Quite silly indeed, but what would this mean for all those supporting saddam?
-
question or two Assuming we go to war (big assumption eh), if Iraq uses chemical/biological weapons against our troops, will you say that we were right? I could be wrong, but it seems like a lot of people against war believe that saddam does not have weapons of mass destruction. If we go to war, and he uses them, will this change your mind about the war? What if Al Quaeda is found to be directly connected to iraq somehow, will this change your mind? The reason Bush is pushing for our involvement with Iraq is national security. If either of the two aforementioned scenarios are found to be true, were we right in invading Iraq? High ranking defectors from Iraq have already stated that Saddam will use biological/chemical weapons against our soldiers, so I wouldn't be too suprised if they do have some stashed away..

Dave, you have a degree in a field of math?
-
The New York Times is reporting that data from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe suggests a donut or cylinder shaped universe here (free reg. required)
-
Yea, our university system is much like that. Everyone chooses a "major", which is what you are working to get your BS in. Most universities have hundreds of degrees you can earn. For the first year or two of college MOST universities have "General Education" requirements, usually called "liberal arts". These requirements mandate that you have to take 2 semesters of english, math, science, world perspectives, and social sciences, and one semester of art. These are in place to give students a broader education. The last two years are usually spent doing the coursework for your degree. After you earn your degree you can go on for another two years to earn your masters. If you wish to get a PhD or some other advanced degree you have to apply to graduate schools.

Looks like you are generally referring to highsc K-4 and K-5, the first two years of school, are basically designed to introduce children into a classroom setting. K-4 is not required, but this is when most children begin. Kids are usually around age 4 when they start. After k-5 they enter what we refer to as elementary school. Elementary consists of grades 1-6, each lasting a year. Subjects are usually english, math, some sort of basic science, and history. These classes are at the most basic level. After they finish 6th grade, they go on to what we call middle school, which is grades 7 and 8. These are basically just continuation of classes from elementary school, but some of the brighter students start learning algebra during these years. 9th grade marks the beginning of highschool. During grades 9-12 most students generally take 4 years of english courses, 3 years of mathematics (algebra or higher), 3 years of natural sciences (2 years with lab), 2 years of the same foreign langauge, and four years of electives. Generally, grading is done on a 4.0 scale, with grades A,B,C,D,F. An A is a 4.0, an F is 0.0. It seems like the majority of your grading comes from papers? By this do you mean exams? Or actual papers? Grades here are generally assessed according to the teacher's discretion, usually through exams and papers stretching through the semester. After highschool you can go on to college. I'm not sure how standardized college is across the world, what is your college system like?

But there is documented medical evidence of two blue eyed parents having a brown eyed child. thx captain obvious
-
It was more of a rhetorical question demonstrating that it can't be as simple as the example that I posed above. If it were that simple, then two blue-eyed parents could not have a brown-eyed child.
-
Half-way right. However blue eyed children can come from brown eye parents, if they're both heterozygous. Mother: Bb Father: Bb Both of these parents will have brown eyes, because brown(B) is dominate. However, their children's genotypes may look something like: BB, Bb, bB, bb. The fourth child has blue eyes, he is homozygous recessive. There is a 1/4 chance that heterozygous parents with brown eyes can have blue eyed children. of course, it is much more complex than this. ---- The reason albino's eyes look red is because they have no pigment, and the blood vessels in the back of the eye reflect light and make them look pink/redish. I believe there is an actual allele for blue eyes. The bey2 gene on chromosome 15 has a brown and blue allele. The gey gene on chromosome 19 has a blue and green allele. However, eye color is not as simple as this. How can two blue-eyed parents have a brown-eyed child?

In reality, the pope is really just a self-appointed 'God's one representative'. I don't think he's anymore God's representative on earth than the pencil in front of me. Though, as a Christian, he does represent God in a way, he doesn't speak for God. This of course, assuming you believe the Judeo-Christian way. Anyone who doesn't believe in God can disregard the previous paragraph. I don't really think so, though the muslim population might like to believe that. Do you mean religious war as in war against religion, or, since we're ignoring the pope, it might have religious consequences. I apologize in advance for this attrocious pun, but it will take a divine miracle

ln (x^x) = x ln x for all real numbers. i don't know, because he said to :/

I think its clear to all its not his own work and that he was not tryign to pass it off as his own when it contains "as shown in Figure 3"... now, if he submitted this to articles or something as his own work, then it would be clearly plagarism -

Don't worry deslaar -
Nevermind, our answers are the same. y = x^x

afk, grabbing faf a tissue. -
Why is my answer wrong
-
question: y= x^x "solve using logarithmic differentiation" ln y = ln (x^x) ln y = x ln (x) 1/y dy/dx = (1)(ln(x)) + x(1/x) 1/y dy/dx = lnx + 1 dy/dx = y [ln (x) + 1] is this right?

not too much to rely on here I tried it on my server, and it seems as if my host as removed the required php function (imagettftext). The script should work properly if everything is set up right though. Upload it as a php file, modify the paths, and as long as they are all correct it should work. I get the errors: "Headers already sent" and "Undefined function imagettftext"
-
let me try it out on my server, i'll let you know if i get it to work
-
I'm hitting the sack, I'll be on tomorrow morning/afternoon if you want to AIM me: blikeagain.

try chmod 755, some servers are picky about that
-
thats very wierd. is this your own server, or do you rent space? If its your own server something likely isn't set up right. can you find ANY pages on your site? not just the cgi script..
