If I can predict the future, I'll be like god, but I can't predict the future accurately. Right now it is a three way battle, Christianity, Islam, and buddhism. There are some variations, but I'll put them into this three groups. ultimately, christainity might be the last one standing, but no mortal beings knows what will happen in the future. Christainity is the most aggressive in recruiting people or they say proselytizing. They have a thinking that they need to spread the word or something. They go from door to door, very friendly people just trying to strike up a conversation, and they invite people to go over to their churches. Behind their friendliness, is a hidden motive to convert others to their religion. They view other religions as not equal to their own, example paganism, thus I don't think they will agree with the concept of co-existence with other religions. I saw those churches around my place, really modern buildings. Sometimes, one whole street or road lined with churches or Christianity related buildings, schools. This has got to be the dominant religion in the years to come, at my area. To have such buildings and infrastructures, they probably have a big economical might. The money that makes it possible. Some school belongs to these religions, like catholic schools. No universities yet, but probably there are some at some western countries. Deep in the jungles of borneo, there are houses with crosses. in south Korea, Japan, slowly in china too people are taking up the religion. because it is like a status symbol too. Something that makes them higher class, due to aligning with the english language, culture from the west, like something exotic to us asians, or they might acquire some form of sophistication, especially for those ladies. These ladies are more available to the Caucasians guys for some reasons. Islam...I'm don't know much about Islam. Its power base is in middle east. There are large populations in africa that are muslims, and asia, like turkey, malaysia and indonesia. I think US and major western cities have increasing muslims populations. I read this in a book about Muhammad Ali. My understanding is some black guys probably want to have a name that is not a white man's name or something. and also British takes in some immigrants from Pakistan and india. When they want to build a mosque at the site of the wound of USA people, the Twin towers , this could mean mosques could be present at other places or some neighbourhoods with migrant populations. I haven't been to US nor europe though, haven't seen with my own eyes. I know a little more about Buddhism, compare to Islam, but also not much. I'm aligned to Buddhism and Taoism. A year or two back, I was really upset and angry inside due to some dark evil thoughts circulating in my heads, I have to rely on some buddhist teachings to get me past those difficult situations. In a way, it has some psychological effect, although Buddha wasn't the one saying it but the monks wrote some books. I'm not a true buddhist though, as it seems one needs to be a follower of a senior monk, and take some rituals. The text and literatures are filled with supernatural events, that is hard to proved by science. One text says the buddha was in one of his previous life a giant monkey, which while trying to save other animals perished in the disaster. Now maybe it is funny or a coincidence, but science seems to indicate that the human ancester is an ape like creature. Being reborn in the next life can't be proven by science. It is like the other religions, which say god exists. I was coerced to attend a Tibetan Buddhism chanting session once. I don't know what they were chanting, but the book have english translation, and it has all the supernatural stuff, spirits of the mountains, evil animals spirits , devils and such. buddhism is widespread in mainland of asia, and some people in US become buddhists too.

http://www.cdc.gov/b...bmbl5/index.htm I found a link. maybe you can skim through those pdf files, see if you pick up anything from it. I'm not a microbiologist, I don't know much either. maybe someone else knows.

Some creatures like daphnias and aphids seems to have more females. and also ants, termites and bees. but generally, it it hard to determine if there are more females or males in the animal kingdom. because of the large numbers of different creatures. Some reptiles sex are dependent on temperature when the eggs are in the nest buried in the ground, so it probably fluctuates with the changes in the environment. and some fish can change sex, like some colourful fish in the coral reefs. When a male is taken out of a group. Another one change to male and take over the group of fishes. and some fish it is the female that is the dominant one.

water is the safest liquid for you to work with. it generates steam, which you need to be careful of if you unexpectedly is able to produce a lot of steam. To get steam from the sun's energy, you can read up 'solar oven' or 'solar cooker' , which have lots of articles in the internet showing how to make one. It seems quite easy to make, therefore your instructor may not be very impressed to give you a high score. If you are able to generate lots of steam, you might be able to use the steam for some other applications, but some places on earth , it is not always easy due to the climate, its autumn now is it ?, or for some other reasons. If I make one myself, I'll like to incorporate a digital thermometer, as I'm curious how high the temperature gets inside, and how fast. If you can capture the data into a computer doing everything from software to hardware, the instructor will probably raise an eyebrow. If you can generate a lot of steam, you can use the steam to steam some bamboo poles or thin wood strips, plywood etc... and when the wood soften, you may be able to bend it for a short time, put into a jig, and after a short while it become rigid again. However, I don't think DIY solar oven is able to produce lots of steam. or you can direct the steam into a press, like what they use when ironing a shirt. Trying to be innovative isn't easy.

This lizard in the picture is bigger than monitor lizard, and probably komodo dragon and I've not seen it at this size.. In my opinion, the picture may be altered. However, once in a blue moon, there could be a surprise. I've seen one at about 30cm.

Don't say I never warn yall, the beam from LED is likely more directional than conventional lights. When you are jumping around when exposed to LED radiation, this is a new case. I've heard of mass epileptic seisures bought on by bright lights, so this could be something similar. ""Pokémon, I Choose You! .... strobing light effects cause some individuals to have epileptic seizures ..." - taken from somewhere..

yes I'm refering to fish oil.

There is the early detection thing. My country's health board have posters and advertise through the media to get people to do regular screening for common diseases, targeting those who reach a certain age like over 40. They go for blood test or checking the women's breast. Usually, it is hypertension, and blood glucose levels and eye test for Glaucoma for the more elderly ones. The doctors will highly recommend anyone who test abnormal to take some medicines like hypertension drugs...It is a preventive for diseases like stroke, and heart diseases. Some people have a distrust for some western medicines, it is compared to slow poison for some disbelievers. There are some companies that are MLM companies, and they have some health products. These products are often marketed as preventive health supplements. I was really sceptical when they say one of their health products can reduce hypertension. It is probably fish oil..However, it seems to have an effect. ( Don't trust me on this, I can't back it up) I would like to prove that supplements are gimmicks, but sometimes it works, like making grey hairs turned black again. I'm a bit undecided. I don't take any supplements regularly. When I feel that my nose is getting inflammation again, I took a red cherry flavour drink from this MLM company to reduce the inflammation, and when I had a fever, this drink is able to suppress the fever. I'm quite impressed with its fever suppressing ability. You can skip panadol for the slight fevers. The cost of a pack of this drink is more than a pack of panadol or Paracetamol. Doctors like to presribe Paracetamol. Health supplements are more expensive or about the same cost as medicines from the clinics. My mum's hypertension can't be lowered on some days though, so I'm undecided how effective. If health supplements can do as well as doctor's medicines, there are doubts. There are some people who believe the mass produced food ,vegetables ,fruits, etc...we eat today, are low in nutrition. and some cooking oils are unhealthy. I'm trying to grow some seedlings with a cheap NPK fertilizer and it seems the plants are lacking something! The leaves at the base turn yellow easily. I need more experiments. Some supplements may be useful for some people, like multi vitamins or vit C, and probably some B. It can probably prevent a flu if you live in densely populated cities. Prevention is by looking from the ground up like the diet and living conditions, pollution. There is something the science can't prove whether some foodstuff are wholesome or not, as it seems not easy to check those ingredients. The western world are rich, and money shouldn't be an issue, probably can reform the health policies. which some doctor say is not functional. They seem to be allocating resource to some very minor illness, though I can't name these. or it is due to tying up with insurance companies, which I don't hold in high regard.

Bread board is used for constructing and testing electronics circuits, it is easy to change components. <br>I think you can refer here, but I did a quick search.. http://courses.engr.illinois.edu/ece443/breadboard.htm http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/breadb.htm<br>

I just realised that some areas in my country are experimenting with LED lights , replacing the current fluorescent tubes. It seems this fad is on the rise. There is growth potential as they stated impressive savings in terms of energy and electrical bills. From what I see of some products, the light is kind of a glaring brightness. I'm thinking of getting one to use in my aquarium. I also found a link which seems to indicate LED can damage eye...http://www.cappels.org/dproj/LED%20Warning/Danger_of_Eye_Danger.html although I don't know to what extent. If I think about it, Lasers are definitely capable to damaging the eyes, the next is soild state lasers which are laser diodes. This is due to the light being focus into a narrow beam. The laser diodes back in the day can't do holographs, as the beam wasn't narrow enough. I thought the LED was old technology, but they came up with the high power white light LED, which seems to be useful. but the circuitry is slightly more complex. I better relearn how to drive some LEDs. The LEDs beam of light wasn't as narrow as the laser diode, but probably due to the high power output, it could be hazardous. To reduce the glaring properties,it may be possible to make a screen to diffuse the light. This probably cut down the efficiency slightly. Just some thoughts...

I think tyres are slow to biodegrade, due to the vulcanization. Some gardeners use sulphur as a soil amendent to lower the pH, it seems to me sulphur is not very toxic, although some compounds like hydrogen sulfide is said to be toxic. The article below says there is some potential carcinogenic compounds in tyre dust. ...http://www.ehhi.org/reports/turf/health_effects.shtml

I've heard of steam distillation, and hexane extraction method. I don't know the details though..

Is Bostik Blu- tack usable ? Recently, someone told me he can use a syringe to inject water through the polymer. but I suppose after withdrawing the needle, I've to press down on the needle hole to seal it.

rough estimate world population...7 000 000 000. and 0.005% of world population is 350000 people. divide by estimated 189 countries gives 1851 people per country. Just a very rough estimate. You looking for some kind of fantasy story ? Now we have lots of multi-storey buildings. If people just disappeared, there will not be rotting corpses or skeletons lying around, which I'm expecting if that armageddon event is real. Depending on the time, some plants will start growing in the cracks of buildings. In the tropics, strangler figs grows on buildings, the seeds are dispersed by birds and when the aerial roots systems reach a water source on the ground, it grow rapidly into trees. No one or very few people live in these tall buildings, as electricity is needed to power the elevators and lights. Climbing to the top of these skyscrapers via staircases, to view the scenery at sunrise might be a sport. Maybe you have some village outcast living there. So these buildings are not maintained. For those western cities, I suppose you have what they call Tumble weeds rolling through the streets. Earthquakes might created a more hazardous environment as huge cracks are seen in buildings after major earthquakes and now no one is pulling these buildings down to rebuild. A dust layer accumulate for areas that are dry. Bats or some nocturnal birds with strange cries started nesting in these caves. These caves are dangerous as the concrete is spalling, occasional glass windows falling from great heights, and the staircases are unstable and may give way. The interior of shopping malls size buildings is like labyrinth, and its all dark inside. People now live on huge estates, and have 10 kids on average, grows their own crops. Some wise guys will advice people not to go to the old cities. but as usual, some young guys wants some adventures, like treasure hunting. The roads will be empty, very very few cars use the huge network of roads. Potholes appeared in roads. No engine hum can be heard. When you are used to hearing the buzz of the road and suddenly it just disappeared, it is strange feeling. Like some kind of loneliness, when you are at the sand dunes or at the beach. Satellites will still be orbiting the earth, although unmanned. It is solar powered? and may work for a while. once it entered the atmosphere, it probably burn itself away, or reduce into debris. I'm not sure about nuclear plants, read before one book about Chernobyl after the disaster. In the book, it says after some years, wildlife has took over the land and other stuff, the radioactive waste are buried, but it takes many many years for the half life of radioactive waste to decay. If talking about 350000 people, surely there are some engineers and scientists among them, and they can maintain a simpler systems. Although some knowledge are lost, as modern man are quite specialized in some skills. The numerous libraries of old books will hold some knowledge, but the books are rapidly disintegrating. Electricity can be generated from salvaged Solar panels from some energy companies. Noisy diesel powered generators at night. The light bulbs may have been salvaged too. There will be no need for Wall street. no NASDEQ exchange. The fuel might be biodiesel. The huge refineries seems complex to operate, but biodiesel can be DIY as I saw that at some websites. Lastly, the people will have no religion, but maybe someone found a book or two. The end. <br>

CO2 - Do plants release BOTH O2 and CO2?
skyhook replied to Recovering Engineer's topic in Ecology and the Environment
The gnu eat the grass and they produce poop. There is methane in cow dung, which can be broken down into CO2. so maybe the other animals of the Savannah is the same. There can be some acacia trees in the savannah. I guess as human population expand, the savannah is going to use for residence, and sometimes it turns into desert-like if overgrazed, or due to drought. c. cow dung is used by some communities as fuel, for cooking. The wood from trees can be used as fire wood. Sometimes, it is possible to grow crops meant for biodiesel, and when you harvest the crops, you can utilise the carbon. It can be detrimental to the savannah system though, as grassland is converted to farmland. The animals lived in reduced natural land. The farmers might want to eliminate certain animals and birds too as they may feed on the crops. -
Human is just a pawn in the game. and the earth is the chess board. The game is Evolution !

This is what I think... When you breed an animal and you are selecting for size. First you have a pair , and the pair produce many offsprings. Of these offsprings, I'm assuming there is natural variations in size , and there are a few that is slightly bigger than the rest and may exceed its parents. So you take the biggest and cross them. again, there is variations in size, and we choose the biggest and most vigorous and so on. There has to be many offsprings to choose from, to make it easier. It may work if there are offsprings that are bigger than the parents. I don't know if we can look at it as a "locus" thing. like maybe a Dalmatian dog pair is going to produce dogs of about the same size, with slight variations in size. It is unlikely to produce one the size of the chihuahua, although there is a small chance. This Dalmatian dog, I've seen a really big one. but for some animals, inbreding can't go on for many generations. They need to be crossed to a related line occasionally. It is said that hybrid vigor may caused some animals' offsprings to be bigger. Maybe we take a look at another possibility. I assume there is a single gene that cause gigantic offspring indirectly. This gene is recessive and very few of the offsprings inherit it. If you by some luck, pick two animals that have this recessive gene, this is definitely going to get more giants in the next generation. So it is luck. If you paired one animal with recessive gene and one normal animal, the giants are probably going to be rare again. but in reality, the giant gene I assumed, could be a combination of factors, or it could be one. by the way, I'm not a dog breeder, I kept betta splendens some yrs back.

Historical events were recorded, and it seems nothing can change the facts. neo-nazism exist, I do not know how prevalent though as I have not visited those areas. Some of these groups are associated in some serious crimes that is due to race discrimination. we have heard about the consequence, although some of us don't live in that period of time. History is written in textbooks. Sometimes some facts are remotely useful to living in the future. History class can be quite boring. and some are privately schooled or in religious schools which might have a different curriculum from government schools. A few textbooks can be written by people with motives, some minor facts which they deliberately left out. Considering some scholars have the tendency to quote what other authors write, I would think some historical facts could mutate. or diluted in its significance. In the internet, anyone can be an author of some articles. Some with skills in the art of writing, easily win some fans. So unorthodox ideas may be propagated that way.

i need tutorials about HTML tags and programming language...
skyhook replied to gOdfreyxD's topic in Computer Help
I can't help you much because I suck in programming. do people still write html these days? There will be some articles in the www that teach html in simple tutorials. It is not difficult , but to write a webpage, it takes too much time. I've used before the webpage editor call Amaya which is free, there could be other better alternatives. I haven't use it for a long time. As for programming languages, there are several. When I was in school in 1991, I learnt C , C++, and simple one is BASIC, though I don't know if anyone is using BASIC now. and that was in 1991. Anyone knows which programming language is the most current , or useful or which is the simplest to learn ? -
Once when I was a kid, I used my swimming board, which is made of styrofoam, to knock out a hornet as it flew pass. As I walk away at another direction, I felt something landed on top of my head and then it gave a painful sting. I watched some documentaries which show lions and hyenas. Lions kill hyenas. Hyenas get away most of time, but they have shown before lions taking down single hyena. Hyenas take over lion's food, as they came in bigger groups. hyenas probably kill lion when they have the chance.

a case in my country, a wealthy businessman buy a kidney from a man from indonesia. They lied to the medical governing body that they are relatives and no money was involved. There is a middleman or agent, who took a percentage of the transaction. when that was found out, the three of them went to jail and were fined. and I've always heard you can get a transplant in china from some death row inmates. maybe it is a rumour.. and there are some risk involved in operations, like infections and such. india black market link http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1709006,00.html

sorry about the wrong assumptions, sometimes I should just keep my mouth shut..haha.. here's my take on diabetes, from the limited info I gathered...One book I read sometime ago is about Inflammation. The author believe various diseases are caused by inflammation. heart diseases, strokes, and the likes and briefly mentioned diabetes. something like autoimmune system --inflammation -- diabetes, I'll have to read it again to be more precise . He or someone else might have said that wheat products have a substance that caused inflammation or an allergy. and to prevent heart disease, a tip is that the salt we take can be change to sea salt or pan salt, instead of pure sodium chloride. The magnesium in sea salts have a protective effect while calcium have a excite-ary effect. and also someone said that a good form of exercise is brisk walking. the book, as usual, I'm not sure which author ... probably Stop inflammation now! by Fleming, Richard M , or Reverse Heart disease now by Sinatra, Stephen T Of the food stuff, sweet potato( Ipomoea batatas) seems to be a suitable food for diabetes. and there is a bitter gourd( Momordica charantia) which have a small size variety which is said to be good for diabetes, but it is quite bitter and its an acquired taste. I tend to believe apple is anti-inflammatory . diabetes is a silent disease, and when it become serious, all the diseases pop up together.
