  1. If it weren't for that deliberate and unnecessary provokation, I would have indulged you by allowing this to continue.
  2. Unfortunately I don't have time to read the whole thread right now, but based on past experience of your approach to science I suspect that "systems biology" was not actually called pseudoscientific, but the way you used it was.
  3. Done time and time and time again. Please read the existing threads and add to them if you can. Create another thread when there is something new to be said on the topic.
  4. As Bettina well knows, I have already stated in the thread in question that there is nothing in the mod logs.
  5. The fact that you're asking that question implies a preconception on your part that is at odds with the O/P's intentions.
  6. As far as I know he is still at Leeds University. I had him for Adaptive Radiation, and Diversity & Adaptation. He has a habit of putting up slides of brightly-coloured fish in the middle of lectures just to point out how pretty they are, looks like he is about to die at any second, and always rides on the top deck of buses.
  7. I largely agree with that. But if the question is "where do we get our personality", identifying what it is takes priority over listing what it isn't.
  8. Don't forget that you might not necessarily be trying to come to definitive conclusions. Like Ophiolite suggests, it's more about ranges of probability and patterns of practicability.
  9. If you install something like Mandrake on a pc that's already running windows it will guide you through the process, creating the appropriate partitions and installing a bootloader to give you the choice of O/S on start-up.
  10. I know what you mean, it's just "innocent" suggests an opposing state of "guilty", which could easily start a humungous flame war if people don't pay close enough attention
  11. The fact that they are different issues is what I was endeavouring to highlight. I'm sure the overall impact would be sizeable, just not for evolutionary theory (or at least, not in the way Bettina means, if I read her posts correctly).
  12. Using more than one operating system on the same PC.
  13. That's the one. Which terms was I thinking of? Same question still applies to Christ Slave's post, although I'm not sure he will ever answer it.
  14. So you mean someone in a low risk group, rather than implying some kind of cavalier attitude that probably doesn't apply.

  16. In future, please use the "report post" feature. Yes, there are several users in this thread with the same IP address. No, they will not be treated like criminals just for that reason. Yes, their spam will be removed just like everyone else's.
  17. While the first part is true, you'd be surprised how little evolutionary theory would be impacted by the discovery of off-world life. It doesn't, after all, aim to describe any off-world life, so it can't really be "wrong" about it. Nor does it deal with the origins of terrestrial life, so it won't be affected that way either. Or is that not what you meant?
  18. There is nothing really useful in this thread, apart from 5614's post on black holes. I suggest reading through the massive time travel threads that already existed before this one started.
  19. I don't believe I have agreed a definition, nor have I pleased a crowd (unless you consider pleased to be the same as entertained, and macroscopic to be a crowd, in which case you must lack perspective.) What I have done is point out that if we label something (read: anything) that exists as "personality", then dismissing personality as non-existant is pretty much unjustifiable, especially if it's only for the purposes of giving it a new label.
  20. Can you explain what a "non-innocent person" is in this context?
