  1. he was shot from someone hiding under the street in a sewage drain as his car passed by, this was the head-exploding wound, he was also shot from the front, even though the gov's initial report denies this they later released another story confirming it. according to the history chanel this is
  2. quite the contrary my friend, plants reflect green light, they do not need it to survive.
  3. he he, my father swears that if you dig a hole in the ground while the moon is in its waining phase and try to fill it with the dirt that was removed from the hole during the waxing phase, you will not have enough dirt (or more dirt, i can't remember). It would seem possible, although I would think it would be more of a result from daily tidal forces than from monthly whatever forces
  4. I have no idea, i've only had a little bit of assembly back in Comp. Architecture and we used a MUCH simpler platform
  5. I think the singularity would be in an exotic state of matter not yet discovered by us. YT2095, the way I like to think about it is...I'm sure you've seen the representation of gravity using a trampoline matt with a heavy object in the center of the matt causing it to bend into a vortex shape. Well, if you use the same analogy to represent a black hole, then the singularity in the center would stretch the matt so much that opposite sides of the matt would become paralell to each other. From the trampoline point of view, you would basically fall forever toward the singularity never actually hitting the singularity. From a space-time point of view, the region in which the singulairy resides become 'non-local' or completely separated from the continuous flow of space-time (or trampoline matt surface)
  6. what blows my mind is how blacks make up a mere 12% of the population yet somehow manage to cause 58% of the crime. Then their civil rights leaders preach about the discriminiation they bring upon themselves implying that whites are the cause of it. I think the majority of blacks are raised under the misconception that society owes them something because their ancestors were slaves. Their ignorance and lack of education in the history of world civilization fuels this misconception even more. They don't want to know that america was only one of many nations that used slavery, they don't want to know how america was hardly a major contributor to slavery in the west. They don't want to know that 90% of the slave population in the west came from black slave traders in africa selling their own people into slavery. And why should they? ignorance is bliss when the working class of america is dragging the freeloaders like a ball and chain to keep them from having something else to bitch about. I think a lot can be understood by studying african society compared to the rest of the world. these guys never went through an industrial revolution, scientific revolution or any other type of social transformation that would allow them to keep up with other societies around the world
  7. perhaps if you gave us the instructions in a different format, seeing the opcodes mean nothing to me as I have never used LC-3, so I would need an entire list of opcodes & corresponding instructions to see what you are trying to do. ex) ADD R1,R1,R3 ADD R1,R1,#3 LD R6,NUMBER
  8. yeah, all entanglement really does is show that their is a correleation between probabilities of the particles, an even more impressive experiment was done using gravitational lensing of a distant star's photons, just having a detector along one of the paths was enough to make the photons "choose" one path or the other even though they should have "chosen" which path, or both, millions of years ago. ( i can't remember if wheeler did this or not)
  9. (off subject) have you ever looked at the theory proposing that gravitons are tachyons...implying negative time ordering and explaining gravity's time-reversed momentum transfer? I saw this here yesterday .... pretty cool stuff http://www.itsf.org/resources/factsheet.php?fsID=238here
  10. I think the key word here is "expressed"..... The derivative of "k log w" is certainly not zero, but is again, expressed as a number (who's derivative is zero) when it is instantiated I don't understand where your headed with the derivation of entropy anyways (maybe I should read the entire thread)
  11. of course, since SR deals with actions on the atomic scale right?
  12. yes, anything more would be overkill unless you privicy is absolutely necessary.
  13. No, the change in orientation of the probability amplitudes from each possible way the light could propigate through the medium (because of the photon's interactions with the atoms in the medium) just gives the effect of slowing down. see...Quantum Electrodynamics
  14. <i>steven hawking is full of crap</i> is it just me or is there a general dislike for hawking in this place? why do you guys hate him so much anyway?
  15. yes, because you own the trademark to spaceghost? oops, he he
  16. the answer yes, the number is 3
  17. crap...never mind, the argument was that the change would propigate through the pole at the speed of sound *through the pole* and the answer to my question is that the other end of the pole would recieve the motion effect instantaniously only if the material was incompressible (which is just as unlikely as mass moving faster than light)
  18. is it true that if you had a pole that was a light-year long and you pushed one end of the pole toward the other end, the other end would not move until a year later? basically saying that movment in the pole would propigate at the speed of sound? I heard this on another forum but it seems that the Mach-limitation is a bit strong? (eg. the movement would propigate throught the pole at some speed faster than sound but slower than light) I assume faster than sound because of the higher density hence smaller interval in atom-atom action.
  19. I don't follow you alt, I think that because mass causes the gravity phenomenon, it follows that energy would do the same. The problem arises when you try to test the theory... 1) energy is not stable enough, it would immediatly be absorbed into the surrounding matter in some way, 2) the amount of energy required exceeds our ability to produce it safely enough (think about testing the gravity associated with the small fraction of mass that contributes to the energy released in an A-bomb), testing the gravitational field associated with that MASS would be difficult enough, not to mention testing the G-field associated with the ENERGY released as a result. later
  20. what, like blackice? he he
  21. ZA KICKS SOME MAJOR ASS!! except for those so-called FW-killers that seek out and kill process according to their name, then all you gotta to is rename the ZA executables and hex-edit the dlls to match!!! then KA-ZAM!!! bye bye Firewall-Killerz!
  22. best thing to do is download a third party utility that will display your running programs, and map your open ports to specific applications and even the application's path. The trick is that you can have a bad program named after a legitimate program, but they cannot be in the same directory (eg. same name in the same folder)
  23. you may want to check that out....server.exe The problem with troubleshooting application (names) is that virus and trojan makers aren't stupid, they are not going to code a trojan and name it "bad_virus_program", they are gonna name it scvhost or rundll.dll or somthing like that to make it look legit.
  24. Descarte argues in one of his books.... 1) If you have ever been fooled into thinking a dream was real then waking up to find otherwise ( I have ) then you can never be sure your aren't dreaming this moment. 2) he rejects this by arguing that it is obvious he is not dreaming because he ponders the question of 'am I dreaming or awake' and such things do not occur while dreaming. The book is "Meditations on First Philosophy" check it out if you've never read it. Short Summary: Descartes begins by rejecting everything that could ever be questionable (eg. awake or dreaming). Through the corse of 6 or 7 'meditations' he goes on in an inductive manner, ultimately proving god's existence. (not really though)
  25. ports are just what they sound like, Your computer has some 65,000 ports. If you send information from your computer out onto a network(the internet), it goes out of one of the ports. If you recieve information from a network(internet) you recieve the information through one of these ports. serial/parallel/usb ports are specific places (physical outlets on the back of your computer) where you can plug a device in (like a digital camera), they're basically called 'ports' because they allow data to be sent and recieved from your computer. ports (0-1024) are called "well-known ports"...there is a specific use for each one of these ports...like port 80 is allways used for HTTP protocol (or surfing the internet) ports higher than 1024 can be used by any program to communicate with some other program accross a network or even to another part of your computer. malware is a generic name for programs that gather information from your computer and send it back to a specific place on the network(internet)...using a port. trojans are programs that set ports on your computer to "listen" for incoming connections. the people who distribute these trojan programs can scan thousands upon thousands of computers at once to see if a specific port (the port their trojan uses) is "listening" for a connection. if so, then they can connect to your computer and probably do some harmful things to your computer. To see a list of all the ports being used on your computer, do this.... 1) go to Start-->Run 2) type in "cmd" 3) click "OK" 4) type in "netstat"
