  1. Yes, I was. As in "before it was released." The question I responded to was "what did Tarantino have to do with this film?", not "what does Tarantino have to do with PR?". Well ****ing duh.
  2. Let's not forget NEO-deflection.
  3. Everyone I know who is interested in Asian cinema had already heard of Hero before it was released on R1. I don't doubt though that it helped make the film more widely known (of) in the States. Note that where you talk about this film and mainstream cinema, I was actually talking about Asian cinema as a whole. It's not like it's a new thing.
  4. I honestly couldn't give two hoots, and I seriously doubt Blike does either.
  5. Again: Cost versus benefit.
  6. In this thread, the person who first solves a riddle posts the next one.
  7. There's at least one, apparently.
  8. Photovoltaics and sun-heated water have come a long way in the past 10 years - they're now highly efficient and can generate electricity/heat water even in poor light conditions. You might also consider wind power if conditions near you are right. Garden turbines are quiet and efficient, as well as being cheaper than you'd think. Have a look at sites that sell the hardware - they usually have information about the battery system you'll need, installation etc.
  9. If I were him I would have said "developed the capability to open fire at any target".
  10. It's the way Unix works. If you think about it, it makes sense to have a != A. Because a != A irrespective of whether they are binary representations of the ASCII table characters, or the English alphabet characters there on the page.
  11. Because Unix-based file systems are case-sensitive. a != A
  12. Not really. It will make a difference on Unix-based file systems though, as they are case sensitive. (So image.bmp would be considered a different file to image.BMP.)
  13. One does assume that if you are building a battleship as a mobile gun platform, you'll make it big enough to carry the weapon systems and support that you have in mind for it.
  14. A laser in space combat doesn't necessarily need to do "damage" in a conventional sense. For instance it could be used to confuse or overload sensors.
  15. A database without problems, and a more realistic idea of member participation in scientific discussions for guests and new members. Actually they do, but that's not really relevant.
  16. Because diamond isn't one of the only things that can scratch glass. The point that was made is that most diamond substitutes won't cut glass. See post #14.
  17. There is no "post killing script". Over time the records in the database are corrupted by a variety of factors. The postcount synchronisation script is just one of several tasks that the maintenace function carries out.
  18. Comments are moderated - they won't appear until they're validated. Didn't see one in the queue from you, but mine worked ok
  19. There's a role defined for "copy editor": * can edit any article, link or comment * can edit page Page and Form HTML That would probably do it. Just need a screen name, username (login) and email.
  20. Not really, no. It had a big impact this time because post count incrementation has been turned off for GD and removed threads.
