Oddness This could be a symptom of something worse. Uninstall Google toolbar, run up-to-date Adaware 6, reinstall IE from windows update, install toolbar. Betcha that fixes it.

Is this a home or work PC? If it's a work PC she may not have sufficient privileges to allow the toolbar to write the correct reg entries.

Sounds like the installer doesn't think installation completed successfully. See if there's an FAQ on Google...? It could be a known issue.
