    Degrees

Nah, I'm not that quick a learner. The courses are planned for 5 years, but most people go for about 6, including me. I've had to work part-time to cover all living expenses, so that has slowed me down.
  2. I thought range does matter with a Geiger Counter. Have I misunderstood something?

    Degrees

I'm about to start on my 4th year as a Cell Biology major. I'm not sure about the abbreviations in English as far as the degree goes, could it be MSc? It's FM in Swedish, if that helps (filosofie magister).

Cynical, Chaos Theory, but quite true I fear. Skye, I'd say we already have pushed nature too far. Heh, the question is whether it will/can recover or not. Will just changing our ways to more environment-friendly ones be enough anymore?
  5. Thief? It's a series of 2 games so far (Thief: The Dark Project and Thief 2: The Metal Age), with the 3rd on the way. It's described as a First Person Sneaker. To put it short, you sneak around and steal stuff in a Medieval-like setting. Lots of fun. Dudde, ack, a dead computer... And I agree, the first is my favorite of the two.
  6. Noooo, I'm nice! Honest!
  7. Thanks for the quick replies and the links. This made things clearer. I'll check later if I can get the full articles at uni. Perhaps this is a stupid question, but can smaller damage to the brain after mild strokes be repaired then? I'd assume that in that case it'd be by "rerouting the wires"? (I don't know the correct terminology here, but I hope you know what I mean.)
  8. Thanks for the welcomes. Dudde - *theatrical gasp* You haven't finished them?? Those must be some very good reasons. But cool to find someone who knows which games these are, I usually have little luck with that outside any Thief-related forums.
  9. Hehee, I've seen this once before, love it! Though the link was sent to me by my boyfriend, I hope he's not trying to tell me something...
  10. Thanks for the information, IMI. For some reason I find this a very interesting subject. One more question... (I seem to have many. ) I've also heard that pheromones might have some impact on genetic variety. The less closely related, the more attractive the pheromones are. I have no idea if this is true or not, nor if this would be true for humans, does anyone know?
  11. I was taught that once past a certain point in your development, the number of your nerve cells is fixed and that they don't regenerate. If you lose any, they stay lost. But recently I heard that this is not the case and that nerve cells do regenerate, at least partially. Needless to say, I'm a bit confused now. Perhaps it's just a certain type, or depends on the type of damage to them? Could someone please shed some light on this?
  12. Not to mention it sounds really boring. Joking aside, I remember reading somewhere that the couples that claim to be very happy, are also the ones who have the most turbulent fights. I guess it's the making up afterwards that matters... Anyone else heard of this?
  13. Well considering the frequent showering/bathing we do, and use of perfumes, aftershave and other scents, it's really no wonder that sex pheromones have no effect anymore. That's why I was more curious about the possible effects in a longterm relationship, where both partners get to see (and smell) the worse sides of each other.
  14. Just wanted to clear something up: aren't pheromones basically what makes someone have a specific odour? Human pheromones may not be that important these days as they once were, but there's bound to be something left of those responses. I doubt they make much difference as far as dating is concerned, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do have an impact on longterm relationships.
  15. I'd guess that what's needed in a marriage is for both to understand the differences between men and women; and even more, the differences between individuals. If one understands why the other thinks and acts the way they do, and vice versa, then there's a much bigger chance of things working out. Perhaps this is what you mean by a compromise gene? But would there really be a gene? I'd think it's more to do with learning than genetics. EDIT - Apologies if this is considered "waking up the dead". I didn't notice the dates on the previous posts until now.
  16. Hello everyone! I'll use up my first post on these forums to advertise my website. Thought it would work well as a little introduction, as it is about one of my main hobbies: computer gaming, and more specifically the game series Thief. I don't know if any of you are interested in that, but if there are other Thief players here, let me know. Morrgan's Dark Projects
