Not religion, truth! God should not be taught as a 'fact' because it is not one. It is a fraudulent meme taught to children when they should really be taught to be skeptics, to question everything. They deserve nothing less. Who said agnosticism was a safe or correct position? I do think it's correct myself since I do believe man will never know the truth about deities, especially any supernatural ones. It's well and good for those that want to give an equal chance to the existence or non-existence of deities but they should understand that does not make them agnostic. If they do not have an affirmative belief that one or more deities exist then they are atheist, regardless of their position as a gnostic/agnostic.

Kudos iNow. I tried to find something to amplify your message but I'm at a loss for words. They need a new word for the ultimate, epic fail that really describes these record setting fails you encounter from time to time.

...and this assertion is based on what? When exactly was it due?

Over unity requires the system as a whole to be more than 100% efficient. Any inefficiencies, any friction will cause the system to require more energy than it can produce and over unity cannot be achieved. It's really as simple as that.

Newsflash: There's not one word in that whole book that was written by Jesus. The whole book is hearsay so you could not possibly have referred to a verse by Jesus.

You are still missing and/or avoiding the point that this alleged proposal is unneeded and irrational. We have the technology to make calculators give whatever answer we want but we don't because we want them to be mathematically correct and your proposal purposely dismisses an error they are designed to display on purpose. Even in our daily life we do not need to ignore the FACT that division by zero is undefined. Why would anyone want to teach anything but the truth?

Been there. Some dude named bubba with horns throwed me out and told me not to come back since I don't believe in hell.

Jimmy Carter calls For Moderates in the Democratic Party
doG replied to differentDemocrat's topic in Politics
No, I didn't say that. I pointed out that it was odd they posted it as a video without any video. Fox has a radio show? -
Kudos. I feel honored

Yes. Then again, I was taught to question everything, to be a skeptic. I was taught that trust needed to be earned. That you shouldn't just trust what you are told without question. That trusting blindly was foolish. Would you have me believe otherwise?

Jimmy Carter calls For Moderates in the Democratic Party
doG replied to differentDemocrat's topic in Politics
Isn't that pretty much true for the mainstream media in general? Funny thing about that video clip is that it doesn't contain any video, just a picture of Laura Ingraham all the way through. There's no way to know if the voices are really the voices of the people portrayed. Isn't this a live news show that could have shown Laura asking the questions and Jimmy answering them.....on camera? -

This post has nothing to do with Jimmy Carter. Your attempt to get signatures is dishonest. -
For the same reason children have strong beliefs in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. They are taught to think that way while they are still too young to know better. Eventually parents yield to the truth regarding Santa and the Tooth Fairy but continue to steadfastly advocate the existence of god(s).

I asked you to support your assertion, not to drown us with another delusion.

You still haven't answered these questions Ankur! Division by zero is undefined by definition for good reason. Why should we throw good reason out with the bath water for an unneeded, irrational solution?
-
False. Please support that assertion.

what are the fundamentals building blocks of computing?
doG replied to ZeroZero's topic in Computer Science
Technically an If-Then statement is a high level programming language construct not implemented at the circuit level. It is basically just a conditional statement that has a conditioned output based on the input(s). To implement such a construct at the circuit level you could accomplish it with 1 or more logic gates depending on the exact conditions you are testing for and the output desired for each condition. It would effectively be a hardwired If-Then statement. It could be as simple as a single NOT gate or it could be an elaborate assembly of flip-flops. -

doG replied to ZeroZero's topic in Computer Science
Actually the truth table for the various gates can be written as an If-Then statement, i.e. 2 Input AND gate: If Input A=1 (true) AND Input B=1 (True) THEN Output=1 (True). 2 Input OR gate: If Input A=1 (True) OR Input B=1 (True) Then Output=1 (True) 2 Input XOR Gate: If Input A<>Input B Then Output=1. This is obvious when you consider that any of these can be used as a bitwise comparison operator in a programming environment like BASIC or C where an If-Then statement is used, i.e. If (X AND Y) Then Conditional Operation. -
'Straight' according to what?

That wasn't an attack. It was a statement that acknowledged any possibility that might exist. I have no idea of your ability or lack thereof and simply pointed out that I didn't know of your ability, or lack thereof, it was an ambiguous statement. Your reply was not ambiguous but specifically implied an inability to reason. It was an ad hominem attack without doubt. Why are we quoting verse from an unsubstantiated story book at all. It is not evidence and has no place in the discussion.
-
And that's why anyone that wants to use 'philosophy' as evidence can be readily dismissed in any debate requiring evidence. Ad hominem attacks are specifically against the rules here. Keep them to yourself!

Try Hitman Pro. It will offer a free license for 30 days after it runs a scan and asks if you want it to fix any malware it finds. I use it routinely for many clients.

We should not leap to any conclusions without evidence to support it. We don't know if the Universe had cause or not so that can not be used as evidence to support any other assertion.
