What's your favorite animal and why? Just wondering... As for me, it's the red-eyed tree frog because of it's huge red eyes, and it just looks cool.

Seeing how there have only been two tropical storms so far, and last year there were a few hurricanes by now, I'm guessing it won't be as bad. The water is also cooler, and warm water is the key to hurricane strength. So, I think it will be an above average season (we are at the pinnacle of a cycle, and there's global warming), but not quite as bad as last year.

Webroot's Spysweeper---although it isn't free---makes my computer run very fast and cleans all spysweeper. It's a good tool.

I have very little time so I only scanned the OP. I voted "because no one else does" and "imported articles from wikipedia". My take on WiSci is that it has potential, but needs a major clean-up. Perhaps deleting every article and starting over?

SkepticLance, thanks for your reply, but the article didn't say anything about why they were doing this. I just wanted to know. The reason why I suggested climate change is because it's a fact that other animals, such as birds, are going further and further north. Good stories and examples, though. SkepticLance, just to back up your point with some more examples, I have a story. Last year, i went to an area in northern Michigan and I went searching for salamanders. I found an eastern tiger salamander which wasn't supposed to live that far north. So I asked some herpetologists on another forum, and they said they have also found them more than 100 miles north of where they are supposed to live years back. So it really wasn't a big deal. That wasn't as good as your examples, but I do agree with you. I would also like to mention that a reptile store near my house in Michigan has many geckos that escape. I've seen them outside during the summer, but they come back in during the winter. So I think AzurePhoenix's idea could be correct.

Remnants of a meat-eating kangaroo with fangs were found recently in Australia's Queensland state. The killer kangaroo, Ekaltadeta, had large forearms, so it couldn't hop like a kangaroo of today, but galloped instead. Ekaltadeta, who lived between 10 and 20 million years ago, was described as having "well muscled-in teeth, not for grazing" by vertebrate paleontologist Sue Hand. "These things had slicing crests that could have crunched through bone and sliced off flesh." This is almost nothing like how kangaroos of today are. Bones of an elephant-like animal, the mastodon, have been found in Michigan. The remnants were confirmed to be that of a mastodon by scientists at the Cambrook Institute of Science. Nearly 250 others have been found in Michigan.
