  1. Is there any evidence for it? Or is it just proposed because it would tie together other theories...
  2. Just for fun. Proof: Suppose that a=b. Then a = b a^2 = ab a^2 - b^2 = ab - b^2 (a + b)(a - b) = b(a - b) a + b = b a = 0 -- 1$ = 100c = (10c)^2 = (0.1$)^2 = 0.01$ = 1c -- Proof: 1 = sqrt(1) = sqrt(-1 * -1) = sqrt(-1) * sqrt(-1) = 1^ = -1 Also one can disprove the axiom that things equal to the same thing are equal to each other. 1 = sqrt(1) -1 = sqrt(1) therefore 1 = -1
  3. Nice :bravo:
  4. I thought information couldn't be transferred faster than c?
  5. They claim NASA has a patent on the same thing.
  6. The theme "new" is finished. I don't know if it switched all of you guys over to it automatically. If it did, and you prefer purple, you can change it from your user control panel.
  7. Whos MrL??
  8. There was an article in CNN back in June about scientists testing the theory relativity. Any ideas on what these "new theories involving gravity and particle physics" are? I havn't heard anything about any recent theories contradicting relativity. Here is a link to the CNN article. CNN no longer carries it on their page, so here is google's cache This was already confirmed on GPS satellites where the clocks frequencies were downshifted 44.47 parts in 10^12. . Silly scientists.
  9. Could someone explain string theory to me? I've heard of it, but never read up on it. I just got a book called "The Elegant Universe". Havn't started reading yet. I just want a general idea before I start reading.
  10. no nerve gas for faf
  11. Take a look at this site. There was a big controversy on slashdot over whether that was truly an antigravity device. Another site I found is americanantigravity

    Homepage?

Should there be a home page?
  13. I have a subscription to Nature and Scientific American. Nature is more of a journal article, and most of its over my head. Scientific American is my favorite. They have good articles, and very nice illustrations and graphics.

    Euthenasia

This topic is frequenting the news more and more. Just recently I saw an australian company that marketed air-tight bags to place over your head to assist in suicide. Interestingly, alot of medical students change their views on this issue after medical school when they've seen first hand people who are living in hell. What do you guys think?
  15. BBC is reporting that scientists have broken the second law of thermodynamics. I somehow feel that this is a media distortion, as usual, but I could be very wrong. Perhaps someone more well versed in physics can explain better.
  16. :haha: nice use of the icons

    Time.

What is time? Some people think of time as a human concept, but to me it seems as if time, to some extent, is woven into the fabric of space. If it weren't, how would space warp time? Someone on the boards(don't remember who) said that time is the direction in which entropy increases. I can't imagine a world without time. If someone/something were to live outside time, what would it be like? Would there still be cause and effect? When I look at it from that perspective, it seems as is time exists only in our heads.
  18. I didn't think of that aman, interesting proposal.
  19. I understand that a group could have both working reproduction mechanisms, but how did it develop sexual reproduction? It wasn't necessary for survival, and evolution doesn't have a goal in mind. Its not like in a single generation an organism would develop that would function sexually and asexually. There would have to be an in-between non-working stage, and evolution eliminates useless adaptions.
  20. CHEATER!!! you had it ready
  21. thanks
  22. Theres another post on the forum regarding that. Could something leaking out of the probe into space thats slowing it?
  23. Haha chris You'll be a carrot when you reach plant life
  24. Yes but in the process wouldn't there be non-reproductive generations; thereby terminating the trait?
  25. Haha, we had a ramp set up. He for some reason he stuck his head out for me to jump over him or something. I didn't quite make it and landed right before his face, then proceeded to run over his face with both tires. He had tiremarks running the length of his face. Poor kid. I still joke with him about it.
