ok not truely round but you must agree roundish is the norm for most things that hold themselves together otherwise bits would blow off

I do believe light has a shape even though you must agree that most uniform things in the universe are round, that is not to say I believe photons are round because then light would emminate from the globe in all directions, it does not. Otherwise when you shine a torch in one direction the light would also shine back on itself,it does not. Therefore light or many many photons travell one way and only shine back when they hit something. Yes you see light when it hits you in the eyes and as was said by Moo it's the wave lengths that make the colour but even as atomic structure has shape I say I believe a photon has shape too and it's conical in a vary small way.

Does anyone know if there is a handy program that will take care of refreshing the web page automatically?

Yes thats what I think although less so that light has "matter"

Thans for the web site to look at, the maths is way beyond me too and quite what "entangled photons" are only the enlightened ( no pun intended ) can say. I thought the images of light were very near to what I propose as they appear to show what would be the end of the cone shape I was trying to get accross. As I said in my initial question, you can't see photons side on unless they collide with some matter and then I proffer that you see them then because their motion path has been reversed. Any thoughts?? I've gone back to the Acrobat Reader piece and the maths seem all about angles of photons rather than our immediate question about shape, and I wa sthinking again about what it said about "entangled" which I now presume to be caused from photon collisions. I envisage colliding photons as merging together rather than bouncing off each other because the photon does not possess any solid state from which to bounce??/?

Forgive me if I seem a bit dim but I point out that it is merely my hypothosis that static photons begin disk shaped then immediately go conical upon travell and as light is always travelling fast they in a way would never really be discs.
-
It's 5am and I've spent all night woundering about the shape of light. I 've decided that it COULD be a disk that when travelling forward gets an indent to it's centre making it a small cone from where the light emminates. this may explain why you cannot see a beam of light from any angle other than from the front, unless it contacts with a medium say a gass or solid object. Any thoughts??

are black holes only supposition?do you know anything i could read on them?

Memory - how does it work?

Thankyou for the "good idea" comment I feel pulled apart by someone else's. I hope you get loads more replies on the subject at hand it really intreges me. Ps I was born in Wrexham, are you near? -
Okay, here it goes... this is my theory of the universe!
cpwmatthews replied to bascule's topic in Quantum Theory
I too am one with little or no knowlege of science but I think you are wrong to write us off. I agree I did not understand all of Bascule's hypothosis but do we not learn more sometimes by dreaming if you like about subjects? Science did not automaticaly appear and say here are the rules, people had to use guess work and contemplate on things they had only thought of. So give us newbies a break, I'll follow any suggested reading articles and maybe one day catch up -
yes time is a constant so what is the smallest amount of time? It's all about perseption. The dull person will think slower than the inteligent person for the dull person time APPEARS slower. what is the constant? the amount of time it takes for the brain to fire
-
well we sense time when awake by a clock. we sense the world around us based on this clock. what we see and hear takes a certain amount of time to reach our brain and be converted into realisation but when we are asleep I propose that we have no sensorial time delay and therefore think that the smallest amount of time is that measurment it takes to fire a neuron. Sorry If I sound a bit Zany.

I thought we were talking about the smallest amount of time?
-
Suppose you showed the 2D man a glass sphere. He would see his dimention and also see through it to view every other dimention at the same time?
-
If I'm awake then what I see and hear occurs at a set speed and time but If I'm asleep do thoughs of images and sounds happen quicker because they are created internaly without the delay of the outside world?

Why our own voices in our heads?
cpwmatthews replied to BrainMan's topic in Psychiatry and Psychology
As I see it when we think we are not physicaly hearing anything rather acknowledging our own thought processes. If you tape record yourself speaking then often than not you will say "that's not me is it?" when you hear it. When you hear someone elses voice then your brain has mapped out the nuences of the sound of that particular person and will often confirm it's recognition with a mental picture of the person. -

I see Science as an open door to discoveries. As such it is not a sin to search for the truth and therefore scientists can do no wrong by simply exposing the truth, (we are allways taught that the truth is correct) The problems occur when the decision is made to act on a potentialy harmfull discovery but still it is not the DISCOVERIES fault. Ethics is and negative results are only brought about when a person adds there own morality to the subject in question.

I require a bit of assistance...
cpwmatthews replied to Mike Kovich's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
At such a young age You have all the hours to learn about life, All it minutes to reflect on what you have learnt, And all it's seconds to change your mind. I think it is better not to set boundarys so young but to embrace every bit of knowledge that comes your way. -
Things in the Universe are too symetrical as to be random. Everything seems to be centered around Circles? Earth, Cells, symatery of flowers and the like. Any thoughts?
