If by burst communications you mean compressed then it is very possible and has been used in very low frequency communication to submarines since the second world war.

If you entered the energy (I suppose kinetic in this case) of a photon and applied the standard equation (E=MC^2) you could calculate the mass due to velocity. I don't believe a photon at rest would exist so there is no "at rest mass". The only mass possible is due to the photon's velocity.

It is my understanding - remember I am new to this - that the space/time is expanding and since "gravitationally bound objects" are sitting in the same "gravity well" they move with the space/time but are not stretched with it because the warping of the space/time by their mass is not increased (the well stays the same size while moving).

My wife has a laptop that we would like to connect an external hard drive to for the purpose of back-up. I need at least 100meg drive and a reasonably simple way to connect it to her computer. Any suggestions for an amature? paul
