  1. Most of what is bollocks? I don't see any reason why we can't have arguments based on the ST universe, as long as we agree on a common frame of reference and use the rules as they appear in that universe.
  2. It's a reluctance to commit to anything that will make them a target for flak from whatever groups have a vested interest in the opposing ideas, combined with the cost of researching and consulting experts.
  3. LuTze and I both finished our degrees already, MrL is working on his afaik.
  4. But physics is, and we give things names to make them easier to refer to.
  5. I'm off to bed. You have a think about it, I'm sure you'll come up with something.
  6. Ahhh, Best of Both Worlds Cause and Effect rocks. You could make a bubble that does the same thing and call it warping. No idea how though.
  7. Iirc they use some kind of beacon or subspace relay for synching system times. (Possibly TNG: "Cause and Effect"...)
  8. Ideally we would take away the environmental factors and look at the results in one set of victims, I mean volunteers; and with the other set do the opposite. Bit tricky removing the genetic factor though
  9. Argh. It's difficult to explain, but it comes down to "you decide how much to pay". For instance I pay £0.06 per click for TSA. Check it out.
  10. It doesn't have to be parents or guardians; anything non-genetic comes under "environmental factors".
  11. Google adwords. Cheap and effective.
  12. Threads split and merged as appropriate.
  13. Well, MrL says there's no way really of knowing what state the matter from the original star is in where black holes are concerned. As for the internal energy forces, you'd have to ask him or Rad. If you are using the default style, the "edit" link is next to the date and time, at the top-left of your post.
  14. The best reference material for Irken snacks can be found in "Dib's Wonderful Life... OF DOOM!" and "Fry Cook". They definitely like donuts though.
  15. Reopened for Cap'n Refsmmat on the understanding that it does not simply repeat reasoning that was refuted in the other thread...
  16. It is very clever, yet so simple. Clearly less than 98% symmetry.
  17. What have you got plugged in to the mobo? It's possible it is underpowered with a 200W supply.
  18. A black hole has a strong gravitational field because it's a dense point of high mass. Hence, it pulls things in. & Hence, it's solid.
  19. The amount of matter and energy in this universe is finite though. Therefore the number of star systems must be too.
