I only saw him when I first joined. He had some good stuff to say.

There is a minimum unit of space.

I don't see why accelleration can't be on a macroscopic scale. After all, an ants point of view is just as valid as an elephants. I'm sure you would see the accelleration in super slow motion on a tiny tiny scale. But there is some ammount of compression in a golf ball when it is hit anyway. It is squished into an ovoid shape, so the leading face of the ball actually does accellerate from zero to its final speed in a measurable ammount of time.

Awesome. Search > Zarkov. *Chuckles with delight.*

Yah, I get that. But... Light has frequencies, therefor something is vibrating or moving with varying densities. What is vibrating? There could be waves of photons at different frequencies; that makes sense to me. If photons were stationary, the wave could move via them. It would be the same thing, but without particle translation.

How is that possible, though? Particles use 3d space as a medium for travel. Sound waves are fluctuations in local air density and water waves are moving crests on a flat surface. The only conclusion I can come to is that EMR is the distortion of 3D space itself.

Appearance of going backwards?

I thought our eyes' refresh rate was closer to 120. One can certainly tell the diff between 30 and 60 fps on the computer. ...Then again, incandescent and fluorescent lights work at 50-60hz right? In North America at least. -
Do we really use 10% of our brain ?
alt_f13 replied to Daniel's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
I saw a pet scan of a schitzophrenic compared to a non-schozophrenic. It was really interesting... The regular brain fired in a wave pattern emminating from whichever part of the brain that was triggered. The schizoid brain fired seemingly at random, with sparks all over the brain. I would love to see pet scans of people with different mental conditions and how they differ. -
Marijuana too. Stear clear of large doses unless you want to see and feel sound. I'd recommend stearing clear totally anyways.

Could someone post one? Those guys crack me up.

Uhuh.. but then our bodies would be the medium for the wave.
-
yah. I'm pretty sure we were all joking about teh etehr. [edit] I'm still not clear on how em can be a wave of itself... I mean, if light was a wave OF photons, sure... but a wave OR photons? Every other wave has a medium by which it travels.

You are probably both activating the muscles in your inner ear.
-
Of course; how could I have missed it?

Sound travels through matter. Water waves etc. travel on a plain. But how does EM radiation travel? What are the waves generated on? Are they distortions in spacetime itself?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, yes. That is where I get most of my compositional ideas. That is, before I sit down and actually try to compose. I've oftain wished the same thing. I'm willing to bet Beet Oven and his brother Sir Mozart were rather in touch with this part of their brain. Mozart oftain said he got his music from "God". Probably his subconcious. I wrote a page on this subject in my site about a year ago. It has since gone down but it emphasised the fact that the unbridled creativity of our subconcious is a resource screaming to be tapped. That will hold true for some time I think. Too bad. I think many people have auditory hallucinations before they fall asleep. You do dream right when you go to sleep, so I imagine this is part of the process. Ever hear voices instead of music? I do on occasion, but it is so scary I instantly snap out of it expecting to go into mortal combat with some sort of snarling space creature. Sometimes I do, but being from a relatively low massed planet, they don't generally put up much of a fight. (Do I need mention that last part was a joke? Just thought I'd better.)

I don't think so. But then again... I think I used to. [edit] Or was it the other way around?

Hey guys! I done gone found the fastest way to get me some bannage!

It used to be "alternate fate" (pronounced 'ALL-Turn-Ate' as in the verbe) because I like the idea of parallel universes. I was really lazy the day I joined SFN so I shortened it. 13 for good luck. Been that ever since. Bet you all thought it was some sort of keyboard key word play. Sukkuzz.

what kinda material is easier to generate sound?

I'm pretty sure your antenna does not have a circuit in it. Mine doesn't and no others I know do either. I think those types of antennas merely conduct the EM waves better than air/plastic/etc. so the waves are collected and directed to the reciever inside the phone. What you described is how AM antennas on radios work though.

His celery had a half life of 2 months within the body. Anyone have a chart of the LD50 for many different drugs? Something very interesting to see.

I'd call up ET on my cell and be like "Werd, dis be phAt. Gonna spliff some kozmik ice, yo. Get dat ETT&A down an' we gon' level da hizzie up in dis biatch." Then I'd cure cancer.
