  2. Oh right, I haven't seen Signs (which apparently is a good thing) so I took that to mean the symbols were big "attack here!" markers.
  3. Whoever gets into space first ("properly") will dominate it. That's a fact. I can see why the .gov or .mil would want to secure that for the USA. What's worrying is that it seems to be an automatic assumption on their part that the 4.5% of humanity represented by the American people are somehow by default entitled to not only the majority of consumable resources on the planet, but also to the only chance of developing to the next ecological level that any of us have. And if anyone tries to compete, says the airforce, we'll smack them down. They won't mind. I recognise the ecological drive behind it, but I don't see how "screw you all, we're the future of this species" can be justified as a civilised human philosophy.
  4. I'm thinking rabbits are not as smart as dogs, no. Dogs don't just "learn tricks"; they can be taught to act autonomously and use both best-guess and specific decision making. All rabbits do is become conditioned to certain stimuli, which can be done with any animal. Dolphins are the second or third most intelligent animal on the planet next to us, there's no way rabbits are as smart as them. That's just ridiculous. Take your fluffy wuffy luv n hugz rabbit book and burn it, quick. It's the only way to avoid losing similar bets in future!
  5. That's why it's in the poll. Perhaps people just don't think we will be able to detect such life very easily.
  6. Either that, or a temperature probe in extreme close-up.
  7. If I were going to try, pop. dynamics would be the way I did it. But as I already said, all you have to do to break such a proof is change your interpretation of genesis.
  8. Don't forget they also have to escape the "Strange Barrier Force" thing that was detected acting on Voyager.
  9. Closed for repeating the same junk that's been done better in other threads.
  10. There have been co-ordinated sonar detection efforts in the past, but Loch Ness is actually quite big.
  11. Who said anything about navigation?
  12. Intelligence was not a requirement for the poll
  13. Irrelevant. No it won't. It affects the explanation, not the results.
  14. I don't think the calendar picks and chooses.
  15. The difference being that we know there is almost certainly water on Europa, which opens the door to possible carbon-based life. Whereas there is no reason to believe there are silicon-based life forms there, and still wouldn't be any reason if there was no water.
  16. Argh, likelihood mangling detected.
  17. Yeah, well it's not like the militarization of and complete fiat over space can be achieved by backseat drivers.
  18. Am I right i thinking you are importing external content into a flash movie? If so it will help us if we can see the directory structure on your PC, the directory structure on the server, and the actionscript that is importing the content.
  19. More Solar Sail news: Hurrah for communism!
