you talking about what goes on in westminster? only the electoral system isn't PR, as much as the Liberals like to ask.
faf: I never said that we live in a democracy, I said merely that "Democracy is the worst form of government, apart from all the others"
the PC shouldn't really be a choice, because it isn't a games console. Yes it can do alot more, but then it is designed for alot more. the beauty of a console is its simplicity and size.
yeap, it is probably against the laws of physics. chatting about paradoxes is fun, but there will probably be something from stopping them from happening.
I am not complaining about democracy, that was Churchill's Quote.
pointing out the technical states of the US and UK is also pointless as the monarchy is politically irrelevant.
criticising the system is all well and good, but is there anything better. the same comments have been made about democracy:
"It has been said that democracy is the worst form of governement except all the others that have been tried."
I haven't seen any theory suggesting that they do exist. Black holes don't merely "suck" up matter, they get heavier too, and bigger, and "suck" in more. as has been mentioned, they also evaporate, though the exact mechanism for this is as far as I know unknown, though there are various hypotheses, the most prominent being the creation of virtual particles near the event horizon.
only by accident. the one I am thinking of is the one where they removed the oxygen, and demonstrated how this is bad for mice. It is probably a different experiment.
it is quite possible to double and halve light frequencies using nonlinear optics, so if you take something like a red at about 650nm and frequency double it, you get 325nm light, which is down in the violet somewhere, probably UV (I can never remember what colour different wavelengths are. I just do it by a few lasers, so 514.3nm is the basic green for an Argon Ion laser)
the recovery thing varies as to how much hard drive space you allow it to use I think.
also as has been mentioned, the GUI is fully customisable. you can easily turn it back to the classic windows look, or do some really really nifty things with it,

and hence you wouldn't bother travelling back in time to stop you from breaking your leg in which case you break your leg and travel back in time to stop yourself from breaking your leg.....
........ can you see where this is going?
I use windows XP Pro because
a) I don't do anything clever with my PC, and see no need to run something like UNIX
b) It runs games
c) it is free and comes with a free copy of microsoft office.
