Many people are taught differnt ways to stop their nose from bleeding. My fiances father is really big into chinese medicine and martial arts. One remedy he says is to pinch the Index finger on your left hand. I have done many of google searches to try and back up his therory but have come up empty. He says the way it works is the blood flows from your finger to your nose and by pinching that finger it restricts bloodflow to the nose and stops the bleeding faster. Can this be scientifically proven or disproven?

I think i answered my own question. Blood is never blue but appears to be blue when viewed *through* skin. Because it does not reflect light bery well? Blood is Actually dark red!

I thought so also, but i remember as a kid being told that blood is blue until it hits the air and then it turns red.

I don't feel more safe. I have 2 friends over in iraq who write me twice a month and tell me about some of the horrifying things that they have seen and done. For instance one of my friends is a medic and his job was to walk along the streets of iraq and pick up body parts. He said he's had arguments with other medics about which body parts belong together and shit like that. He sounds F*cked up! Hes not the same and im not sure if he will ever be right again. I hate bush and his party for sending our troops to iraq. He has done more harm than good IMO. I won't vote for him next time! I walk in fear because bush has not completed the task at hand and will not do so for a long time. He has just ignited a fire usder these terroist asses and pissed them off which makes them wat to hurt the US twice as much.

Kidney Stone! Wanna talk about some pain... I would rathe die then go through that again. It started off feeling like i pulled a back mussle which i thought i did because i happend to be lifiting heavy bags of cement that day. So i just ignored it and sucked it up and then it slowy got more painful over about a hour and i had to goto homedepot to get more cement and as soon as i sat in my car i started tearing up while hoping the pain would go away. For some dumb reason i started to drive and about 2 minutes into the drive the pain was so bad i had to pull the car over on the highway and call my father to come get me. 30 seconds before he arrived i fell to the ground screaming because i thought i was going to die. That pain did not stop for 3 days. My dad took me to the doctors and they did an X-ray and they said go piss in this cup for us. So i did and out came nothing but thick blood. The doctors said that they have never seen such dark red piss. The doctor examined the X-ray and said "I dont see anything wrong with his x-rays he must have just torn a mussle" Stupid me i beleived them. 2am the next morning i was rushed to the hospital and this time a differnt doctor did a cat scan and found not only one but two Kidney Stones which have be tearing at my insides. About a month later i passed the stone which only hurt for a second. Some compare a man with a kidney stone to a womens contractions durring pregnancy. All i know is that i would never wish that pain on my worst enemies.

I'm sure that everything we learn has a purpose amd i do believe you can never learn to much. I wish i knew everything there is to know it would make life so much easier, then again it would make life much more boring if i had nothing to learn. I agree with YT that more important things should be taught to little people because we retain more knowledge while young, than we do when we get older. The older we get the more wise we become but we really learn the most while we are young. Somone on this forum should make up a catchy nursery rhyme about science or math. Here is my new interpretation of "Jack and Jill" Jack is a man Jill is a women Jack walked up the hill and jill followed after him. On the way up jack triped and tumbled backwords on his way down he bumbed into jill and she came tumbling down with him. This has some relation ship to physics. What goes up must come down and An object in motion will remain in motion and every action has an equal and oposite reaction. But if this were true then would jill be tumbling after or would jack knock into her and she now be in the lead down the hill with jack tumbling after.

Maybe the nursery ryhmes were taught as a history lesson. Like Author in Skyes link said at the end of his site maybe the songs are just catchy easy to remember jingles. This would be a great way to pass a history test. But then im not sure if they even had schools back then.

I got this software which came with a Digital Spy Pen and i want to look at the code and see how it works. The pen product number is HE509 and the software is very simple. It just has a few buttons to press and a display area which diplays the downloaded images. It almost looks like it could be some for of VB because of how simple the software enviroment looks. I have read that there are no such things as decompilers for VB5 and 6 executables Any ideas of how to crack this exe. It also comes with a dll which i will have to look at in a second

I am a very slow learner when i comes to math and i plan to take it in college soon. So i want to get a head start. I dont even know how to use a Graphing Calc so im pretty far behind. Is there a free online tutorial to teach calc from the very basics. My fiance has a AP calc book that i could use but since i dont know even the basics of calc it doesnt do me to good

Im not obeist but i am over weight for my height and i havent exercised in about 3 years. I feel like crap and i cant seem to get motivated to run or lift weights. I thought of taking the easy way out doing a little lipo but that seems to be very expensive for the little bit of work the doc has to do. I think i seen prices of $10,000 and up. Like i said im only overweight so i dont even think im an ideal canidate. If i were to change one think with lipo it would be to get rid of my "man boobs" Sobody kick me in the ass and get me off this computer. I need to work out!

I figured if she had a concrete reason such as her dad hitting her she would tell us even if were something that happend in the past. But she has not told us anything of that nature and we have not seen any of the signs of physical abuse. IMO i think my fiance's aunt, who hates the father and watches the daughter everyday that the father does not have the daughter, Has in some way influenced the daughter into thinking that her father is not a good person. With the aunts psycological problems she often talks to people not even knowing that the daughter is arround listening. Im scared that on more than one occasion the aunt has said something to someone and the daughter has picked up on this. I know that on more that one occasion the daughter has been present while a conversation like this one has came up and all that my fiance's family has to say about the father is bad things because the father first said he wanted nothing to do with the child and when the child was born he sewed for full custody. im scared of psych's I live with my fiance's aunt who was raped and has been seeing a psych for years now. And from my own finding iv noticed that the psych visits screw her up even more every time. So if i were to talk to a psych it would be on my own and not with my future step daughter or her mother. Everyday i here things that her therapist has told her and im like woooahhh what the hell was he thinking... i cant think of any examples right now but there are several. Im not sure that a therapist knows anymore than the rest of us. I was once told and i do beleive that psych's are nothing more the people who put fancy terms to everyday problems. But i will take you advice and hope that you are right. I will call a psych tomorrow and see what he has to say. But i will not take my 3 year old there as i do believe it will only make things worse. Seriously how do you explain to a 3 year old that you think she has some type of emotional problem and in order for you to help her she has to goto a doctor who she does not know and spill her guts. I think she would much rather spill her guts to someone she trusted like her mother. Like i said im sure whatever the reason is its probably having to do with the relationship between the daughter and father. The father and mother were never together durring the daughters life so she isnt used to having her dad arround. I think you were right when you said she is afraid f change. I know i hated getting tossed back and forth between mother and father. It sucked and thats why i would never force my kids to visit me if they didnt want to. Although im not a single parent so i cant speak from experience. I have only lived the side of the child.

She goes Monday Wednesday Friday from 8:30am to 6:30pm and then every other weekend he has her from friday at 8:30am until sunday 10am He pretty much gets to see her more than we do because he only works part time and most of that is at night when we are supposed to have her any ways. I know nobody can give me an answer since there are to many factors that play into this type of situation but i was hoping that someone could give me some ideas of how to "trick her" into telling my she does not like it. I found that if i say things like Do you not like daddy because he is mean to you. Or Do you not like daddy because he doesnt play with you. Just gives here a way out and she agrees with whatever i say. She is 3 years old and speaks very well for her age. Having a conversation with her would work in this case but the problem is trying to get the conversation started and to get her to relax and be comfortable enough either with me or her mother so that she will tell us actually why she hates going there. I must state that maybe twice in the last year she has not argued with us while going to her fathers. I have heard her say many times "Mommy i dont want you to goto work" Making me think that she just doesnt want mommy to leave and that makes me think that everything that happens with her father is normal. I also thought that maybe he is just not as fun as mommy but living with her mother i know that her mother is not all that fun either. Me her father and her mother have all talked about the situation but the conversations have all lead to guessing games. The only one that knows for sure why she doesnt like going is herself

I fiance has a 3 year old daughter who crys every morning before she has to go to her fathers house. I also was raised in a situation where my parents were divorced and i never wanted to go to my fathers because his house was not any fun and all my friends were at my mothers house. My fiance is flipping out because she thinks that her daughter crying every morning before going to daddys is a sign of abuse. But she has no physical markings on her and when we pick her up from her fathers house she is as happy as can be. She is a very intelligent 3 year old and we have tried asking her why she does not like going to her fathers house. My fiances Aunt has sugested us taking her to a therapist but me and my fiance both think that it would screw up her mind even more. What is all of your opinions.

I do believe that the best known form of creating AI acording to programmers wouldbe XML. That takes the fun out of using a forum also like someone said in another post. Of course i could look it up in google. In fact i can probably look everything that is talked about in this forum on google but the defeats the purpose of the forums I could use dictionary.com or i could use the encarta software i have installed on my PC also. and i could get an answer for myself but that would be to easy. I like reading multiple sources. So after i got an answer from you guys i would have look up the definitions and seen if your definition and the dictionarys definition were the same and reading 2 differnt definitions would give me twice the chance to understand what was being said. I get the feeling im not liked around here or something!

What is the definition of a fluid and what is the definition of a liquid as scientif terms. I always thought they were the same?

I was once told that glass is not a solid but is a liquid. Is this true? I was told that that is the reason the large skyscrapers filled with glass windoes have to flip the glass 180 degrees because the gravity causes the glass to taper leaving the top side more narrow over time.
