funny you guys mention the water squirting through. at the ER they had to irrigate the wound and when they went to do the bottom i felt some water on the top of my foot. the nurse said it probably just went in between your toes. well the next squirt she looked and sure enough it was going right through the hole. and then she laughed at me....well i was also. she apologized for laughing (it didnt bother me one bit, i thought it was funny also) she said she had never seen that happen before and asked if it was ok if she brought a couple people in to see it. so a couple nurses and 2 docs watched as she squirted water out of my foot. and it wasnt like a little dribble it was a stream.... just like if ou fill a syringe with water and remove the needle. but i didnt have my cell phone so i wasnt able to take a video . yes i broke ALL the gun rules..... the beauty of the gun rules is if you follow even just one no one should get hurt. secondly im not looking for sympathy, i made a stupid mistake that could have gotten someone hurt or killed. i got my first hangun 12 years ago and have been through severl safety classes.... i just got complacent, and thats my fault and no one elses. and the reason i am posting pictures as the wound progresses is that im sure despite my ugly feet might learn something as to how a wound progresses and heals. i have seen a doc and i go to see an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow to see what needs to be done to repair the broken bone/ like i said i dont want sympathy, i dont need telling people made a mistake that could have killed someone... i know all that. i just want to show those interested the progression of the wound. since most people dont get the chance to see a day by day of a gun shot wound

well first off i wasnt aiming at my foot.... i was walking and had it aimed at the ground and when the hammer slipped i must have flinched causing it to aim at my foot. either way i was complacent and negligent. i broke a major gun safety rule. but dispite the pain im glad i did because now i KNOW it will not happen again here is a day two picture.... and BTW it hurts a TON more then it did yesterday

I AM NOT ASKING FOR MEDICAL ADVICE...just to clear that up, i just wanted to share my story oh ive went to the ER, I broke one bone but i didnt get the to see the xray i am taking Keflex(Cephalexin) 250mg every 6 hours to hopfully prevent an infection I can walk but only on the heel for a short distance, but i cant move my middle toe at all, when i try it hurts worse then the actual gunshot did. but as hard as i try it just wont move and the Dr did say something is broken im just not sure which one. but i will update when i find out my geuss is it broke the base of the middle toe or the joint/bone behind it. (sorry dont know the names of the bones. but looking at it i can tell the bullet probably deflected off that bone since the angle the the bullet bath isnt srait. they refered me to an orthopedic surgeon that i will see on Monday, to find out the extent of the damage and if they need to fix anything, but im hopping it just cracked that toe so we can let it heal on its own. instead of having a pin put in. but they said they didnt see any lead fragments from the bullet but i will make sure to get a second opinion just to make sure. the funniest part was when they were irigating the wound (since it went through my shoe and probably brought a bunch of junk in the wound) well when she was doing the exit wound the water was squirting right through the entry hole....and it wasnt a dribble it was like a squirt gun....lol but whn i get a copy of the xray i will post it here also

(i broke the rule about aining the gun in a safe directions.) so the bullet went through and through and there wasnt any fragments of bullets thankfully. But the bullet did break a bone, im not sure which one, but im going to an orthopedic surgeon on monday to see what needs to be done. Im happing they wont have to go in to fix the bone. hopfully it will be able to heal on its own.. the bullet went all the way through my foot and my shoe (which has pretty think soles. im supprised that cheap remington bulk pack has that much power comming from a 3.4" barrel yes I am VERY VERY stupid... we can all agree on that, so please no (your a ^#@@ idiot) comments.....i already know i am . well enjoy the pictures and i will try to post a pic every day to shot the healing process. so be safe and dont de-cock a gun by releasing the hammer and slowly bringing it forward, ALWAYS UNLOAD GUNS THE CORRECT WAY i became complacent and i got hurt, but thankfully no one else did

ok so this is what i did filtered the iron chloride & copper solution i then put the iron chloride aside i poured in the 91% iso alcohol and let that filter once all the liquid filtered through i spread the copper sludge on a piece of parchment paper and put a light near it. it dried up in no time and now i have the finest copper powder ive ever seen. its amazing...its like baby bowder thanks everyone for you help

that would probably work if i had an anhydrous CuCl2 and had it molten BUT as i said in my first post i have a solution of copper chloride.... plus the problem has been answered. just adding iron caused a displacement reaction that formed iron chloride and copper metal. now my only problem is how to dry the copper and have it not oxidize

so do i wash it plain water? i just want to keep it from oxidizing so any help with that will be appreciated

well so far it is working really well, i put the cucl2 in a glass with hot water, i then put the glass in my ultrasonic cleaner which is also filled with hot water then i removed the paint from a coat hanger and bent it so i could fit it all in. i also threw in a nail and both the coat hanger and nail instantly had a coating of copper on them. after running the ultrasonic cleaner for about 10min the coat hanger was pretty much gone and the nail was about 50% its original diameter i now have a nice layer of copper powder on the bottom of the glass im not sure if it did make a difference but i do think the ulrasonic cleaner is helping to speed up the reaction. i guess one day i will have to do a side by side comparison well thanks for your help

so just throw in some iron, like nails of a sheet? will steel work or does it have to be pure iron?

ok so i have a solution of CuCl2 or copper (II) chloride (ive seen it called both) well is there a way to precipitate the copper out? or another reaction that will give me Cu metal?

i dont need it to work for long, but going through the effort of making it i would like it to last as long as possible without spending a ton of money on platinum. what about carbon/graphite?

are there other metals that would work besides platinum? basically i just want to make a gas discharge tube using a neon sign transformer. i just need a conductive material that the chlorine wont attack.....or one that will react slowly enough that it will last for a while

yes i am very aware of that, but to the huan eye it usueally apears, to e one color. and halide lams work by lighting up the filamint just like a regular bulb, but when the tungsten particles get ejected off they form halides with the metal and will redeposit back on to the HOT filament leaving the tungsten and releasing the halide. and then the "halide cycle" begins again the above is not a gas discharge lamp like a neon lamp but is a type of modified incandescent EDIT TO ADD SORRY I THOUGHT YOU WORE TALKING ABOUT HALOGEN LIGHTS ill look more into the metal halide laps Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedok after doing some research i found that the metal halide lamps are not what im talking about. the MHL (metal halide lamp) use argon and mercury and then some form of a metal halide. which is usually a iodide and bromide metal so back to my original question if you used like 99.5%Chlorine and 00.5% argon (the argon is used to lower the power ended to ark. so would a simple 99.6% CL and 00.5% Ar light work, if it was to be set up just like a neon lamp that uses 99.5% neon and 0.5% argon, would it work? and what color would OUR EYES see the color as. so in this light there would be no metallic halides or metallic bromides. just plain chlorine gas and probably a small amount of argon to help start the arc.

ok so pretty much all the gases on the periodic table have found use in lights and camera flashes by ionizing the gases which gives off a certain spectrum of colors. (and by the addition of phosphors to provide different colors) so ive seen He Ne Ar Kr Xe even Oxygen and Nitrogen but i have never seen an example of Chlorine gas Ionized. i figure thats probably because the chlorine gas "might" react with the electrodes. ("might" im not sure if it would but being a halogen i assume it would react with most, but i assume not all) but if you sealed chlorine in a vial with platinum electrodes it seems it could work....or carbon electrodes (which ever would prevent the chlorine from damaging it now i know many of you will say "why?" well to that i dont have an answer. its just a question on first off IF it could be done and my second question is what color would the ionized gas be? so PLEASE PLEASE dont ask "why?" and also please save me the fact that the cost would be too high to do in order to be feasible.....because i know it would cost more then other gases without providing and benefit. this question is just IF it can be done and IF it was done what color would be produced. just think of it as a sort or if "thought experiment" also if any one knows if this has ever been dont i would love to know i understand why this cant be done with Radon due to its very short half life....but other then the chlorine reacting with the electrodes i cant see any reason this CANT be done. but if there is any other reason why it cant be done i would love to knoe

i completely agree on all points! i was very shy all through school and didnt have any "game" but when i graduated highschool i decided that was something i wanted to change, so i signed up for school in a town that i didnt know a single person. well this forced me to be in an uncomfortable situation that i was pretty much forced to not be shy. it worked, i now have no problem with girls. I am really glad i did what i did. thinking its genetic and something you cant change is just making it harder for yourselfe to change. you just need to get out and put yourself in situations rhat are uncomfortable. also know that it is something you CAN change

i get my hydrochloric and sulfuric acid (95% i think) at ace hardware it may not be the best but its good enough for the price. united nuclear also sells it online and they WILL ship to individuals(in the USA)

i think we need to investigate the oceans a lot more before going out and spending billions on space, i think we have lots to learn about the oceans that will aid in our search for life elsewhere.

or just use some food coloring for the cool water you will be able to see how well it does or doesn't mix with the boiling water. my guess is that it will mix very fast

just a guess but i think the turbulent air might take up more space which would reduce the pressure on that side making the ball move to the lower pressure area in a tube the volume is fixed so as the turbulent air trys to expand and cant it increases the pressure on the walls (as you said) but without the walls its free to expand which causes the lower pressure
