  1. Had*. I need to readd the function but I can't find it and neither can dave Hopefully it'll turn up somewhere. HTML doesn't need to be on. It's somewhat of a security risk sometimes.
  2. OVER THE TOP. I also refuse to lower myself to using toilet paper from "down under".
  3. The counters work, they're updated every hour I believe (to reduce server load). Jordan, PM me exactly how you replicate your problem so I can see whats up.
  4. Try again, it works
  5. http://www.flashpsychic.com/ i was actually confused for a few seconds.
  6. ....they just lose their refluxes* (funny to chemists) *i wish i had come up with it
  7. Basically it's two clocks floating in space and an observer in the middle. We are to assume the observer is some distance away from each clock so that the light from the clocks reaches him several seconds later. The animation shows that if you average the time you see on each clock, no matter where you are between the clocks, you will get the same answer.
  8. Also, I believe some of einstein's theories dictate that nothing can ever accelerate to the speed of light. I don't know whether this applies to photons though, someone else will have to answer that.
  9. When photons are created they are travelling at 300,000km/sec already. How do we know? Set yourself back a known distance. Measure the time between when the flashlight is switched on and you see the photon. You can then extrapolate whether or not the photon has always been travelling at c (or at a known speed in a given medium).
  10. Yea. I've tried to fix that several times, but I can't seem to find the bug. It's rather annoying :\
  11. I havn't watched the video yet either. I have it on the computer, in case I change my mind and can't find it. I've seen pleny of horrible photos of dead bodies (especially in EMT school), but I don't particularly want to see someone having their life forcefully taken. I've read descriptions of the video, however.
  12. thanks for the list Not sure what you mean about avatars?
  13. Actually I changed it to einstein's demise ;P
  14. I'm gonna change that to "THeory of Everything"
  15. We will see in our lifetime:
  16. I guess it's all how you interpret it As long as you interpret it my way its all good
  17. Ah, thanks. I still don't think the government necessarily used it to advance their idea of a war in Iraq. I can't find a quote thats not particularly true. "The U.S. government is committed to a very thorough and robust investigation to get to the bottom of this," Dan Senor, spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq, told reporters in Baghdad. President Bush said "there is no justification" for the murder of the 26-year-old Pennsylvania man that was shown in video on an al Qaeda-linked Web site. Iraqi Human Rights Minister Bakhtiar Amin said Iraq would do everything within its power to bring Berg's killers to justice. Not exactly the war-machining propaganda I had expected. The only thing in that article which carries opinion seems to be: "The actions of the terrorists who executed this man remind us of the nature of a few people who want to stop the advance of freedom in Iraq," Bush said. "Their intention is to shake our will. Their intention is to shake our confidence. Yet by their actions they remind us of how desperately parts of the world need free societies and peaceful societies." Whether or not those are their intentions I cannot say. I do agree that this does remind us of the nature of the enemy. Powell, the minion of evil, mentions the double standard to which we're held (which I referred to earlier) in that the rest of the world froths at the mouth for the actions of a small number of our marines, whereas they keep telling us "not to judge them by their extremists". Powell was holding them to this by calling for the denouncing of the act. Powell then quickly goes on and talks about our failures and mistakes. Propaganda in action? He also pledged action against American military prison guards and perhaps others responsible for prisoner abuses in Iraq that have drawn worldwide condemnation. "People are disappointed in the United States," Powell said. He added, "Justice will be done." --------------------------------- WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush is focusing on the killers in Iraq who beheaded American civilian Nicholas Berg, insisting they must be hunted down as part of a strategy ultimately designed to bring peace to the U.S.-occupied country. "We must confront the enemy and stay on the offensive until these killers are defeated," Bush said in his weekly radio address, as he sought to shift the focus from the abuse of some Iraqi prisoners by American troops. Is their a problem with insisting that they be hunted down and defeated? I don't really see any evidence of the government using berg's death to justify/promote/propagate a war in iraq.
  18. Yea. all our syllabi have a clause that clearly define it as "any work other than your own".
  19. That runs along the same lines as justifying invading Iraq for 9/11. They may not have been related to the actual event, but they sure as hell were punished for it. You can't reconcile it that way. Nick Berg wasn't involved with prisoner abuse...citing his death as retaliation for prisoner abuse is essentially trying to excuse cold-blooded murder. The only connection between Nick Burg and the abused prisoners is his nationality. It wouldn't be very fair if we started executed muslims in the country after 9/11. He also was not a combatant. He worked for communications and was an American civilian reinstalling communications towers that had been destroyed during the attacks.
  20. It is. I've only seen gas above $2/gallon once in my lifetime, so I suppose everyone thinks something has gone horrible awry when the price reaches that high. I don't think it will be long now before we start drilling in alaska. Sorry about the kerry bash, had to throw that one in Edit: And what sayonara just said. (except the part about buying proper cars )
  21. "here" is referring to middle east and people is referring to terrorists and/or extreme islamic fundamentalists. The sort of people who decapitate a random person simply because he is American, not your average joe muslim.
  22. Hah, this is Mr. Berg we're talking about here. He's more responsible than anyone for politicizing his son's death. He outright directly blamed bush (even though his son was voluntarily over there), and then went on to say that the terrorists "didn't know what they were doing" and "killed their best friend". Disguisting. I don't think the video is really a justification for anything. It should just serve as a reminder of what kind of people we are dealing with here, and what sort of double standard they hold us to.
  23. One thing people do is assign blame to the administration for high gas prices. I don't believe they have much say in the issue. OPEC doesn't want to increase production, and demand is up. The prices are bound to go up regardless of the president. It's not just oil prices in America, the price per barrel being pumped out of the middle east is much much higher than usual. It's an international issue really. swanson is right in his observation that the common american feels it's his right to have cheap gasoline. I'm not sure why people are in such outrage. We are not 'entitled' to cheap gas. What we should be outraged at is the taxation kerry promises on gasoline. Think the price per gallon is high now? Elect kerry and see how high they can get.
  24. Exactly. If you're lucky you'll only get an F on your transcript. Then you'd have to retake the class and do well. If you have a 3.8, one F in a nonscience class may be excused as long as you retook. If you're unlucky, you'll get a FF on your transcript. This cannot ever be removed and will never be overlooked. It means "failure due to fraud". That will absolutely devistate your chances of getting in to medical school. What you need to do is accept resonsibility and show that you are sorry. DO NOT LIE. If they give you an F, so be it. You can retake it and hopefully do better and maybe medical schools will let one bad grade slide (especially if you do well when you retake). If they give you a FF, beg.
