  1. Oh I see. It's not one of the smilies on here (yet?) Just right-click on the banana in my post (not under my username) and go to 'properties', then copy the address of the image. Then you can use the [img ] tag to insert it into posts or paste the address into the avatar box.
  2. DAMN YOU! Well then I guess it's all ok. If Iraq can break the rules, then it's completely justifiable for the USA to break the rules as well. Wow, The US are just like a rogue cop pushed too far, driven to avenge the brutal murder of their wife.
  3. Ummm.. use the image tag to put an image in posts, or upload one through User CP > Options > Change Avatar to use it as an avatar. Is that what you meant?
  4. I don't think "rule" is exactly what Matzi means, despite the actual use of the word.
  5. Welcome to IRC. You're in faf's world o' pain now!
  6. I think not. Clearly, is the ultimate king of smileys. See?
  7. The SAS and the Navy Seals would never shoot people in the head though, so they're OK and we can keep them about the place because they are handy. [edit - commentary on such groups, not on your post ]
  8. Are you sure common courtesy covers it? I mean, what's a "drinks break"? If you pop out in the middle of a lesson to go and have a capucino and read the paper you should probably ask first. Unless you're teaching the class of course.
  9. How can you ask me what I am talking about and unilaterally claim I am 'wrong' in the same post?

I suspect that as a race we English folk developed an intricate system of courtesies and manners just to baffle people so that they wouldn't stab us on sight.
  11. I think we should find out where he lives, make a big papier maché globe, and hang it outside his window. Then stage a fake emergency radio broadcast from next door in the middle of the night.
  12. Let me guess - still no word from him?
  13. No I didn't. I was talking about you, not the war. So they can be shot in the back while doing so? You're still wrong. No I didn't. I was talking about you, not the war.

  15. That may well be true, but it's not how Zarkov will see it. Remember he is an expert in pseudoscience.
  16. LOL Blike, you and your crazy warped perceptions.
  17. You conveniently disregard the fact that US and UK bombs and guns are killing innocent non-combatants on a daily basis. You conveniently disregard the fact that most human shields are involuntary. You conveniently disregard the fact that the US is a member of the UN security council and bound by the rules of the UN, rules it is currently ignoring, whereas Iraq is not a UN member and is not bound by those rules. It's inconvenient, but you can't have an answer for everything.
  18. He's probably still in his tent.
  19. Military action should always be the last resort, regardless of whatever 'justification' one can manage to scrape together. Particularly where the country or government in question poses no threat to anybody in particular. As far as Japan goes, I would have thought that the US would be planning on keeping a useful ally against North Korea as sweet as possible.
  20. So extend the logic but without using any facts. (If I have to shout "this is the pseudoscience forum, try to keep up" then this whole thing gets a lot less entertaining.)
  21. Yes. The point of the SS analogy is that it demonstrates a huge force can be generated without easily observed or immediately obvious mechanisms (although as an analogy it is slightly flawed in that solar sails have been conceptualised based on the theoretical workings, rather than being created then explained). Perhaps saying that it side-steps the momentum issue was a bit misleading. I should have said 'calls it into question'.
  22. Is momentum conservation going to be that much of a problem? The solar sail analogy kind of side-steps it.
  23. I'm curious - what is a 'Public School' in the US? A state school? In the UK, a Public School is a non-exclusive, fee paying school - often confused with Private Schools.
  24. Is there an ethical parallel involved in the use of parts from an old car? I suppose the nearest analagous situation would be keeping the elderly or crippled alive for use as organ banks.
