  1. Don't go rushing to defend the camel until you have actually smelled it.
  2. Which is why forums have admins and moderators. Because collective opinions don't manage threads. Yes I understand that. It had actually occured, funnily enough. You can reasonably expect composing and typing such a post to occupy a period of time, a period which is going to get longer and longer as this pointless discussion continues to go over the same ground again and again and again until it too gets closed, and I launch the bloody lot of you into space on the back of a very smelly camel.
  3. Having re-read it was certainly not obvious that I was making a general request, rather than accusing Jim of ****-stirring, for which I apologise.
  4. Read the thread again. I am not interested in debating this with you. The discussion was one that pertained to the religious aspects of an interaction between two religions. I have no interest in picking out single posts that either support or refute that. Then you can't have much to say on the politics of it all. Suits me fine. You have all been told repeatedly that a new forum is being launched to accommodate such discussions. Complaining doesn't make that any less true. Until that forum is available to you, if in doubt as to whether or not you are contributing to a religious discussion, ask for clarification. Or is that too much effort? I am as surprised by that uncensored expletive as you are, and shall investigate immediately, after starring it out manually. That rather depends on the motive. Asking everyone in a thread not to ****-stir is not the same as accusing an individual of ****-stirring, is it? I don't care if Kofi Annan posted in the thread. It was not appropriate content for the forum. That is much more of a churlish and immature response than I have come to expect from you. The world is not crashing down around your ears Jim, stop being so melodramatic. Dramatic changes are usually dramatic.
  5. No, I think it will help other members to notice that the questions we keep getting have been answered.
  6. I think I made myself perfectly clear. If the OP or the prevailing discussion had pertained to the political impact of this event, it would have stayed. However it did not. It was clearly a religious discussion, and not a political discussion, and is not appropriate content for the politics forum. There is absolutely nothing stopping Martin, or any of his respondants, from starting a new thread to discuss the political implications. Please don't ****-stir. This is a hard enough time for SFN as it is.
  7. A new forum on a new web site. It will be religion-oriented, with a different set of objectives etc. So the discussions won't be in conflict with their "environment", like they were here. We are hoping to import the threads from the P&R forum, and the user database, so it should be a very smooth transition. Will the religion forum come back to SFN? NO Will SFN get a new philosophy forum? Very likely Will the politics forum on SFN be closed? NO
  8. Because it's the best pic ever! I think a better question is, why did you announce it to all of SFN if it's our little secret? You WANT them to see it, don't you. Go on everyone, go look. He is naked except for the peanut butter.
  9. Or, even better, let's not revive religious discussions from the closed P&R forum on the politics board. Let me make this perfectly clear (as if enough has not been done already to convey the message): SFN no longer welcomes the discussion of religion or religious issues. You have already been told that alternative arrangements are being made. Be patient.
  10. Ryan J, Ryan J, makes you think, smells like hay, Ryan J, RYAN J! he's come back, from being away.

    K.i.s.s

I want to marry this thread.
  12. You have two lists right? Do they have (or should they have) multiple entries for the same cities? If not, you can sort the lists alphabetically, paste one next to the other, and visually compare them. If one or both have non-unique entries in them, go to help and learn about pivot tables. They are one of Excel's best features, and massively overlooked by casual users. I have never actually used VLOOKUP because Excel is satan's bumhole, but I am sure someone here will have done.

    Animal Testing

Also remeber that generally, when you see a site or programme or book that shows something extremely graphic along with a proposed agenda, you can bet your bottom dollar that they are showing you the absolute worst that things can possibly get, which will assuredly not be representative of the state of affairs as a whole. IOW, just because they show you a puppy with twigs in its brain, doesn't mean that goes on in all cases of "animal testing".
  14. Who validated this post? It is quite clearly not a debate challenge.
  15. Same as me and I have no such problems. Weird...?
  16. Iirc, you want "vertical lookup". Or you could just order each list by alpha, and paste one next to the other...? (use a simple pivot table if one list contains multiple entries for the same city).
  17. Could you not have two identical setups, but omit the detector in one, so that the recipient can compare the collapsed waveform pattern with the non-collapsed pattern?
  18. BROCCOLI!!!!! http://www.sayonara.info/blog/2005/08/paragliding.php
  19. Yes, I'm afraid so. But I think most sensible people recognise it's mainly for show.
