Why universe appears to have only 3 spatial + 1 time dimension

Following this definition time is not a dimension. -
Check out this Popsicle Stick Bridge - Holds 400 Pounds
michel123456 replied to PhysicsGeek's topic in Physics
You must take into consideration that the weight is equally spread along the bridge. Imagine that if they putted weights larger than the gap between the 2 tables, the bridge would collapse only after the weight overpass the resistance of the material itself, wich is not far of what happened. The structure would not resist a pointed weight as its centre. -
Dynamo is a magician, there is no physics behind it, it's a trick. _or there are 2 cameras, or the whole stuff is a montage of 2 shoots. You can see that from the first seconds, from 0:09 to 0:10 _the local has his arms upon his belly at 0:28 and at 0:33 has his hands in the pocket. If there are 2 shoots, there is no possible surprise: it is theatre.

So Since we know your location (under your avatar), and since we know the hour of your post (mentioned in the upper left corner), the 11.24pm CST is redundant. you could have posted "60 seconds ago' and that's enough information.
-
Yes and no. I am EET not CET For the rest yes.
-
So that makes in my time...scratch scratch converting CST to UTC / GMT then adding (or substracting ?) my + 2.00 not making any mistake with pm (not "greek pm" that is Pro-Messeemeri - προ μεημερι = before midday=a.m.) What a mess. Time zone converter has 5 CST's. ------------- Stupid, the conversion is done by SFN. Just had to look at the post time.

Yes. http 500 error yesterday evening here (GMT+2). local hour 19.00 IIRC. What a relief! I don't have to throw my old laptop to the garbage.

A tourist go to Sevilla Spain to watch the corrida (bullfighting) The same evening he goes to a restaurant next the arena, he seats under the pergola and looks at the catalog for his preferred paella. At a moment he sees the waiter presenting a superb dish on a giant plate, fuming smelling wonderful, on the next table. He asks the waiter: "what is that?" _it is our specialty señor: bulls testicules. _hum, that looks great, where is it on the catalog? _It is not on the catalog, señor. It is made only upon special request. Oh, so I cannot order that today? _No, señor, that is not possible. _But can I order for tomorrow? _Yes señor, of course you can. _O.K. let's do that. .... The next day the tourist comes to the restaurant back and waits for his superb dish. Then comes the waiter with a tiny little plate with a small fuming portion of meat. _what is that? (asks the tourist) _Well señor, i am really sorry but today the bull won.

You can start by putting on the time line the gaps where such a dinosaur civilization(s) could fit. And maybe the same idea could be applied to an ancient mammal? a terrestrial pro-dolphin before becoming aquatic? there is plenty of time for that to have happened. 30 times in a million years. exaggerating a little bit...

New type of reputation system
michel123456 replied to SamBridge's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
I try to keep straight with myself and I still get some neg points from time to time. You cannot please to everyone all the time. It never crossed my mind I could be wrong* Also I have caught myself trying to say very clever comments just to make me look smart. So that is not a mathematical "straight" line. *how do you call that, autoderision? -
New type of reputation system
michel123456 replied to SamBridge's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
Because they like being good repped. BTW i like it. I'd like to believe i don't live for it, but I feel good with pos rep, and bad with neg rep. FYI I must have taken about minus 10 rep points overall, and not all in the beginning. -
New type of reputation system

About the relation between time & reputation have a look at this thread. Ha. You have put a cat among the pigeons. I bet that a lot of people are here only because of the reputation system. -
Reputation versus time
michel123456 replied to michel123456's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
Keeping track today: Michel has 3,324 posts divided by rep 274= 12,13 So on the average every 12 posts i get a positive point. Compaired to my previous result, it is getting worse. I'll chech again in the future if it has stabilized. In any way progression is not geometric. -
Simple yet curious Questions about the skin and water
michel123456 replied to Chuquis's topic in Biology
It is because the pressure of fluids inside your body is higher than the pressure of water in a bath. Water runs out of your body through your skin and you get dehydrated. It becomes more apparent where there is a large surface of skin for a small volume of flesh: your fingers and toes. But it goes out from all your body. Drink water after a bath, especially at sea. -

Sam, you don't deserve the neg rep you are actually bearing (minus 12) and I fully understand your point. Maybe you are a victim of this. I follow your posts regularly, you seem O.K. to me. I cannot push the up button because I disagree with you, I am really sorry for that. I really don't understand the reason why members use the rep button when they agree & disagree. It is clearly stupid. That should change. Personally, I push + when there is an outstanding informative post (or funny), and I vote neg when there are insults or improper behavior (like offering a member to leave the Forum). It should be clear to anyone that the pos. vote goes to the person and NOT only TO THE POST because the post gets buried into tons of other posts. As a result each member bears the fact that other people agree or disagree with him, not the fact that he is a good/bad person. -
Guys, do you pay everything on a first date?
michel123456 replied to CaptainPanic's topic in The Lounge
I remember some good restaurant in France where the man receives a catalog (with prices) and the woman a catalog (without prices). The wine catalog is showed only to the man. If you mean by "not equal" the fact that we are different (mathematically thinking), yes we are different. But we are both Human Beings and as such we should be given the same rights. Which is a social rule on which many do not agree if you take a look around the globe. Sure our social rules are based on ancient values: that's the foundations of social rules. You don't wake up each morning with new social rules, they are hard to change. Not even a law can change that easily. I think intelligent women do care. And in you last sentence, (since women obviously appreciate the inequality), the word "inequality" may be badly interpreted IMHO. -
How much did ancient humans know and understand?
michel123456 replied to cladking's topic in Speculations
yes. Ringer comments are hard to find. I think he asked (between other) I will not answer in time & place for Cladking about geysers. But there are indeed some points against the ramps. You can Google or wait for Cladking's answer. A good point against ramps, seldom mentioned, is the Meidum pyramid that apparently collapsed during construction. There is no (external) ramp. From wiki and there are still wooden supports in the unfinished burial chamber see here http://www.youregypt.com/eguide/destinations/greatercairo/surroundings/meidum/image3.htm and here -
It is a bottleneck. 8 or 12? the 1st year they are 4 the 2nd year they are 4 the 3rd year they are 8 the 4th year they are 8 the 5th year they are 12. --------------- I am sure the commander would change the rules after 6 months.

yes maybe i was too harsh. Now i am thinking: is it correct to imagine a particle of exotic matter traveling backward in time, alone, surrounded by regular particles of ordinary matter? Like an exotic actor walking backward and speaking "verlan" in a regular movie? Or is it more correct to imagine a full movie played backward, where all actors undo the same things?

How much did ancient humans know and understand?
michel123456 replied to cladking's topic in Speculations
@ Cladking I'd suggest not to use the word "cavemen" when speaking about ancient Egypt. It is very ennoying. I disagree. You could start a thread on this. --------------- I'll have to dig for an old thread about ancient constructions. You must know that the pyramids differ from each other, they do not have all the same structure. here. -
"antimatter" AFAIK is about the mirroring (the reversal) of EM interaction ONLY. For antimatter, the 3 other interactions remain unchanged. But is it possible to reverse only one of the 4 interactions leaving the other 3 unchanged?
-
It looks like you repeated something some professor told you without taking the time pondering about it. It is not an analogy, it is plain wrong.

ατομο means "indivisible" from ablative greek alpha α and τομο (τομη) meaning "section' or "cut'. It is something you cannot divide (an atom) it is also a person (an individual). more on Wiki here. The egyptian god Atum has nothing to do AFAIK. Also I don't recall Aristotle or Socrates having traveled to egypt although there were contacts between the 2 civilizations for eons. Plato is thought to have been there.
