It is your attitude towards them...I have lived in many Areas with anti social people..."Brixton London"...And other Estates...in Scotland...Your attitude counts for a lot in how they see you...They have a natural instinct to single out a person who is scared of them or who is not part of their ways...I have found that if you accept their outlook and just acknowlege them as who they are they will leave you alone...Gang culture is a normal occurence in our society...Just dont be-little that and try to see the people they are and they will accept you.

Yes! I expected that reply. There is about 4 or 5 peole on this Forum who..If they are losing an argument use the "Can you give me a Citation or evidence"...that is a way to get the better of your opponent. I know this because I have used it in Politics and Debating. It wont work with me as I can turn it around and say, "Can you give me a Citation or Evidence to say I am wrong" You can probably refer me to a Site that concurs with your Theory and I could refer you to a Site that agrees with me. I have more insite into the problems of Schitzophrenia as I live with a person who has the Illness. When I say that someone told me I mean that Psychiatrists who treated my Wife told me, also I phoned Psyciatrists and got other oppinions. When my Wife was Diagnosed, I tried to read all the Information on the Subject, there was not much information but I did read a book called "Schitzophrenia (A Holistic view)" I cant remember the Author. You are not an Expert on Mental illness so please dont try to put me down as if I know nothing...I live with it.

A survey of people on antiphsycotic drugs have shown that they lie about how well the drug is helping them, Most still have the voices in their head and the treatment program is a waste of time. I have realy tried to enquire about this and have been told that No one can recover from Schitzophrenia, it is a mental illness that you do not recover from, It is progressive and gets worse, medication cannot reverse this. I live with someone with this illness and think that I have tried to discover as much as I can from the people that know about mental illness. People with Schzophrenia are not stupid, they hide their symptoms and are aware of how others see them. Most Physciatrists do not cure or understand, just subdue the patients in their care

I have seen people on medication. I was told that it lowers the Dopermine level in the brain. We need the Dopermine to allow us to think, taking that away from a person is not helping them, just subduing them so they cant think. It is not a cure for Schitzophrenia just a way to brush the problem under the carpet. There is no treatment for Mental Illness, medication just subdues the symptoms, and how can you say that "It improves their lives" it only makes them acceptable to society...Not an answer nor a cure.

Now I do have experience of this. My wife of 30 years was diagnosed as having "Paranoid Schitzophrenia", she had a (as they call it) a Phsycotic eppisode, and Physciatrists said she had Schitzophrenia all her life. I had never seen any symptoms of this before hand and they wanted to section her against her will. Yes! she was acting strangely like collecting shiny metal things and hearing voices telling her what to do and attending church twice a day, and I was the Devil. I refused to have her sectioned and she eventualy left home after trying to electrocute me...lol She never had medication and always denied there was anything wrong with her. She is now home after 5 years away living rough. She seems to now be in controll of her thoughts although she dose argue with herself. I do not believe in forcing her to have medication as it will not help her problem and will only turn her into a Vegetable, she has a right to the life she has, even if she is not normal (as we understand it)

The exchange of Energies from one form to another causes heat to dissapate in the exchange so Perpetul motion would not be possible. I asked the same question in my Electronics class when I thought that if a Capicitor could be linked with a Coil then they would be self charging but you get a loss of energy in heat so the charge would dissapate...Perhaps with Supper cooled circuits you could, but then it takes energy to Supper cool the circuit

Has no one heard of the "Chaos Theory" the more Chaos (Random) the more there is an order. A computer can generate Random numbers, but if you let it go long enough there is an order to the numbers. Same with energy...the smaller you look the more Chaos but enough energy or mater then there is order or so it seems...we se the order in the Chaos, we can then try to measure the order and give it laws...but is that the real way to understand the Physical universe we live in? I have read that Scientists are trying to associate Quantum Physics with the gravity in Black holes.." Quantum Gravity"...Wrong...Quantum Physics is measurements of Atoms and particles which are Chaotic, but Gravity is the oppisite, as you dont get Gravity unless you have a lot of Atoms, a black hole is less chaos, more order

Lets face it people we are limited in what we understand about the universe. As single cell creatures we had to survive knowing what was good or bad for us. Our evolution was just knowing enough to survive so how do we know that what we know or observe is the true picture... we measure things according to our limited knowledge of what we are limited to understand. There could be particles faster than light, and the universe could be something we dont understand...we all want to get a picture in our heads of what and why...but with our limited evolutionary knowledge can we ever truly know? But please strive to have theories and enlighten us, not just Math, as we all want to know.

OK! Let me try again to give you my Logic...If you think I am wrong go easy on me...Ha Ha. Theory is just that, "Why", "What if" or "Perhaps"...Math or Experiments in thermselves are not progressive but the Speculation's and Insite of the Human being is, We use the Math or Experiments to prove or disprove our Theories, and if it works then we continue to the next theory. Perhaps you have a Theory, then you use Math or Experiments to prove or disprove your own Theory, if it works then you have discovered something new, but others might disprove your Math or Experiments by using other equations or Formula. There are people out there trying to disprove E=mc2, Perhaps they will then we will have a new Theory. We do need people who can think outside the box, Creative people and Visionaries that can come up with new ideas that is the only way we can broaden our understanding of the Universe and Existence. I am open minded and tried to put that over in my Initial Thread. I see in another Thread E=mc2 , it was asked if Einstine's Theory was set in stone, the answer is NO! In Special Relativity, Time is relative to Energy or Speed, then if you measure the speed of Light surely you are using time to measure it, then dose not a Photon have its own relative time compared to other Energies, I know that it is complicated and I would not dare try the Math (you are all better than me) but I am trying to use Logic. But surely Math only gives you a baseline to compare things to; we can only compare things like how Light or Dark, How Hot or Hold, we use comparisons to determine the Variation of things, you cannot measure the distance of a star in feet and inches or the size of an Atom in light years, Math gives us a baseline to what and how we measure things, so Math is only relative to what we are measuring, Yes it is a tool and should only be used as a tool to further our understanding of things but Insite and questioning I believe to be the answer to how far we can understand things. Easy...0=No Volts 1=5 volts, it is just a switch to calculate what signal is sent where. A computer is just an enhanced Calculator, It can only calculate the numbers put in. The processor decides where the signal goes by reading the inital input OFF and ON switches, the Grapich are also read by Pixel on and Pixel off. Babbage was the Discover of Binary as he realised that a sequence of lights being OFF or ON could be used to do calculations, and that is basically what a Computer dose.

A chess game is all about looking ahead and predicting what your opponent will do. A Computer can be programmed to look more ahead, this is better than a Human and Chess programmes are based on this, I know because I wrote a chess program, so many "If....then". The only thing a Computer has against it is the unpredictable moves of Humans. Chess is a mental and logical battle between people, a Computer cannot do that.

I believe that the next stage in Evolution is Computers. We have came to the end of our abillity to adapt to our surroundings and evolve, we now depend on technology to fulfill our hopes and ambitions so we have no need to evolve. We are either a dying species or Technology will take over the running of our lives, sad isn't it? Where are the Thinkers the Visionarys the Explorers? Life is now too easy and we dont respect those people, perhaps things will change and Humans will once again evolve, but I doubt it!

For many years now I have been programing in "Turbo Pascal" I am used to it but I hate the limitations of the 16 colour graphics and being unable to use other applications. Is there another language that I could use, with the same structure and syntax of "Turbo" that would allow me to do more? I have tried 'C+' but the same limitations apply. I need a program that would also tutor me, or have examples.

Can a BH still be classed as matter? as far as I have learned, all electrons, then all protons are stripped from the atom, that would just leave the Neutron, so can that still be classed as Matter?

Yes! dont get me wrong, I like Maths, I am not up to your standard of equations but Physics is about the Physical universe around us and not all explanations are mathematical. Over the centuries Phyicists and Scientists have came up with mathmatical explanations of how things work, and others have disproved their Math so Physics has been an arguments of how the Math works in physics, nothing is set in stone, even in this Thread there is disagreements about the speed of light and how you measure it, I do not knock the people who dedicate their lives to understanding the meaning of existence but some are blinkered in how they percieve what they are actualy trying to understand, I try to be open minded and although I am not a Mathmatition I try to use Logic and Math to think about things.

Yes! Math is the only way we have to describe the universe around us and it is valid in how we understand things but before we can understand the answer we have to know the question. We, as humans have evolved to only know what we need to survive, there must be other energies out there that we cannot comprehend. Our Math cannot take all those things into consideration, we only know what our limited knowledge tells us, not everything can be measured...

This was my original post..perhaps I posted in the wrong Forum but I never stated that I had all the answers, The introduction to the Forum was for all levels of Knowledge of Physics, not for Mathmaticians only. Math is not the 'Holy Grail' and dose not hold all the answers, although I respect your experties in Math and cannot begin to be as good, I do have a good knowledge of Physics and life knowledge I just stated what I think and did not wish to encroach on your held beliefs. Math is a means to an end and Equations can be used to prove or disprove any theory, but although I believe that Math is useful, it is not always the answer to the question, that is why I named my thread as a 'Holistic' view, meaning an all round view of how things work. I do not mind your ridicule or your condecending attitude if that is what makes you feel superior and I do not visit the Forum every day but I will continue to post if I think that my thoughts are valid. So try not to confuse me in Math as it wont work..

I might not have the Math to disprove E=mc^2 but I certainly have got a good discussion going...lol My point is:- to measure anything you must know what you are measuring and have the instruments to measure it..(How long is a pice of string?) Depends on if you are measuring in inches or atoms, the speed of light is only a concept as I believe light to be just an occurence of excited electrons, light can be a waveform and a particle and can be many places at the same time, so what are you measuring? Time is also related to light, but time is relative to energy so 'c' must be related to time. also the instruments you are using to measure the speed of light are electronic, electricity is slower than light so how do you know that your measurements give you a true reading?

Surely the word "God" is used to try to explain a why we exist...he is supposed to have created us, We need to explain why we are here so a "God" is a good explanation for our existance. But if we realise that there are other explanations for our existance then "God" will be what he should be. The cell did not divide because it wanted to, life did not evolve because of some random genetic choice...I believe there was a blueprint to do this, like parts of a computer program coming together for a purpose that was intended. But what is the end product? I dont believe in the concept of a "God" but there is purpose, reason, that something has a goal for life, otherwise why are we here and where are we going?

The existence of the derivation of E=mc^2, and the postulate of constant c (and the conditions where this applies) are not subject to your personal view. And it doesn't matter how much you hide the blather in claims of skepticism and dogma. If you aren't going to use the rules of science to discuss science, it's just blather. Science is about empirical evidence. The short version is: put up or shut up. Why so angry??? This is a Forum after all and I am expressing a Point of view...Surely we dont all have to believe the Science to discuss it! So only the people who believe in the rules of Science can talk about it?
