourself by learning from them I was 30 when I met the right one. -
if ever your in a rellationship where that happens get suspiscious! because either one of you is unimportant or one of you has a hidden agenda!

I don`t think I can imagine it properly, my mind seems to want to envisage an UP and DOWN. It took me ages to try and imagine nothingness as in the before the universe existed, I found that saying NO to everything I found myself thinking off got me pretty close to some truth and it gets a little easier with practice, it`s a method that worked for me, probably sounds crazy to anyone else though

try this one too, and it`s free http://www.fourmilab.ch/earthview/

well I figure if she IS the right one for you, then her current relationship won`t last and there will be nothing anyone can do about it. -
didn`t someone once say also that simply observing some of these particles will have an effect on them also? was it Eisneburg? I forget.

Is Time Really The Fourth Dimension???
YT2095 replied to Physics5000's topic in Modern and Theoretical Physics
Hmmm... that`s an interesting slant on things I`ve often wondered about absolute motion, and how it could be found. at what velocity and direction would you have to be traveling in relative to our starting point, to be absolutely stationary in a moving universe? and how would that effect time for you? I wonder what it would look like too, maybe like the Millenium Falcon when it hits hyper drive, and the stars thar were moving towards you as if expanding from a central point would be the place the big bang started, thats my guess anyway. -
re: the topic... Ya got that right! LOL
-
erm... my model`s too simple and ya can`t beleive how anyone could be so stoopid?

Is Time Really The Fourth Dimension???
YT2095 replied to Physics5000's topic in Modern and Theoretical Physics
2D and 1D are not visible to us at all. even if looking down upon the 2D object it must still cast light towards our eye in order to see, it cannot do this due to its nature. it can exist on paper (excuse the pun) however, and be perfectly understandable tho hard to comprehend IF we call Time the 4`th dimension then we can only call it #4 because of the order WE discovered it in. truly is would have to by default co-exist simultaniously with the 1`st dimension, as travel from point A to B would take TIME as I`ve stated before many times (that pun again!) it`s merely an arbitrary unit of measument used to signify change. nothing more, nothing less. are there more dimensions than the 3 we`re aware of? I don`t know I couldn`t even state if 2 or 1D exists in real terms. but I wouldn`t class TIME as the "fourth dimension" either -
yet ANOTHER idea occured to me. many threads are about understanding the 4`th dimension and above (I don`t and can`t guess beyond the 4). how about a trick that often helped me in trying to understand things called: Reverse Engineering I`m sure EVERYONES heard of that by now). here`s a way to MAYBE look at things.... we know of our 3d world, height, width, depth. How about trying to Imagine a a 2D world, and what must a 3D being (like us) seem like to our hypothetical 2D inhabitants? I live on a peice of an infinately thin sheet of paper, I have all the space in the world! (MY world). I can go left i can go right, I can go as fast as I like and in all these directions I want to, even little spirals if I choose sounds crazy I know but look at it from a 2D perspective and never having known any different for your entire life (nor you ancestors). now YOU come along, yes YOU as you are now, a 3D entity and put your hand through this paper... 4 near circles (your fingers) enter this 2D guys veiw!, 4 different objects appear! and it will take time for him to travel between each, but all are there you push your hand in slowly and all 4 become 1 BIG object! you then decide to use your motorola inter-dimensional mobile fone and give your 2D friend a call. you NOW want to try tell him, HOW 4 different objects were actualy ONE and HOW they could all be in different places at the same time, and to top it all off they Appeared out of nowhere! maybe that may help someone try picture dimensions that are above us and our current understanding if nothing else it`s food for thought

"that`s a nice dress yer wearing, considering the shape it`s on" "do you lie on you belly at night? do ya mind if i do then" "Hey, your a good dancer! and you don`t sweat much for a fat chick" no wonder I ended up married -
do a search on Google for "one time books" that maybe quite revealing also

a bit like isotopes of an element you mean? same element, different Neutron count?

there is another school of thought that states that just letting them burn is also the best way, as it promotes new growth and prevents the HUGE fires from woods that have been long overdue for a meltdown. I think partly if not MOSTLY mankind is entirely to blame here, WE CHOOSE to put our houses in these areas, incl beach front houses in huricane areas! what price a good veiw? eventualy someone`s got to "pay the piper"!!!
