  1. Osseocarnisanguineoviscericartilagninonervomedullary bipeds like yourselves don't half waffle on.
  2. Exactly - his lungs have been getting mangled by smoke for 40 years. Mine haven't.
  3. I don't dispute your complaint at all. However I think a little artistic license can be forgiven if it allows one to fit everything in the confines of the banner.
  4. I am cooler than James Bond. Smoking is his way of trying to catch up, but with those lungs he'll never make it.
  5. I was talking about the image proportions in a general sense, rather than the atomic proportions in a specific sense.
  6. ATM and I both quit in August. Not smoking is better than smoking.
  7. Because the image dimensions have not been distorted.
  8. The image is represented in better proportions on the way in to faf's homepage - you can see it there in its full and unstretched glory.
  9. Because they're more appropriate software for generating banners?

    Looking is FORBIDDEN.
  11. Things like that make me glad I live on the non-crazy side of the world What the yellow rubbery is a skunk ape?
  12. When I am working on my PC at home (most evenings and a lot of the weekend), or at work, I have SFN open in the background on the "who's online" page so I can see if anything interesting is happening just by Alt-Tabbing. That's why my hours have always jumped by Monday morning
  13. I hear blike's rear looks like it's stretched to fit. Hey, he said it first :-D 3DS Max is the last thing I'd use to make a banner. PHS, Illustrator, Freehand or Flash. Or Quark if I were a loony "Mac Operator". Although you can't work with light as well in PHS as you can in 3D software.

The error message is generated when a call is made to the web root of http://www.blike.com, as there is no index or default page in that folder.

  16. lol There's plenty of interesting stuff on here besides the academic bits. Like the polls, news etc... The 'debates' we have in the religion, politics and pseudoscience forums are usually, ummmm, frighteningly funny.

  18. I didn't say I hated it, I said it didn't 0wn. Chill. Besides which, whether or not I like it is immaterial. It's on my rotation because I'm doing Blikey boy a favour, not because I want to listen to you being a knob.
  19. I can certainly understand the difficulties involved in making a banner for a decentralised subject like "science" without making it realllly cheesy.
  20. It really doesn't. Clearly this does:
  21. I've added the banner to the rotation at http://www.starfleetarchive.com and http://www.starfleetarchive.co.uk - it has an approx. frequency of 1/10 at the moment, which is 3 times higher than the average appearance of a single banner.
  22. lol I see what you mean. I am fully aware that a markup language might end up being horribly complex in this application, but I was enjoying arguing with Syntax. Unfortunately half of his posts (and mine too) have been deleted because it was a bit of a cat fight. From Tony's original post I was under the impression that he was discussing a system that any old biologist could pick up quickly to represent raw genomic information. But I agree; If you want a complex, hierarchial system for representing protein expression, etc... markup won't cut the mustard. Unless it was a horribly convoluted XML-based application, but in that case you'd have to program your own "interpreter" anyway.
