Respondents needed for survey on work stress (admin approved)
michel123456 replied to EmilyC's topic in The Lounge
I find it tragic to remember as happy moments the stress I had when I had work to do. No i have a job but no work & no income and much much much more stress. Stress at work has been studied over & over. You should study stress caused by the absence of work: that's the future! -
Does Isoredshift has this particular scaled feature? -see this thread in this Forum. From this http://tap.iop.org/astronomy/astrophysics/702/file_47550.doc page 2. --------------------------------------------------------------

Aaaargh, now I am crying. I cannot see my own posted ,jpg images in my own threads. But I still can see .gif I created. That's awesome. Another IE8 issue. Under Firefox I can see everything. There must be some technical explanation other than IE is crap. If it cannot be fixed, there should be an announcment that SFN does not work correctly under IE8.

Browser issue. With firefox no problem. Other solutions failed.

(bolded mine) In this specific situation, it was not clear. Show me your Mods conversation and I'll stop immediately. If you don't,... I'll also stop. In short: I hate when posts are deleted. Phi is asking "What post are you referring to?", and no-one can answer the question because the post has been deleted. Was it option A, B, C, we don't know because the post has been deleted. It is insane. What is the gain in deleting a post? To close our eyes? to close your eyes? Why don't you put it in the trash can for example where one can find much worse examples of bad behaviour? ---------------- Edited for smiley.

upgraded forum news
michel123456 replied to michel123456's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
This is new too. And From what I gather, the new system removed the profile photo option and just replaced it with the avatar. -
I don't understand that. Other issue. Went to "Reply to this topic", then bottom right to "More Reply Options' then clicking the Image button: the Forum gets all grey and impossible to do anything.
-
As a simple member of this forum, what I would accept is: "We deleted your post"' I propose the following: create a new account called "moderators staff" and use this one when you want to delete someone's post. Then it will be clear that it not the act of any Imatfaul or other, but the result of some concertation between the staff members, a collegial work. And why is Imat hiding behind the protection of other mods. Is he too young and feable to defend himself?

That is not what I call an improvement. --------------------- I am working from different PC's at work, at home,... From this one, when editing a reply, the system opens the edit in full mode for half a second then changes in simple mode without any facilities. The buttons for quoting, inserting image link, etc. are grey. I'll have to try from another PC to see if that happens everywhere. Some other time.- Oops, it works correctly now. I don't know what happens.

I am afraid this is what happens when the policemen and the judges are the same individuals. ----------------- (edit) In order to put things in context: -this is a split exactly from before Moey mod note. [url=http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/70595-what-generates-gravity/?p=717362 -"this is unacceptable" is a copy-paste of previous Imatfaal's mod note(post#66).
-
My profile photo and my avatar are the same? In the old version they were different.
-
"I have deleted you last post" ??????? This is unacceptable! -------------- Note: change your signature! the forum has been upgraded, no + sign anymore but arrows.
-
Oh sorry, I thought your idea was to add a new dimension. And i must have been influenced by my own pet theory. So If I understand clearly, you are suggesting replacing the temporal dimension by a spatial dimension. Getting a 4D continuum. Is that it?

We have all been aware that the Forum has been upgraded. The container has changed, what about the content? By "content" I mean not the content of the dicussion boards, but the content of forum itself, its organization etc. Till now I have gathered this important feature from Hypervalent_iodine: Anything else new?

IMHO the importance of the reputation system is overestimated. Both by young members who get angry with the first neg points and on the other side by the dinosaurs who believe having accumulated thousand points give them some social status. (particularly I hate this invitation to push the + button some members put in their signature*) After some analysis, I think that the rep point system gives a clue on how intellectually old is a member, how long did he (she) integrated the Forum, and how well he (she) follows the rules. ------------------- (edit) * I suddenly realize that the + sign has been replaced by an arrow. You have to edit your signatures now.

Oh, Do you want the light ray to pass through each switch only once?

I have no example in mind at this moment but IMHO energy/momentum should be considered when organizing road traffic. For example by always putting the toll stations with a slight inclination downward (if not feasable at least at level). I don't know what happen in your countries but I find it so dumb to push the breakes in an upward situation just because the toll point is there. Also, stop signs could be placed not following the street with more or less traffic, but following inclination. After all, if you don't stop a man (or a dunkey) walking upwards heavy charged, why would you stop a car?

New proposal.
-
(bolded mine) I know that's the common POV. But if the scaling operates on a very fundamental level, EM forces would be scaled as well. The only objection is that if scaling is sooo fundamental, how can we be aware of it ?
-
I cheated But there is the same problem with my proposal.
-
My best shot till now with a problem at mirror 5.
-
@darkstar8: I lost you somewhere between '"i would like" and "direction'. I understand nothing.

the 3 mirrors do not work for point-like objects. Nor do the 4 mirrors solution in the spoiler above.
