  1. A nuke is not the best weapon to use against guerilla factions unless you happen to know they're all clustered together nicely away from any major populations. There really isn't any effective counter to guerilla attacks that have the benefit of being both fast and discriminate. That's why guerilla warfare lasts so long and is frequently adopted by an outnumbered or outgunned force.
  2. That's definitely a factor when you're trying to give up a strong nicotine addiction. It's not so much that nicotine addicts are weak people though - it's more like they're trapped by a morbid fear of being without the drug, and the weakness rears its head when you try to get over that fear. It's like the drug gets inside your defences, then turns them all off. Everyone in that situation really just needs a little push to remind them they're stronger than that, but it's different for everyone. Some people need a lot more convincing that their life will be better with more ready cash, no evil-smelling clothes and/or breath, better lung capacity, less rapidly-aging skin and -- possibly most importantly -- being able to say goodbye to the joyful fun of the constant "when and where the next cig will be smoked being foremost on the mind" experience. All in all I'm glad I need no longer confess to being a smoker. YUK.

  4. The country isn't screwed up enough yet for us to walk out and leave them to it.
  5. I've seen a grand piano launched from one. It's surprising how well it flew, but the landing left a lot to be desired.
  6. It does stop mods, and super mods. Only admins can see invisibles.
  7. Can you turn a German into a rocket? Cool!
  8. Hence my cunning use of the term "inference". AH HAH!
  9. I see. Very clever, bringing temporal mechanics into it. If you can edit it to remove the inference that I was wrong to do my job in the first place, that would be quite lovely.
  10. I refer to "Sayonara, in the future do not make calls like that". That directly opposes what Blike said, IE that I was right to move the thread. A decision about policy made ex post facto can hardly be considered a contributing factor, now can it?
  11. It's a simple enough question! Vote, and say what you think below This poll has nothing to do with site policy and I doubt it will affect it - I'm just curious to see what people think. [i put this in here because (i) GD is the only forum everyone regularly checks, and (ii) to ensure it definitely did not appear on the front page]
  12. I found this article on alertbox (a great resource for web authors) which I am sure will help everyone to make better posts, that are easier to understand and more likely to be read properly: URL: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/9710a.html
  13. Trebuchetting dead cows is hilarious, that's why. Especially if they are on fire, and you aim over the keep.
  14. Seeing as reply #10 makes me look like I was in the wrong, which flatly contradicts what the site owner had to say about it, I'd appreciate it faf if you could edit or remove those comments.
  15. Daisy, I was saying exactly the same things in August but I went ahead and used a course of patches anyway, and by the fifth week had conquered that powerful addiction and didn't need a crutch. And I'm so glad I did it
  16. Well we already established I was in a grotty mood yesterday Although if I ever meet the guy who 'invented' trick or treat (via some remarkable time travel escapade I imagine), I will violently and slowly kill him.
  17. Blike or faf can add these to the emots list.
  18. Trebuchets are hilarious. Especially if you happen to have a pile of dead cows.
  19. 821 Degrees C according to the Materials safety sheet: http://www.newportglass.com/amspyrx.htm
  20. Oh please. When you present such a blasé attitude towards extremely dangerous substances while talking to what is essentially a child you have to expect to be called on it. I probably should have PM'ed you though, out of courtesy. I was horribly busy at the time though and had a complete tard bothering me on the phone if that's any consolation.
  21. How do you know it was a scientific question? This question is coming from a 14-yr old schoolboy with absolutely no explanation as to why he wants to make rocket fuel, a highly explosive and dangerous agent. His only other contribution so far on this forum has been to recommend terrorist documentation, but I'm starting to wonder if you wouldn't find that 'clever'. The thread is in the holding area for blike or faf to make a decision on it, but more discretion about what you publish on this site is advised. Think about it YT, it's not rocket science. (boom boom)
  22. Well I guess that makes it more clever then.
  23. I'm sure when they come back with their parents you'll find it easy to convince them that it is safe and temporary, and everyone will laugh at how funny it is that you sprayed their children with chemicals.
