is it possable to catch the same cold or sickness twice or does your body learn to deal with that paticular type of bacteria?

sorry Sisyphus, i should have chose my words more wisely, he didnt say Darwin was a fake as such, it was just stated that Dawin's theory was a complete manufactured theory to promote eugenics or social biology then he went on to say (like all religious people say) it was designed to destroy the bible. The debate actually arose from the religious nut saying that white people are the most rasist people on the planet, therefore, as Sayonara³ stated, associating Darwin with the nazi party. still a very interesting point, how can a person belive in eugenics but not evolution, as wikipedia says "eugenics is the study and practice of selective breeding applied to humans"

someone once said to me (who is highly religious) that Darwin was a fake who come up with the idea of evolution to promote the theory of eugenics. i looked this up and found out darwin come up with his theory long before eugenics was about, but i also found out that an English scientist called Francis Galton, who was Darwin's cousin, come up with the theory of eugenics. im a very firm beliver in the theory of evolution, but this struck me as being a little odd.... anyone like to share their veiws on this?

i have been told to identify all functinoal groups of two compounds. A: B: CH3-C=CH-CH2-OH + CH3-CH2-C=O | | CH3 OH am i correct in saying compound A contains two functional groups, Alkene (the C=C double bond) and alcohol (the OH on the end) and B is a carboxylic acid? Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedthe formula didnt come out to well.... The OH should be with compound B on the end with the C=O double bond.

hmmm yes maybe i should stay away from trying to make HCl or Na. i used asda table salt mixed in tap water, in a plastic container. im not sure what material the wires were but they were just standard red and black wires i got from a build your own morse code set. would i have got different results if i had deided to use two graphite pencils for the anode and cathode? when i left the current running through the wire there were three coloured clowdy substances seperated at the bottom of my container (one was blue, one was yellow/brown and the other was green) i left the solution for a while to come back and find the wire from the anode (i think) had been eaten away by a chemical reaction... i left the solution over night (without the current) and now all that remains is a clowdy light blue substance sitting at the bottom.... any ideas what this is?

im not sure if this is right but..... i have been given an element which is Neon. i am told that Ne consists of three isotopes: Ne-20 Ne-21 and Ne-22 (which i asume to be the number pf protons) in the proportions of 90.9% 0.3% and 8.8% i need to find the average relative atomic mass of Ne... do i just find the mass of each proportion of isotope and then add them all up and divide by 3 to get an average?

im learning all about chemisrty at the mo, so i decided to put a bit of theory to praticle and i have a few questions.. i know that NaCl dissolves in water to give [Na]+ ions and [Cl]- ions when i put a current through the solution what started off as a green/yellow gas (which is now slowing turning browny/orangish) collects at the anode, am i right in thinking this is chlorine gass being given off? The only change i can see at the cathode is a change in colour around the wire, when i started it was silver now it seems to be a copper like colour, what is this? i would asume that this is the Na ions but i know its not as Na reacts violentlywith water ... how would i go about getting the Na from this soloution and how can i make HCl? thanks
