If it was related to the trajectory of the sun in the sky, it should be oriented on a north-south axis.

Duplicated thread, some moderator will merge the two I suppose. Oops already done. What I see is that people like to enhance their past culture in order to show that they were the first to do this and that. This is not a hidden agenda, it is an open agenda. Similar to this one about Carahunge (Zorats Karer) in Armenia. which ends with: The english people would like to make such a statement too, I presume. ---------------------------- On the theory: Why build a complete circle?

@Pantheory You are terribly wrong. It is not Ocamm's razor but Occam's razor. The rest of your post makes some sense.

Because "nothing" is exclusive. Explaining: If you define the universe (any kind of universe) as the sum of all mutualy possible things (events), you will immediately see that "nothing" forbids anything else. When only a single one event happens, "nothing" vanishes and "something" takes its place. That makes "nothing" extremely sensible, instable. Like a pencil in equilibrium upon its point. I whish it could be possible to prove that "nothing" is impossible. ----------- Edit: the above is my interpretation.

The definition of matter I was taught is circular
michel123456 replied to boxerfangg's topic in Physics
Something like that. Mainly because Space alone has no meaning under Relativity. I always have the feeling that Time is very easily forgotten. We know as a definition that matter occupies a certain amount of space. We know that to travel any amount of space, matter needs time. So we can conclude that matter needs time in order to occupy space. -

Time is missing from your definitions. -
from "the visual dictionary" It is a common mistake to believe that an egg is something simple.

Problem with my Beard Trimmer's motor... help required (urgent)
michel123456 replied to dikshit's topic in Amateur Science
Good for you. -
Well, I am not an experienced user, that is completely out of my field. My experience is only related to the difficulties my daughter encountered about the same problems in her class laboratories. I bought her a Leica DM500 (the same that they use in her university) for exercise. Here below her advice: Allways begin with the sample as down as possible, and with the smallest lens (if your microscope has X5,X20,X40, begin with X5). Put your sample exactly in the centre of the light and rise it till you begin to see about something. Try to adjust with the slow wheel. Recenter exactly the sample , then you can go to the next lens. If you are not centered, you may lose contact. Adjust again, center again, then go to the next lens. Beware that your sample don't touch the lens. That is not so easy it may seem at first sight.

Problem with my Beard Trimmer's motor... help required (urgent)
michel123456 replied to dikshit's topic in Amateur Science
From my experience with that kind of machine, the problem is more likely with dirt upon electrical contact in the switch or other part, not with the motor. -
Most probably your miscroscope has no problem at all. Get help from an experienced microscope user to show you the proper way to get a result.

R changes only for an external observator and there is not. Both vitruvian men will measure the same ratio. Isn't it?

Yes. there is a good & a wrong way to chain the wheel.

More efficient when you put it outside, maintening by squeezing the borders in the doors.

You are right about the library, but you must be carefull that 99% of what you read is fantasy, romance, politics, lies. Traveling is not always costly. Only that the lower the budget, the more courage you need, like these crazy french 2 guys: around the world by foot with a budget of 2 euros a day. A little extreme.

An umbrella? A super remote controlled spray independent of the wipers, with joystick, or radio controlled robotic handle that scratchs the dirt (none to use when driving). ----------------- Or bird diapers. I have noticed that the birds in my country are extremally well educated: they don't shit upon a dirty toilet, they only do their job on my car when it is clean.

Called "bierbuik" in Holland, meaning "beer belly" (beer abdomen). Cut the beer. I should do the same, but I prefer having a belly than becoming a miserable Evian drinker.

Never forget each of us have a finite number of summers at disposal. About eighty for a male with good expectations. If you are 25, that is 55 summers left. That is not enough to do whatever you want: you must make a choice. Now I realize that the most important is to do something memorable. And traveling is always memorable. Unless you make the mistake to go always to the same place. On the other hand, about 80% of what you learn is condamned to be forgetted.

Out of subject: in French adjectives don't get capital letters. "Un pub anglais." --------------------- To me the subject is the waste of 7.8 million-gallon drinkable water. The responsable for such a criminal gesture as draining a reservoir like this should be sent in Sahel for a year or two.
