I have to say that lately on reflection I've really enjoyed some of RyanJ's creative thread ideas. A what if thread, a best quotes thread, a four 4's ongoing challenge, check it out http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/search.php?searchid=108945 Its nice to see amazingly long threads that are actually enjoyable to read though, and aren't just long arguements. So this is the RyanJ tribute thread. So this thread has a point, what are the common characteristics of interesting threads, and how can we abtract those concepts and apply them to create new interesting threads? (Or just pitch some interesting thread ideas you've been aching to throw.)

Yeah, I have to be honest, I never really did understand the outlawing of such things...

I hate to drag woefully off-topic, but I think I'd have to disagree with counselours being administrators. They are usually below teachers on the totem pole, and would have no power to hire or fire anybody.

School administrators are usually anyone in a position to run a school or large part of a school. For instance, depending on the school, a department head may be considered a school administrator. The principal of a school is almost always an administrator. And anyone in power above the principal is certainly an administrator. This goes all the way up the ladder to the Superintendent of schools. (Although there is also a Board of Education elected by the disctrict the school is serving... if its public anyway. As for private schools, I believe they have a Board of Trustees, whoare usually people who donate lots of money to the school. At least thats how it is at my private university, but I went to public high school, so I don't know if private high schools are different.)

This reminds me of something that happened last year when i was in highschool, our school's administration found a large archive of photos of a large amount of students where many people were holding alcoholic beverages. They then went on to call all parents of any students they had found in the pictures. Many students were at first perturbed by it, but everyone soon realized that basically the administration had an obligation to do something. Because God forbid something should happen to someone at one of those parties, and then they find out that the administration was aware of such activities and didn't at least let the parents be aware too, the school would be in a huge dunk of doo doo.

Both forums have perfectly good math sections, I'm just saying that I've posted some unique ones there, and letting you know that they are there.

Um just to let you know that in support of giving InternationalDiscussionForums.net some special content, I have been posting there exclusively some of the interesting math problems what I would be posting here. I mean, IDF is a pretty cool place, and its run by some of your fellow SFNers, so you'll probably feel comfortable there, and I've been posting interesting math problems there. This isn't meant to be an advertisement, just an announcement of where I've put some math problems that people who enjoy this forum would probably enjoy. But I mean, don't go if you don't want to, because this isn't an advertisement.

Hmm, well http://www.coolmath.com is great for highschool type topics, I don't know if it goes up to elementary calculus. I would do that, and get a good basis in logarithms, functions, and trigonomotry before trying to move foward. Good luck!

Yeah since you've proven B you can make [math](1-h)^{6}[/math] into [math](-1)^{6}(h^{2})^{6} = h^{12} = (h^{3})^{4} = (-1)^{4} = 1[/math]

I think you can make an upperbound of [math]9(9!)[/math].
